The following is a mirror of my comment here https://official-furby.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Cammers1995/WIKI_NOTICE_FROM_HEAD_ADMIN?commentId=4400000000000067280 which I fully expect to be deleted within a couple days.
"I created this wiki along with a friend cc in 2012"
And the lies begin again. For those who don't know, Cammers1995 has been a pathological liar in the Furby fandom for at least 15 years. I kept this to myself for a long time for the sake of keeping the peace, and in the name of giving second chances, but since he's decided to go scorched earth and try to wrestle back control of the wiki, I'm coming forward with all that I know.
So, first off, he claims in this blog post that the other admin account, ccrogers15, is his friend. This is just his alt account and he even admits that it is in his own user profile (archived here in case he changes it.) I have no idea why he lies about this again in this announcement when he's already come clean. Maybe he forgot he stopped lying. It can be hard to keep track if you lie about a lot of things at once. Does this really matter that much? No, but it demonstrates how prone he is to lying about seemingly inconsequential things.
"taking any information off this wiki and putting it there is plagiarism" Another lie. All fandom content is available under CC-BY-SA as you can see above this very comment section. Content was also imported with its full edit history and usernames. I welcome the "legal action" he threatens because any lawyer would laugh in his face, although this is most likely just an empty threat, aka a lie.
Now for other stuff. There is misinformation in the Furby fandom that spread via this wiki. Much of this was created by Cammers1995. This ranges from the mundane (quantity of certain models produced) to the absurd. The famous World Trade Center Furby falsehood—the claim that there were thousands of Millennium Furbys in the wreckage of the World Trade Center in the wake of 9/11—was his invention. There is no evidence for such an actual event, but this idea spread in the Furby community for many years, and the Millennium Furby was even referred to as the World Trade Center Furby for some time.
Please have a look at this post from Cammers1995. This is a post about a potential takedown of the wiki, in favor of a new one.
I will quote certain sections of it so you don't have to click the link, but it is archived in case it gets deleted.
"Official Furby Wiki" was obviously, a bad name. I believe this name was chosen in order to make it the most viewed Furby Wiki. Around this time this wiki was started, there were a couple other Furby Wikis. But this one became the most visited and edited, likely because of the name. Well, this Wiki has never been affiliated with Hasbro and never likely will be. I made an attempt to appeal to Fandom to change the URL of the wiki but they refused saying because the wiki was so busy and had so many pages, and its age, that the wiki was stuck with its URL. Bummer. At least I tried.
So, first off, saying "I believe this name was chosen" is a strange choice of phrase when he himself is the one who created and named the wiki, and admitted he named it this way because he thought it would draw attention, as you can see in this post on the old Adopt a Furby forum. In this very thread you can see my 13 year old self getting mad at him because there was already made up garbage on the wiki, like a fictional press conference behind closed doors announcing a rerelease of the original Furby. Obviously this never materialized but it stayed on the wiki for years anyway.
The claim that he appealed to Fandom to change the wiki name and they said no is, I suspect, another lie. Fandom has a form for name change requests here and there is no indication that they will reject a request because of the size of the wiki (and in the grand scheme of things, this is really not such a large wiki anyway.)
There seems to be alot of fake information on this wiki. Admittedly, yes, I contributed to some of it. Alot of us added content from other wikis, fansites, forums, news sites, etc that later ended up being exposed as fake. It isn't our fault that those sites made up fake content, but it is our fault that we added it to our wiki. One such topic of debate lately is the "World Trade Center Furby" which many believe does not exist. Which is why I changed the page name and removed all references to it.
The false information Cammers1995 inserted was not from any other fan sites or forums, as far as I am aware. The World Trade Center lie specifically I am sure was him. He finally scrubbed this from the wiki because he was contacted by a Youtuber investigating this claim, and he wanted to cover his tracks. You can see the results of their investigation here. I recommend watching it.
The rest of the blog post is about him wanting to migrate the wiki off of fandom, which is the very thing he is throwing a temper tantrum about now because it was done without involving him. However, this migration was done in coordination with all active administrators, aka the people who have actually tried to repair this wiki and turn it into a semi-reliable source of information (I myself only applied for admin so I could delete pages that were just things Cammers made up.) We did not consult Cammers both because he has been inactive for many years, and because he has spent years spreading misinformation in the community, which is the exact opposite of who you want moderating a wiki project.
I don't know why Cammers likes to make things up and lie about everything. I don't want to be mean about it. But he is now spreading lies about myself and the other unpaid volunteers who spent hours upon hours moderating this wiki, while he made up lies for a few years in the 2010s and then abandoned it. I feel obligated to set the record straight. I hope anyone who believes in the concept of a wiki as a reliable source of information will join us on the new wiki.
