have u guys noticed the phenomenon that's like

- m/f ship between a nonblack man & a Black woman

- it's either canon (e.g. mel/jayce arcane, arthur/guinevere bbcmerlin) or entirely plausible (e.g. prism or coupé/robert dispatch)

- fanbase overwhelmingly pairs nb man off with another nb man and disengages from the Black woman character, shunting her into a background wise & sassy caretaker role (for which there is a name) or leaving her out of fanworks entirely

- fans who do this ^ claim it is an expression of love and admiration for the Black woman character, actually, bc the nb man (who may be her canonical partner) "can't handle all that" (he may be perfectly competent and engaged; she may be totally low maintenance; it has no bearing), she's just too wonderful (too much) and out of his league (lacking in flaws and interiority and fan appeal)

have we all observed this and can we see the multiple dimensions in which it is racist ☝️ i'm not bringing it up to make any beautiful fujos feel bad abt shipping this or that, just to ask for some consideration of what ppl are saying abt Black women when they make their excuses to each other. like you can just not make the excuses. yk?

It really is funny that we're getting a V6 before we're getting a M5, a C5, W5, or any of the other gamelines Mage the Ascension is one of the big three and just got a book for M20 edition last year. Are we going to be having the fourth edition of Mage running concurrently alongside V6? (Please yes. I don't want M5. Don't make M5, I beg you. Only make M6 if 6th Edition is good)

I have the theory that they tried to make M5, but they had to make so many changes to the rules that it got converted into the foundation of what 6th edition will be

From my little experience making homebrew I think 5th edition doesn't have game systems robust enough to acomodate multiple splats without feeling too shallow or too similar to vtm

And from what we got I think 5th edition is only capable of doing vtm good, if they couldn't nail it with hunter or werewolf, I have little to no hope for things like Mage or Changeling, at least in 5th edition, let's hope 6th edition is different

I disagree tbh, I've had a lot of success homebrewing 5th for Werewolf, Sorcerer, and cross splat stuff, and I think the main obstacle in the way of M5 or C5 is the fact that 5th Edition stuff is made with more disdain for the setting than love, and Changeling and Mage NEED you to love the work to write it well. W5 and to a lesser extent V5 treat established lore as something to be laughed at rather than built on and improved, and that will never work for something that can be as absurd as Mage or Changeling.

Honestly, I'm half considering writing an M5 of my own when I'm done with W5.5 and Human, I've got a few ideas but need to finish other things up first
