She shrugged. “Were finally getting shit done, now that Carrows finally come back. Ive been doing my own training while she was gone, But I cant speak for the rest of the team.”
“You guys always hold your own, even without intense training, one way or another. I thought about trying out for the Ravenclaw team but I don’t think I’m competitive enough.”

“Oh…” She looked away awkwardly, the topic making her a bit uncomfortable.
He nodded, letting the subject drop automatically when he sensed discomfort. “How’s Qudditch, you’re on the team right?”

“Really?” Soleil said, grinning widely. “Didn’t think I’d get any of them right.” She laughed. “Okay, my turn.”
She tilted her head to the side, trying to come up with facts which was much harder than she thought it’d be. “This is not the game to be playing with a-” She stopped herself from finishing the sentece. “I mean,” She fake coughed. “You know me too well.”
“Got it. A, I couldn’t speak English till I was like five. B, Sera and I once had another sibling who died when we were little. And C, I actually know how to step dance.”
“Are you implying you’ve led a scandalous life secretly? Because that could be fun to unfold.” He joked.
“Hmm, well the English one sounds legit because I know you guys lived in France, I can picture you danding pretty easily but you’ve never once mentioned another sibling though you might not depending on age and circumstances.” He said thoughtfully.
“I think C is the lie. You don’t actually know how to step dance.” He guessed, looking over at her.

“Yeah that sounds more like you.” Walter nodded, watching him play the same level he had played a minute ago. “But then what would be the fun part of actually being a zombie? Getting killed by your friends and family?”
Jasper was good, there was no denying. “Okay, fine. You’re good but you’ve had years of practise unlike me.”
“Better to be killed by those who love me than become a killer myself.” Jasper said with a shrug, frowning as he got to the harder part of the level.
“True, blame Jess, I always wanted to go outside and play soccer or go on playgrounds and she always made me stay in and play video games instead.” He said with a grin. Jess laughed and shrugged, “True.”

“Since birth, she’s older. She doesn’t go here though. She’s non-magic.”

She shrugged. “Nope. Never need or want anyone around, thats ow it is with me.”
“I mean I know there’s times everyone wants to be alone but I’m too much of an extrovert, I just want people around.” He rested his head on his knees. “Especially my sister...”

“There’s got to be someone you want around, I mean definitely not me, maybe not anyone at Hogwarts, but friends, family, there’s always someone.”

“Me too.” Soleil exclaimed, letting out a chuckle. “I’m just horrible at solving them.
“Hmm, let’s see.” She pursed her lips, eying him up and down. “You might have mentioned something about your parents having complicated relationships so, you having only three cousins doesn’t seem that right but also the idea of you having a piercing somewhere is just ridiculous.” She smirked. “Not that you can’t pull it off but you are a very cautious and a ‘medical’ person so you probably know all the dangers of piercing your body. And you don’t really drink much so it can’t be a drunken mistake either.”
She paused. “This is hard. But I’m going to go with the piercing thing. That’s the lie.”
“I like to think I’m good but who knows really.” Jasper said with a laugh.
“Oh you have been listeing, that was a well thought out argument.” He said, grinning, “And you are right, I could never get a piercing, plus I’ve never been one to do things just for... aesthetic purposes. I only have three cousins because my Moms are all only children, and my Dad’s only got one sibling, I haven’t met them, they don’t exactly apprive of my Dad’s lifestyle. I guess they’re actually normal.” He said with a chuckle. “I made it too easy by giving you lasagne after all, you’ve seen me on lasagne night.”
“Alright so one point to you, now time to see if I can match up.”

A feeling of unease curled through his chest looking over Jasper’s agitated state. His frantic desperation so stark that it would be impossible for Carter to dismiss as simple nightmares. “Take a deep breath, Jasper.” He placed his hands on the Ravenclaw’s shoulders and frowned when he felt the chill of his clothes. Jasper hadn’t just rolled out of bed with night terrors and gone straight here. Carter pulled his wand out summoning his own and conjuring a thick coat from thin air for Jasper. He draped it over the boy’s shoulders as he stepped out of his rooms.
“Don’t worry, Jasper. I was already awake and don’t apologize. I prefer if you asked for help.” Carter reassured, feeling more awake then he had a minute ago. He gestured for Jasper to follow as he set off at a brisk trot. “Come on we’ll go see your sister, and if nothing else you can just say you really wanted to have breakfast with her.”
Jasper followed the Professors direction and took a deep breath, it did nothing to settle the feeling of dread that had spread through him, but it did allow some logic to slip in, even of something was wrong, his father left for work not long ago, he had time, he could get there in time. He had to. He started slightly when he felt the jacket touch him, but welcomed it, he had’t even realised he was cold until he felt warmth start to spread. Jasper followed the Professor, matching pace.
“Thank you.” He said, following, “I don’t know if she’d believe it but... don’t mention anything about dreams or anything... If everything’s fine I don’t want her to think I’m that worried. She’ll just get annoyed.” Jasper said as they moved quickly through the halls.

She shrugged. “Dont I always? I thought everyone knew that.”
“No one always wants to be alone.” Jasper contradicted, “Sometimes maybe, even most of the time, but not always.”
“No, its actually because no one ever really comes around here at this hour.”
“Sorry, guess I kind of ruined that.” Jasper said, moving forward and sitting down. “Just wanted to be alone?”

“….And out of all of the places on the grounds, you come here?”
“It’s one of the most calming places, I assume that’s why you are here too.”

Being a morning person Carter normally had the calm of the early morning to himself before the hectic chaos of the day began. On a typical day unless something had happened the previous night, he was up with the sun. His hands were warming up with a cup of tea when the still peace of the morning was shattered with the loud banging.
It was a near thing that he didn’t spill the hot drink on himself. With the time and the banging he assumed it was something urgent and quickly hurried to the door. When Carter pulled the door open he wasn’t expecting to see Jasper nor was he expecting the somewhat haggard appearance. The boy had the look of someone who tossed and turned all night. “Jasper? Why are you- Is there something wrong?”
“I need you to apparate me home.” He said, “I just... Something’s wrong. It has to be.” Jasper ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm down, he’d gotten himself worked up ont he jog over here. “Even if it’s not, I need to see her, see that she’s okay. The dreams... They seemed too real and they wont stop.” He said before he could stop himself, he’d never mentioned the nightmares to anyone before, he even silenced his curtains so his dorm mates didn’t know.
He glanced over at the Professor. “I probably sound crazy, I feel crazy but I just... I need to know that it’s just paraoia and not... something else.” He glanced down at his pajama bottoms, he’d never bothered to change into clothes. “Sorry to disturb you, I just.... We talked about me not apparating myself and the whole warning thing so...”

“Oh, um, no one. What are you doing out here?”
Jasper shrugged, “I... couldn’t sleep. Thought I’d get some air, clear my head a bit.”

It must have only been half four, Jasper hadn’t slept a wink, all nights his dreams were plagued with consuming nightmares, it had been getting worse by night and tonight he’d mostly given up. He slipped out of the dorm careful not to disturb the others and wandered the halls aimlessly hoping to bump into someone and yet, the halls were empty leaving him alone with those intrusive thoughts.
Odds are she was fine, and he was overreacting, he’d talked this out with people, he was being paranoid, he needed to give her space but Jasper just couldn’t shake the thought that maybe space was the last thing she needed in that big house with so many people living in it and yet no one really there at any time you needed them.
He ended up at the top of the astronomy tower, staring out at the first streaks of light start to make their way across the sky, he started naming all the bones in the human body to focus on something, but got distracted as the light caught and he saw the streaks of red across the sky, something settled and he knew he had to at least check on her, make sure she was okay.
He wasn’t sure why but he jogged to Carters dorms, not sparing a thought that it was still early and banging on the door. “Professor Wesson?”

She tugged her sleeve down over the bracelet and stood up. “I wouldnt really call it intruding. I was just sitting here.”
Jasper glanced over at her, watching as he asked, “Who were you talking to?”

Mira jumped a bit, surprised by the voice. She glanced over at the boy and sighed. “Its past curfew, no one should be out here.”
“Yeah, that was kind of the point.” He said with a wry smile, leaning against a tree and looking out at the water. “Sorry if I’m intruding.”
