she was caught between two different stones, so to speak - EXASPERATED that in spite of her efforts, another one had made its way out into her little brother’s vicinity, and entertained at the immediate slip up. she settled for something in between, allowing her chuckle to bubble up and leave her lips, though her gaze was somewhat pointed. “it’s good,” she reasserted, trying to get him to go with it for as long as it took for her to dig out her own earphones ( stuffed in a back pocket ) and shove them into her phone, giving them to milo. he remained glued to the screen, none the wiser to what was going on around him, and put the earbuds in his ears zombielike. “you don’t have to apologize. it’s fine. that song is a heap of shit - i mighta reacted the same way.” all bets were off, it seemed, soon as he couldn’t hear. “it?” she blinked, the pointed look returning, “he’s a PERSON, for one. not an inanimate object. or a pet. and his name’s MILO.”
jamie wasted no time comprehending the look she gave him. he figured he was on thin ice at this point, but couldn’t help the upward twitch of his mouth as a giggle left her lips. “it’s just a force of habit, honestly,” he told her. he was accustomed to being more aggressive and closed off, especially with strangers. conversation was specially hard for jamie to maintain, but he had been working on it with theora and adrian for the past few years. unfortunately, he was a slow learner. he raised his eyebrows at her profanity, then looked at the oblivious kid, the song seemingly hypnotizing him. “him, then.” he said. “milo. cute name. mine’s jamie, not sure if you care.”
