Autism Resources Masterlist:
So… the other day, I had a conversation with my counselor and asked if they had any resources for autistic adults, and because they don’t specialize in autism, they asked one of their colleagues, who gave them a toolkit from Autism $peaks.
(If you don’t know, A$ has a really terrible history of marginalizing autistic people and treating autism like something that needs to be cured, so a lot of their language describing it is pretty negative and not at all helpful).
This is why I stayed up until 1:30 am the other night working on a resource list of my own, both to share with them and with anyone else who might need it 😅
Mine focuses more on neurodiversity and autism diagnoses taking place later in life (primarily with autistic women in mind, but this is the case for a lot of people, so a lot of the resources apply to more than one gender).
They range from first-person blog pages to informational pages and scientific articles, and I found a lot of them pretty helpful. They’re organized by category, with the more helpful ones at the top of their category (although I found most things on the list worth reading). Again, this was a list originally for my therapist, so I kept the tumblr references to a minimum, sorry 😅
Some of the research articles are pretty dense, so I might do a separate post with mini-summaries on the more complicated ones if anyone’s interested (but I am a pretty busy person, so it might take a little while). Research-heavy articles are marked by an asterix (*).
But anyways, here’s the list! If anyone has other good resources, feel free to let me know, and I might add them to it!
