Neovenator!!! The English Carcharodontosaurid/Carcharodontosaurian
Sorry, I haven't posted in a while here!
I usually post on my insta, so I kinda forgot I had this account, be sure to follow me there if you want like weekly stuff.
Heres another Carcharodontosaurid (or at least some of the material is) to add to the collection!
Kelmayisaurus petrolicus, Procreate
Hope yall are not getting tired of Carcharodontosaurids yet! (There’s still like 12 more). Based this guy off the super cool Collared Lizard!
Kelmayisaurus was a large carcharodontosaurid that lived during the early cretaceous period in modern day china. It is considered a basal carcharodontosaurid, being more closely related to Acrocanthosaurs and Eocarcharia than more derived genus such as Giganotosaurus. It is only known from partial jaw bones, mainly from the lower jaw.
Tameryraptor markgrafi, Procreate
Another added to the collection, coloration inspired by a Gila Monster.
Tameryraptor was a large carcharodontosaurid that lived during the late cretaceous period around 95 to 93mya. Something incredibly intriguing about Tameryraptor is that it was originally the Carcharodontosaurus saharicus holotype that Stromer described in 1931. It was only in 2025 almost 80 years after that the fossils were destroyed in world war 2 that they were re-evaluated by looking at photos of the fossils to be a new species of carcharodontosaurid, seperate from carcharodontosaurus itself. Some differences that paleontologists picked up on were differences in their teeth, tameryraptor having much more symmetrical and less curved teeth as well as a prominent nasal horn.
Sauroniops pachytholus, Procreate
Im starting to really like this style!
Another Carcharodontosaurid, I’m gonna draw them all
Sauroniops is an extremely controversial carcharodontosaurid known from only one frontal bone. However the frontal bone was incredibly thick compared to similarly sized theropods up to nearly 3 inches above the eye socket. The extreme thickness of the frontal suggested that Sauroniops could’ve had head butting tendencies. Additionally, the frontal bone is very large suggesting a powerful predator that most likely dominated the landscape. Sauroniops was discovered in the Kem Kem beds, home to another giant carcharodontosaurid, Carcahrodontosaurus itself. The name Sauroniops pachytholus means Eye of Sauron, Thick Dome, both referencing the large frontal bone. However, much of Sauroniops is still a mystery and is unknown if more material on this megatheropod will ever be discovered.
Another rough sketch style thing Veterupristisaurus is an ambiguous but undoubtedly large theropod dinosaur that lived during the late jurassic period around 150mya dominating what is now Tanzania Africa. Its name translates too Old shark lizard, fitting as it is considered as of currently the oldest carcharodontosaurid known. However, some paleontologists suggest that it wasn’t actually a carcharodontosaurid, but was part of a more broader group the carcharodontosaurians due to combination of lack of visible shared characteristics to other carcharodontosaurids, only really being similar to Lusovenator which is also sometimes not considered part of carcharodontosauridae and also lack of fossils being only known from isolated vertabrae mostly from the tail. Nonetheless it is a fascinating dinosaur and most definitely a formidable predator.
Morrison Formation Theropods, Procreate Wanted to go for that more “sketched” look this time (and cause I’m too lazy to make more refined stuff lol) Disclaimer: not all the species depicted necessarily lived at the same time, they are just from the same formation! Ex: Allosaurus fragilis and Allosaurus jimmadseni lived million years apart and never came into contact with one another. The Morrison formation is a geological layer of rock that dates back the Jurassic Period around 157-145 million years ago. The formation is famous for having an incredibly diverse ecosystem with over 12 to 24 different species of sauropods, most of which were some of the largest animals to ever walk the earth. Additionally, the formation is uniquely home to one of the most diverse group of large predatory theropods including Torvosaurus, Allosaurus, Ceratosaurus, and Marshosaurus. This amount of large predators is extremely rare only really be rivaled in diversity by the Kem Kem formation. Here I showcase just a small sector of the Morrison Formation’s preserved species, the theropods of the Morrison from the smallest to the largest!
Tyrannotitan was megatheropod belonging to the tribe Giganotosaurini, which belongs to the larger group, carchrodontosauridae, which in turn belongs to the superfamily Allosauroidea. Tyrannotitan lived during the early cretaceous period around 120-100mya and roamed what is now Argentina, the same area as the later Giganotosaurus and Mapusaurus. Tyrannotitan, similar to the other members of giganotosaurini was one of the largest theropods/land predators, to ever live reaching lengths of 40-43ft and weights of up to 6-8 tons. Tyrannotitan was part of the Cerro Barcino formation which as also home to the sauropods Chubutisaurus and Patagonian, which were probably prey items for the large predator. It was also home to a smaller theropod, a ceratosaurian named Genyodectes.

Siats Meekerorum was a large theropod dinosaur that lived about 100 million years ago during the late Cretaceous period. It is only known from extremely fragmentary remains causing confusion on where it should be classified on the theropod family tree, as well as what category it even fits into. At first, Siats was thought to be part of Carcharodontosauria, either being a carcharodontosaurid or a Neovenatorid, however recently it has been debated that it is actually part of Megaraptora which is now classified within Tyrannosauroidea. However its placement is still widely uncertain. It is known that the specimen that the fossils originated from was a juvenile and not fully grown, which could indicated that Siats could reach lengths of nearly 40ft and weigh over 4 tons making it the largest predator in North America since Acrocanthosaurus, correlating with the time of the extinction of Acrocanthosaurus, which was also about the same time Siats appeared in the fossil record. Siats eventual extinction is what eventually allowed for the domination of Tyrannosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus rex. Due to the uncertainty of Siats and its actual appearance, I opted to base off the drawing on its Megaraptor classification, but still incorporated Neovenatorid traits such as the head shape.
Spicomellus doodle! New material for this early ankylosaur has been discovered showing that it had crazy spiked armor around its neck and I just had to draw this beast. What predator would even dare to mess with this ball of spines?
I thought it would be fun to recreate the Spider-Man pointing meme with Spinosaurus and its 2 doppelgängers (which could actually just be spinosaurus).
Despite what a lot of people say bout it, I absolutely love the JWD Giganotosaurus design. Yes it may be super inaccurate, yes it may look more like an Acrocanthosaurus, but it looks so awesome. Here’s it with its real life counterpart, see the differences for yourself!
Maybe the Coelophysis should run before it ends up being the Postosuchus's second meal...
Siats is having an existential crisis. Hopefully he can pull through the difficult times with the help of the club and similar victims of taxonomy!
Kelmayisaurus and Sinotyrannus
A rare instance when a Carcharodontosaurid could've interacted with a Tyrannosaurid! Would they have possibly met in reality? Probably not since they were from completely different formations on opposite sides of China, but its fun to imagine!
