The past 24 hours had been the most chaotic thing Lily Potter had ever experienced. She remembered the Death Eaters come in and grab her, whisper something in her ear about her father agreeing to their demands. They dragged her out of the room that she’d been held captive in for what felt like years, and after that, everything was a blur. The next thing she knew she was riding on the back of a broom and she fell from it into the Great Hall during some sort of school-wide dance. So many familiar faces had gathered around her after she hit the ground, but Lily felt nothing. She didn’t want them to see her like this. She didn’t want to be near them like this. She was weak, vulnerable, and her morale had been depleted. Her face remained blank as they carried her to the hospital wing where she immediately passed out with exhaustion.
She woke up with a jolt and immediately hopped out of bed, running towards the door with no real plan. She just needed to run. To move. To escape herself, the thoughts that she knew all too well would plague her if she ever sat still again. Her legs were weak and wobbly and she was out of breath within an instant, but at least she was in control of herself. She pushed the door to the hospital wing open and ran into the halls without even thinking about anyone trying to stop her.
Ever since Lily had returned, Jay hadn’t left her side. The matrons had tried to get him to leave, but something in his eyes told them he wasn’t letting Lily out of his sight for a long time. Jay had finally fallen asleep when he all of a sudden heard footsteps.
His eyes shot open as he saw Lily running out the door. He jumped up and ran after her. “Lily! Lily, wait! You’re safe, I promise! Come back!” The thought was dancing around in his head that the girl he had fallen in love with was gone, but that didn’t mean he was giving up. This was his Lily, no matter what happened to her.
