thinking about the horrific implications of Gabriella loudly fucking Lestat's body double while he actively re-lives his traumatic memories of being turned and assault by a monster who only preyed on men that looked exactly like him
"You simply cannot trust Louis, he's a completely unreliable narrator and every single thing he ever said should be put to question! It's so good that we finally have Lestat's version, which is obviously the only true one - so good to finally have a reliable narrator!"
The reliable narrator:
to paraphrase jacob anderson, armand is what happens when someone goes through the most awful atrocities from a young age. armand is a result of his history. characters like lestat seem to receive a lot of grace for his actions because of his childhood making him who he is, which isn't a lie, but armand often isn't given the same treatment.
armand is a powerful ancient vampire, with abilities no other character in the show has, but is also the most desperate, co-dependent and emotionally weak. assad zaman captures this vibe perfectly. armands ultimate goal isn't some cartoon villains idea to "destroy the universe" or something similar, but to find love. not exactly the pure, healthy love that we imagine, but still he longs for companionship. we see him go to intense lengths to keep that companionship. because of the abuse armand has suffered, he attempts to recreate that dynamic he had with marius with his companions. for example the maitre/arun dynamic.
he is such an incredibly complex character which is often undermined by fans who want him to be this "black and white villain".
i dont think any of the original mcs in this show should be hated at all, the entire premise of the show is complex, diverse, and morally grey characters. and let's be real who wants to watch a show about vampires where they are all nice people and morally correct.
WHO let lestat make music sorry the only decent song is your biggest fan i cant take him seriously
WHY do we have to hear big boss again next episode. like on top of already being disgusting towards armand (unforgivable) it also manages to be the worst song in lestat's already mid discography. pick a struggle
girlhood is a pipeline from yellowjackets to interview with the vampire to hannibal to bones and all to ethel cain in any and every order
armand going to AA meetings and following the 12 steps is actually so unexpectedly in character for him
things armand loves:
structure
group of people meeting regularly and following the same rules
abstinence and self-denial
he sees an AA meeting and his eyes light up with a kaching noise like in a cartoon. he’s like oh great, rules given to me by a higher power? an opportunity for self-flagellation? set steps i have to follow to cleanse me of my sins?
of COURSE he’s signing up instantly and attending 3 meetings a day
my daughter was my sister was my throw pillow was my waitress
greetings, beloved. i have just returned from my visit to the office of the psychiatrist you picked out. don’t look at me like that, daniel, it went fine. everything is fine. we’re all fine. why is your eye twitching, beloved? regardless, after she attempted to diagnose me with several disturbances of the mind, i promptly made her aware of the fact that her husband intends to leave her for the clinic’s receptionist. it was with very little effort that i was able to induce weeping. before long, i, i was the one behind the desk. are you not proud of me, my darling? for, i was maître once more. maître of mental health. beloved you cannot be upset. stop pinching the bridge of your nose. no. no remove your head from your hands. look, my love, i made her pay me a sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for the hour. i can buy more robux now, daniel. isn’t this delightful
showing up to kill a man’s whole coven and rip out his spine and burn him alive. in converse high tops.
louis de pointe du lac your heart too big your swag too fire your eyes too green. they’ll kill you
to this day fleabag still stands as best tv series ever made in my mind. literally everything about it is so poetic and beautiful and equally gut wrenching. the fox , "it's god isn't it", "i love you." " it'll pass", the kneel scene and monologue, boo, priest noticing the fourth wall, "no one's asked me a question" , "the only person i'd run through an airport for is you" UGH how about kill me. and it's also fucking hilarious
going to start saying "it's ok i have the blood of akasha in me" when faced with any kind of problem at all
he would have interviewed the fuck out of those vampires
succession is as much about sexual abuse and incestuous abuse as it is business. logan lords over the children in all aspects of their lives, including the sexual, he is invasive because he is surveillance, he is news, he is the world. he goes missing from their childhoods to spend his time aiding and abetting and wining and dining sexual abusers and rapists, who he then brings home to them, because work and family are one, and the home and the office are one. he spends their adulthood covering it up and pawning them off to aid in managing the fallout. roman is sexually perverse and anorexic, shiv is hypersexual and transactional, kendall is infertile and oedipal. there was a dog cage and roman kept wetting the bed because kendall locked him inside and fed him dog food and they both 'enjoyed it' and logan used this or orchestrated this to find the runt and send him away, "you got two fighting dog's you send the weak one away, you punish the weak one". shiv is a daddy's girl and the favourite, in his varying states of delirium she becomes his wives and he drags her hand down to grope him under his clothes. kendall is groomed his entire life and toyed with and discarded over and over in a perverse push and pull of intimacy and violence that logan enacts as business and as sex, because in succession sex and business are interchangable. "sometimes it is a big dick competition."
