I’m really scared that I’ll never get better.

No one believes I’m as sick as I am. It hurts every second of every day. I hide it all too well and I don’t even mean to. I’m scared to open up to my therapist because I’ve always either been shut down. But then I ended up in the hospital and it’s still not enough. I’m sick of hearing how much potential I have. I’m sick of people telling me to just apply myself and manage my time better. I have to drag myself out of bed every day.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. Word for word, I have been in the same scenario as you. 

I can tell you things will get better with time. Though, I know that’s a hard thing to even believe when it’s hard enough to see the end of each day. 

Be patient with yourself. Know it’s okay to be afraid and worry that things will never get better. I think if you fear never getting better, it means you have the want to live. That’s massively important to hold onto.  

Hang in there. Keep getting out of that bed in the morning, even if that’s all you feel you’ve accomplished in a day. Momentum will build behind you at some point. The world has an interesting way of shaping up when you least expect it to, so just keep surviving.

my adhd test was negative and I've never felt more like a fraud

I really did not expect that because I waited an entire year before I even attempted to get diagnosed so I would know for sure, but I was wrong, apparently, even though I have all the fucking symptoms

I want to cry I don't know what to do

There's a few possibilities here- 

1) maybe you don't have diagnosed ADHD but you still relate heavily to all of the symptoms. That’s okay and still use all of the adhd resources you find helpful! There’s nothing wrong with that at all.

2) does the professional who administered the test deal mostly with ADHD/learning disabilities? Or more things like anxiety and depression? Sometimes, a lot of people are not/are misdiagnosed because the psychologist/psychiatrist they saw doesn’t really work with ADHD. Also, if you are an older teen or adult, some people only work with diagnosing kids with ADHD. Symptoms can/are be different in kids and adults and people who have only worked with ADHD kids won’t always recognize the symptoms in adults. That’s why so many women don’t get diagnosed even after voicing concern. 

3) Maybe there is a different diagnosis out there that better fits your case but the person who ran you through the test wasn’t looking for it. ADHD overlaps with so many other diagnosis that it can be really hard to tell. 

I am so sorry you have had to deal with this frustrating experience. But don’t let it stop you from searching for the answers you need! If you believe there’s something there, ADHD or otherwise yet to be discovered, keep looking into it. Don't. Stop. Looking. For. Answers. Sometimes we have the all the symptoms but it’s not the right diagnosis.

the confused asexual before realizing they were asexual:

► “I don’t care how someone looks, I care about their personality.” - A common response to: ‘what’s your type??”

► Yeah, literally not having a ‘type’. Never understanding how people have ‘types’.

► “I’ll never have kids I am going to have dogs.”

► Never understanding fuck, marry, kill. Especially other peoples choices in the game.

► Getting really good at saying “Thank you for asking, but I’m just not interested in dating anyone right now.”

► Avoiding sexual conversations at all costs because they are uncomfortable, confusing or truly boring.

► Being a total hopeless romantic and wondering why people are more interested in how hot someone is versus them being kind?? or smart?? or funny?? what their hobbies are?? how they treat their mom??

► Being confused when people will go out of their way, even dangerously so, to please/impress someone they think is hot. Like why? You can see the heartbreak coming a million miles away because what even is sexual attraction.

► The explanation at all family dinners for not having a significant other is that you have more important things to be worrying about right now, LIKE SCHOOL.

► Being completely oblivious to others flirting at you and also not realizing when you might be coming off as flirty because you’re just a nice person and like to hold doors open for people.

► Anytime you find a good new song and then actually listen to the lyrics and sit there like??? What does this mean?

► Wondering why thinking about holding someones hand gives you butterflies in your stomach but if you even try to imagine having sex with them your mind goes blank.

Hey, if you’re ace, that’s chill. It doesn’t mean anything is wrong with you or that you need to change. Some people just aren’t into people sexually and that’s fine. Be confident in yourself.

Update: have now come to realize I'm 99% sure I'm aro as well so uh this probably applies to a lot of aro people lol (or moreso aroaces than just aces)
