Thoughts from the coffee shop window

Looking out the cafe window. "Again" by John Legend plays. Think about life. Sip mocha. Friend & music artist Janelle Kroll goes on stage at venue here in Chelsea in 10 minutes. Watching diverse pedestrians walk by. Reminded that I love NYC. Drizzle begins, city goers dodge raindrops. Still reminded of the void for companionship. Frustration from being the good guy. Not feeling as though I really have a place to fit in in the world. Aware that the world owes me nothing. Never one to play the victim. Never-ending search for just a piece of the world to call my own, where I'll meet the one for me, and live the love I've dreamed about since childhood. Disney love. Storybook love. You Are Connected to Nelson Mandela's Passing

Let's get one thing straight people. You too can have just as much impact and leave a lasting legacy like Nelson Mandela. Recognize that the life he led was based on one decision at a time, followed by one action at a time. I truly believe it is important that we find a piece of ourselves in the great ones that pass before us and live among us. Why? Because part of understanding whom you are is recognizing the connection (the human connection) between each of us, in conjunction with the ability you have to affect others (an individual, the masses and/or generations to come). I suggest each of us celebrate Nelson Mandela's passing via recognizing the bold, uncomfortable, but strong choices he made. Study and reasonably emulate some of the actions he took to encourage, empower, fight for and free others. Change always comes down to a decision followed by action. The great (human) thing about it, is that via our connection, each of us has the capacity to make as monumental an impact as the world's beloved Nelson Mandela. [The day is not over.
