I'm so very sick of this dollhouse.

Excitement filled every day at the start, picking up different wooden bits and playing pretend. The girl ones, the boy ones, the animal ones. I’ve lost most of the pieces now.

As I grew, the ceilings and the plastic furniture did not. I’ve now outgrown the box that once comfortably held me. Cramped and contorted, I don’t want to play anymore.

With walls missing, it began to feel exposed enough for others to peer inside. They watch me squirm but even lacking a section I fail to slither out. I don’t know what I'd even do once outside anyway.

Perhaps I am too ungrateful of such a beautiful dollhouse. I mourn my seat at the plastic table, ashamed it no longer fits me.

Okay but I don't think "that's not a photograph" is enough for this. That's a reduction linocut and I'm just going to assume a whole lot of the people here won't know what that means or google it. It means that the artist has had a linoleum block and has made this image by carving pieces out of it bit by bit, printing layers upon layers at different stages of carving to get the layered colours on the final print. Hypereaslistic paintings and pencil drawings and such are impressive, but I beg you all to look up how linocuts are done to get an idea of how this has been done.

Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!

I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly
