jack stirs. squints against her, or the sun, or his own disarray. the window of his weakness begins to close rapidly. if she's going to strike, she needs to do so now.

her lips find his with all the gentleness of a blade slowly slicing flesh. she savors the waking warmth of him like the steel does those first drops of blood. and then she pulls away, and he rubs his eyes, and the window snaps shut.

and she still doesn't want to kill him. fuck her entire sad, meaningless, listless life. she still doesn't want to kill him. she wants to wrap herself back up in those soul - swallowing sheets and, so stupidly, fall back asleep against him.

hello everyone sorry ive been gone. here’s my tomodachi cam to make up for it all

a list of little physical cam quirks i find myself writing over and over again:

biting her lower lip in an attempt to stop herself from grinning (unsuccessful)

hanging her head to the side so that her curls fall into her face and partially obstruct her view

rolling her ankles / pointing her feet at things rather than gesturing to them by hand

when in her work heels, clacking their plastic bottoms together to make a fun noise

smushing her cheek against someone’s head, face, hand, etc. (telltale sign that she loves u)

spinning around at random when walking side-by-side with someone, likes to walk backwards and face them

kissing a finger and then pointing that finger at someone (instead of blowing a kiss)

❝  ― gotta find some way to entertain myself, yeah ?  ❞ aside from the cigarette she's currently fumbling with, of course. calamity lifts the smoke up to her lips and eyes him through the lenses of her shoplifted shades.

he's got a kicked puppy thing going for him. she's something of a stray herself, wandering from place to place and constantly deciding whether she should take scraps or bite the hands daring to feed her. now, if you look at the situation from a bird's eye-view, she's the one with her palm open. she's the one doing the feeding. it's just a matter of whether or not he decides to indulge.

it won't break her heart either way. somewhere beneath the fur of her coat, blossom scrabbles around on her bare skin ― a constant reminder that she can care for poor things, but often decides against doing so. there's only so much a battered woman can take. only so much she can do for someone else.

still, color her intrigued.

THE CRACK WAS ENOUGH TO WIDEN HIS SMIRK. It was now something vaguely noticeable. Even he, with his stoic, ironclad exterior, wasn't immune to a little humour.

IN FACT, THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE COULD DEAL AS WELL AS WHAT HE WAS DEALT. Ghosts and ghouls were already dead, after all. He maintained the rather amused expression on his features as he silently took the allocated seat.

HEAD SLIGHTLY TURNED, HE REGARDED HER DIRECTLY AS SHE SPOKE. Eye contact wasn't always easy for him, but he did his best to maintain it - although it did wander every now and again when it became a little too much.

HIS FOCUS FELL ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF THEM WHEN THE MEDIA WAS MENTIONED. His lips began to harden once more, although the sparkle didn't completely disappear. The topic hadn't upset or angered him - but, like any pest, journalists had a tendency to irk.

calamity doe is a certified small-talker. such a strength is essential in her line of work, and a grossly underrated part of it to boot. she digests it all ― every head tilt, every emphasized word, every subtle grin ― like a starved dog who's been thrown a bone.

and dr. spengler's got jokes ! she didn't see that coming, but she catches it, exhaling quickly through her nose as it lingers in the air.

anyone with functioning eyes in their skull can tell from their TV ads that mostly all of the other ghostbusters are more excited to be on television than he is. it's all performance, and she knows a thing or two about performance. how it fights to swallow you whole.

❝  oh, if y' cared, you'd go insane !  ❞ she lightly swats at the crown of her head for emphasis. ❝  people will act like they have y' all figured out based on so little. best to just say fuck it.  ❞

there's another tangent sitting on her tongue, ready to fire off when the crinkle of plastic redirects her attention. brown eyes widen at the sight of the treat . . . as if it were a bar of solid gold rather than sponge.

she cocks her head to the side, confused. his words stupefy her further. for a moment, she just stares.

❝  that's . . .  ❞ twinkie is carefully plucked from his hand. then, she holds it in her lap, looking down at it as the gears in her head turn. ❝  you didn't have to do that. really, don't have to do anythin' more. ❞ god, she feels beyond help. still, when she looks back up, her face has softened considerably. ❝  unless you wanna split this with me ? i've never had one. ❞
