The only REAL problem with the Archie/Betty/Jughead/Veronica quad-poly relationship reveal is the lack of explicit confirmation about Jarchie hooking up. BUT actually this works because the information is revealed by Betty, who while also gay (as a bisexual woman) and generally accepting of LGBT identities— is also incredibly homophobic SPECIFICALLY and ONLY regarding Archie and Jughead.

Ok let's talk about Riverdale for a second.. I'm weirded out!

A LOT of people are pissed and I don't blame them in fact I am as well and I 1000% agree with what fans are saying about this situation.

So the Riverdale finale confirmed that Archie, Betty, Jughead, and Veronica are in a quad relationship and they are ALL dating and it shows each person hooking up except Jarchie (Archie and Jughead) and Jarchie is a HUGE ship that a lot of people support so to confirm they are in a relative but not show they hook up or kiss or even hold hands is beyond fucked up. Riverdale sucks at LGBT representation for gay MEN but have amazing representation for lesbians and straight people. Kevin has always just been there for no reason or he's nothing but drama or he has shit storylines or they just use him for gay stereotypes and it's annoying AF.

Here's how I see it....

It's homophobic to a degree.

It's very much the classic “Lesbians are acceptable because men find it hot” and obviously straight people always have representation and most movies and TV shows are about straight people ngl and I'm kinda weirded out and I'm disappointed by all this ngl and to me this show has let me down and let fans down time and time again.

The producer Sarah Schechter had this to say to variety about why Jarchie didn't hook up:

“I mean, that's, like, too hot for TV. I don't think there was a reason for it. I think there's a fantastic, fantastic amount of LGBTQ representation on the show.”

If I had dollar for Everytime something like this happens and the excuse of the cast and crew is that is would be to steamy or to hot to show them I would literally be rich AF, that's always the excuse and I'm really starting to get tired of it.

This is something that the fans have wanted for like forever and then you confirm they are in a relationship but no kiss, no hand holding, no hookups, not even those loving longing looks that couples share, sorry for the rant I'm just annoyed and Riverdale does stuff like this all the time and this is one of the many reasons I'm glad it's over and has been put to rest.

I really do have a love hate relationship with Riverdale I really hate it and it annoys me but part of me with always love it and obviously I'll always ship Jarchie and shit but I'm a little annoyed.

We need better LGBT representation than this. For mlm, trans, wlw, non-binary, all of it. we NEED better representation and respect.

Obviously this is all just my opinion and I would love to here your guys opinion on this situation as long as it's respectful y'all.

its wild bc they said theyre in a quad and its like okay theyre all together cool! and you just assume everybody is with everybody and then they make a deliberate point to show every one on one pairing except jarchie and now youre THINKING about jarchie specifically like what makes them different why arent they hooking up etc etc but you werent thinking about them specifically before just the polycule as a unit. but by excluding them they are significant enough that that interviewer had to ask about them bc its more notable than beronica. literally the absence of a jarchie kiss has become gayer than its presence
