Looking down at the papers in front of her she regarded Jim again. “Yes, Church is French. James… Why are you doing this? And I mean really doing this?“

“You aren’t dating another animal shifter, if you were this conversation wouldn’t be happening. They are the only ones we can’t get information on. And when we do the instantly make it useless with their games. We can’t protect you from this if it goes bad, Max. We might not even know if something is going bad until after it happens. “Listen and I’ll override Jax’s call. You’ll be lifted off of house arrest and no one will tail him when you’re together.”

“You’re also assuming that anyone knew about the Australian. Which I don’t think they did. Both Adelaide and Monty seemed surprised at his assistant’s arrival. No one in this pack can do a better job than I am."

“By the people and team I considered my pack, yes. What I did was wrong but your teams process of information was a killer.” Max sighed walking behind her desk and taking a seat. “I don’t think I have a choice whether you take the seat or not. But by all means please feel free to James.“

“Fair enough. It was the first time this situation happened in the history of this pack. It was obviously fumbled.” Jim nodded once and sat down, shifting the folder in between his hands. “I think it’s no secret that I think human shifters are dangerous, and for the most part we’d be better off without them in our city. But it’s your choice to continue on, so I’d rather you have all of what we know about Churchill Darling.” He opened the folder and spread it out in front of her. He began pointing, and moving pages around like he was giving a presentation to his team. “We believe he was born in France, pre-revolution. We have evidence of him being at the beheading of King Louis XVI.”

In Her Office

“I’m not going to apologize. I’m going to continue seeing who I’m seeing.“

“Now why else are you here?“

“You were attacked, and that wasn’t the right way to go about this. I’m sorry about that, and I’ll let it be after I say my peace.” Jim held a file in between his hands and nodded towards a chair. “Do you mind if I sit?”

“I’m old. What can I say?” He arched his brows at the younger man while digging in for fries. “What footage do you have for me?”

“Some big shot flew into town and has our SKIN charges frazzled. He’s a clan leader from Australia but has his shit on wraps. I’m having someone from our team get in contact with any rat pack from around there for more information. Besides that Church has been doing his thing. And Patch has been with the Coventrys since the third hiccup.”

“I thought we’d grown out of the ‘good boys’ Jax.”

Jim nodded as he took in the information silently, each bit going into a separate box to check off later. “Mary reported on newer faces at the college, they had Australian accents. Bring her with you when you look closer in on the new alpha.” His eyes stayed focused in on Magnus Bane’s apartment as he directed the younger man. “I want you to drop Patch and Church until we at least get a relation and a name on the Aussie.” He turned to look at the younger man. “If you don’t see any use to have my best spy on them, that is.”
