The reason I know is that the handwriting is way too different. One is a lot better than the other, but also hard to read. Cursive is so cursive it just looks like intricate squiggles.

They are completely peaceful. Not even the slightest hint at rage. So Jack, you can be at ease with that information.

The little contact I've made I've determined two things:

Jack, when you went on that walk last night, you took it with you. By the time you returned, I had dozed off, and to my knowledge, you left it somewhere downstairs. Unless I woke up in the middle of the day, went downstairs and messed with it (which I did not) the only person who has had any access to it in the past day is you. I need you to first take a deep breath.

First, ghost hauntings are more common than we think. Like really common. And only about half the time is it because of something bad. The scary ones just get reported on more. The good ones end up on facebook like "my grandmother reached out to me with this beam of sunlight that seemed to highlight her favorite chair." People on the grand scale ignore those ones. But they are just as common.

Bad on the words you heard in your dream, and the lack of danger warning in the journal message, I'm very much leaning towards this being a message reach, not a threat or a cry for help. You are going to be okay.

That being said. I need to come over.

Before we do anything, I need to get my equipment and actually confirm it. Once we are sure, then we can move on to potential means of contact.

I'm not entirely knowledgeable about ghosts, but I do know that their ability to communicate is limited. It's usually limited to slight movement of objects, with any verbal communication being a word or two at most.

Were there any particular spots here where it went off more often? I have... some ideas on where there might be a stronger reading, and what that might relate to, but I want to get more details on what's been happening and see if my hunch lines up.

That'd the part that's hard to investigate. The readings are not consistent. Sometimes it will be very strong and other times it's not (in the living room and kitchen). Sometimes it's stronger in one end of the room, sometimes it's the other. Sometimes it's stronger by Jack's door, sometimes yours. Usually Jack's though, if it is upstairs in the hall. But that's only sometimes. A few times it seemed to be strongest around the bookshelves in the study.

Slight movement of objects is uncommon but not rare. Apparations are extremely rare. The one or two words thing really depends. Sometimes they can't reach into the world in anyway humans can normally sense them. There are theories that they sometimes use other means of getting their words out that don't require the physical world. I have no idea if that's true though.

With people I've helped with ghosts, nightmares are common, but that doesn't necessarily mean the ghosts are getting in their head. It's hard to tell. Dreams are hard to investigate even without the added complications of the paranormal.

In general, the amount they are able to interact with their target and/or the real world heavily depends on how strong they are. Sometimes it take a while for their energy to build up, other times they have to wait for certain "triggers" that activate them, if that makes sense.

But... Wait you said you have a hunch?

Have you noticed things moving around? Unusual sounds? And just in case... None of this has been accompanied by the smell of sulfur has it? Cuz if so, we have a bigger problem.

If there's other evidence of the paranormal... Shit you gotta tell me! Now that I know it might be worth looking into... The inconsistent reading might indicate that it's centered around something that moves around. Not a room, and not a person in this case. Probably some sort of object?

I haven't noticed anything physical, but Jack did have a dream the other day that on second thought stuck out as odd, at least to me. Particularly after you said that ghosts have other means of communicating that don't involve the physical world. Jack can probably elaborate on the specifics better than I can, though.

... This is insane. Absolutely not.

To humor you though, I had a dream where members of my family kept repeating "love and proud" over and over. They felt more clear than people in dreams usually do. Only word mentioned other than that phrase was Xavier's name.

As for the potential of a haunted object. I am not letting this nonsense trick me into thinking my recent issues with keeping track of my items have to do with ghosts. I have been distracted by other things and I have simply been misplacing my journal and leaving it out.
