when i was but a wee lad i randomly got fixated on certain names (mostly made-up ones) because the specific combination of letters was satisfying. one of these names was azlin/aslin (pronounced either as azz-lynn (like in the word 'jazz') or aze-lynn (like in the word 'maze'), so when i signed up for roblox i wanted my username to be azlin. but azlin was taken so instead i used az1in. a couple years ago i added two extra Zs cuz i thought it was just better. it's also only pronounced azz-lynn now, i don't like the pronunciation aze-lynn anymore

So I didn’t like my original username because I felt like it was a little cringe and gold is one of my favourite metals and dust bc I couldn’t think of anything else.

Gold-dust as in gold dust from ttte because it looked like gold glitter and at the time I loved glitter and sparkling shit. (I still like sparkling shit)

I’m not going to say my opinion on gold dust it’s self from the series because I do not know if I want to elaborate and I do not have an opinion on it really aside from I like that it looks like gold glitter.

Not to mention I’m a huge ttte fan and its one of my favourite things.

Idk if anyone wants to do this themself, so anyone feel free to reblog if they see this. As for my user name origin? Well my first username CinderCat was from my deviant art since that's its username, I kept that one for a while so people could follow me over to tumblr when I changed my main active site. The username itself is after my cat. As for Jayde Jots? Well it comes from a memory of my last year in primary school, for my non-aussies that's when I was 12. The previous year I had bounced around to 5 different schools because I was getting constantly bullied, the last one I landed with I happened to enter at the beginning of the school year. This school only worked so well for me because it was so small, while other schools had around 3 classes for each year level, this one only had 1 class per year level, so it was really hard to get away with anything when everyone knew everybody, and that extended to the time there. So at this school, you tended to keep the same class mates for your entire tenure there because there were no other classes they could be put into. So when came me at the last year before high school, it became a big show and tell game with the particular one of putting your name to a word that discribes you that also happens to start with the same letter as your name, and you can guess what I choose... Not what my username is! (plot twist?!) All of the other good "J" options had been picked by the time it got to me, so I ended up picking something stupid that gave the class a good laugh at the new clown. Afterwards I tried to argue a new word to discribe me, that being "jots" on the account that I considered myself to be pretty creative. I remember arguing with the teacher about changing it to try and save my first impression but the damage was already done, with the laughing little crotch goblins poking fun at me the rest of the year. But I still held onto the name in my back pocket for whenever I was ready to go all in, Jayde Jots!

Recently, I was standing outside my son’s classroom waiting to talk to his teacher. I stood on one side of the hallway, not even close to the center. At some point, a man came walking along. I was standing right in his path, but the hallway was empty, so I logically expected him to swerve around me. Instead he kept walking right toward me, got to me, and stopped, as if waiting for me to get out of his way. I didn’t; I just smiled politely at him. He finally walked around me, clearly annoyed that I hadn’t leapt out of his manly path.

Now I’m wishing I’d leapt aside, taken off my jacket and laid it on the floor before him, then bowed deeply and said, “My Liege!”

Confirmed. I once had to rush back inside a convention hall as the con was closing in order to a retrieve a sick friend’s medication, and I didn’t understand why people in the crowd were jumping out of my way (literally—one guy vaulted a table) until I realized I was dressed as the Winter Soldier and doing the Murder Walk because that’s just how I walk in those boots. I got the meds, got out, and made a mental note.

I repeated the experiment later, wearing the boots but otherwise my usual clothing and mimicking the expression I thought I’d had at that moment. People parted like I was Charlton Heston.

I now wear that style of boots whenever possible. I recently had a man do a double-take as I walked by and ask me, politely, where I had served because I “looked like a soldier.” I’m not current or former military. I was wearing a flowy purple peasant top and looked as un-soldierlike as possible.

Moral of the story: wear comfortable shoes, square your shoulders, and walk like you’ve been sent to murder Captain America.

So are we gonna call the 3rd revival of Moon "Newer Moon" or "Moon^3." Or alternatively, we could revive Nexus instead to add a bit of flare (/silly)

Just kind of what I think would happen if there was a confrontation between this Eclipse and Moon B) I genuinely don’t think Moon’s dying again, but he most certainly is going to get a bit roughed up, surely.

This one was a bit quicker, I was messing around with a faster way of shading/lineart (usually my shading takes forever, but I'm trying to cut down on that time. That's also why whenever I post a sketch on my story I finish it like a month later LMAOOOO). I like how it turned out and it was my first time trying the dry gouache brush, yay! ^^

Extras:

My pose thumbnails always look like abstract scribbles, but specifically here because I was struggling with it. I wanted Moon's face to be visible but it looked awkward with the angle I was tryna do, alas.

Newer Moon (/Moon V3) as well cause I joked about it earlier. The design isn't anything special (it's pretty much just a placeholder outfit to draw the little chibis), but I think an AU where Moon kicks the bucket for a third time would be so interesting because, at this point, Sun and Moon would've completely swapped roles personality wise compared to the start of the series. I imagine Moon V3 having a very similar personality to early Nexus but with a much more mellow energy.

Every time I draw something Infection related, I think of Telltale's The Walking Dead Game. I bring this up because I can totally see Infected AU Dazzle as Clem and her Moon as Lee. (Lee should be Sun, but Dazzle's Sun is the first to get bitten so doesn't really work) (MASSIVE TWDG SPOILERS IN THE LINK but here's the specific scene I'm thinking about when I suggest this)

I had a rough time making Moon's hands look like he was actually pushing him away, still not suuuper happy with the hands BUT this is meant to be a quick drawing so I let it go.

I don't usually do green tinted stuff cause I'm not a huge fan of green unless its harmonious. Though I suppose if Gaster is green I will actually have to get used to all shades of green, even my least favs.

(My least fav is olive green/military olive, especially in my own art -- I rarely use it for that reason)

Man... I just decided to take a trip down memory lane, and after seeing this again, it makes me realise I haven't drawn my copter soldier girl in forever. Even after sending her to be trapped in my mythic au, I haven't done much. When I get my next break maybe I'll draw her again for old times sake.

And I'm sad that this is probably the reason why. Doey is essentially immune to harm unless you freeze him first, and because the Prototype's style of attack is to impale or stab, "Mr. Childs-Nightmare-Fuel" would be at a huge disadvantage if they were to go on 1v1. It's more than likely why he manipulated us into causing Safe Haven to explode, because while he couldn't get at Doey physically, he could get at him mentally very easily. And if we happen to take him out in the process like we have 3 times before? Well then we've taken out his biggest competition. Unless there is another dough toy in the factory we're unaware of, there is officially nobody left who could end him quickly in a fight. I rly miss Doey, he was the one I related to the most and is my favourite. But with the Doctor's revival and the continuation of the game, I'm holding out hope that Doey could be alive.

Ok so James still has living siblings but he’s not too found of them because they’re all vain (irony)

Also because I saw a headcannon somewhere that I forgot (sorry) that mass produced engines share similar faces.

Whoever James and his siblings share not just a FACE but a VOICE too for some reason.

Also whoever named them went “Well the first one was named James… so lets give some of them names with J”

However obviously not ALL his siblings survived being scraped as there were 128 of them.

Also they all love and adore their big brother but James doesn’t really want anything to do with them. Makes sense since he’s trying to be his own person but he shares a face and voice with 9 other engines.

Also in this au Donald and Douglas are the same, sharing a voice but Douglas is quieter.

Here’s what their livery’s look like:

Jimmy : dark green

Jack : brown

Vanessa: navy blue

Ruby : dark red

Casey: L&YR black with red and white stripes

Cassie: L&YR black with red stripes

Also they all appear on the island at some point because Sir topham assumed that since Gordon is depressed about all his siblings being scraped except Scotsman that the other engines with siblings might so due misunderstandings James’s siblings get to be temporarily on loan.

Despite the fact that all of them work worse than James. Like all of them technically suck at their jobs.

I've got a similar head cannon for James myself; only the backstory is very different.

For me I took heavy inspiration from this audio drama by Master of the Lemons-

And The Unlucky Tugs complete history of James-

I went an entirely more dramatic route for how I characterise James thanks to a few key facts, 1 being best said from a quote direct from Tug; "-But he's just some mougle, a medium-sized general-purpose engine built for mixed traffic work, a common workhorse. He's nothing special; he so wants to believe he's a flashy Porsche, but in reality, he's just a Honda Civic with a flashy paint job." And also from the whole scene of James's nightmare in The Token, the voice in his head telling him he's disposable, a part of a small engine pollacy, that he's a drop in the bucket. And then the 2nd fact being that yes, James has over 100 siblings, but he's also 3- a modified version. As a background I like to imagine that James's old railway treated him as mentioned above, just awash with his siblings in a life that didn't value individuality. A cog in the machine and nothing less. So when James gets chosen to become modified, he suddenly stands out; he becomes a different-shaped cog, or a drop in the bucket that's not water. And his siblings were jealous as hell. They were so angry that James got all this special treatment for the sake of an experiment, regular maintenance, special consideration for work, and none of them got the same thing. Still forced to do the same back-breaking labour, worked to the frames, and not get any regular basic check-ups. And worst of all, I bet James was the only one to get a name. Sir Topham didn't name James like Percy, James came to Sodor with a name already attached. I bet that would've made them all absolutely furious at their brother. James probably became an outcast and ruthlessly bullied into the dirt every day by his family, and because the railway probably couldn't keep up the tailored maintenance for James by the time the trials had ended, he was probably sold off to Sodor for that reason. I like to come back to the engines family drama often, and James I just picture shutting down all line of conversation about his family if anybody brings it up. Lord have mercy if heaven forbid one of his siblings actually came to Sodor, James would straight up fight them to derail, to hell with what the fat controller would say or do to him, he'd want it to be very clear that his sibling is not welcomed or liked.

Suddenly remembered that the Trainspotters Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Engines exists and I can't help but wonder what it entails. We know that it prevents the engines from being punished physically, but what else does it cover?

We know from Thomas' Day Off and Thomas the Babysitter that the engines can have days off and breaks, but is that mandated by the Society or something they just happen to get?

I imagine they'd be the ones responsible for ensuring an engine's more human health is met. As an example, while the steam/diesel works are responsible for an engine's engineering physical health, I believe the society's job is to oversee an engine's more human traits. Like things related to their faces and their mental health since on a human that would all require to be seen by a doctor of some kind. I think their most common service would be providing counseling or therapy, but they might also provide the giant medical equipment to treat an engine's face. If for example an engine has a crash and their face gets wounded, the society would send out their doctors to close cuts, fix maybe broken noses, give eye tests, and if it's been particularly gnarly, give plastic surgery. I also imagine they'd be responsible for providing diagnoses for disabilities and manufacturing aids, Whiff needing glasses comes to mind. But like I said, I think their most common/popular service would be counseling or therapy. I would find it very hard not to believe a lot of the engines on Sodor have a decent bit of trauma behind their literal decades of service, let's not forget that even our titchular numbers through 1 to 6 are all over 100 years old, and even a lot of the diesels are 60+ years old in the present day. From surviving, serving, and even being built for the 2 world wars, to watching, caring, and celebrating the humans they've built bonds and connections with pass with time, and not even getting started on their own trauma from crashes, accidents, to even touching the topic of scrapped family and firends, I can easily see all of the engines that are over 20 years old having some bad experience they don't like to talk about. Even in present day for example- Pip and Emma, the newest and currently youngest mainline engines on Sodor, would be having concerns about their siblings since their class has been stopped from servicing to London anymore and are being replaced by newer models. The two must find it terrifying to watch as every day they arrive to London only to see fewer of their siblings arrive anymore, watching them slowly fade out and suddenly become the oldest engines standing at the platform. In events like that is where I can see Sir Topham Hatt getting them counseling, cutting the head of the snake off before it has the chance to get ugly when the girls eventually hear their siblings are being scrapped. That's what I imagine the society would be there for.

Part 2 for Zero's to Hero's!

The next half of the Zeros to Heros AU is now upon us! These 2 stories will be happening at the same time as the other, with Ten Cents and Zip leaving for San Francisco to undergo ocean-goer training, and the rest of the Star Fleet being kept in Bigg City with their new rivals the Arias Fleet. A lot is happening despite being on opposite ends of the US. This is where you guys get to vote- Diamonds in the Rough: This series will be the one that focuses on what's happening in Bigg City. It'll dive into the origins of the Arias along with how the new Star fleet will be getting along with each other. With winter hitting the harbour hard, grabbing work becomes an arms race, and with some members even competing against family or developing other complicated feelings there is no shortage of drama. Service to the Seven Seas: This series will follow Zip and Ten Cents from their trip out of Bigg City, to their training in Cali, and then their race back home to be in time for the move to the UK. Watch as the two grow together and develop individually, going out into dangerous open waters and solving hidden mysteries, this series will be filled with action.
