some people on insta said i should post my workout routine since i mentioned how im so happy with the results, so here’s my little workout guide for my fellow trans folk! I focused on getting a more masculine body because obviously that’s what I want. I’m so happy with the results, this workout is saving my fucking life!!!! I can’t get on T soon so this has really been keeping my dysphoria in check. I barely get body dysphoria, i love how my clothes looks on me, i love feeling confident for once in my life!!! HOWEVER Don’t go overboard with working out my friends. Do not work out in a binder, you MUST take days off to let your muscles heal, and you CAN’T starve yourself! Fitness is all about health and diet! Take care of yourself. This is also MY workout routine, you may not get the same results as I have! Every body is different.
EDIT: ahh I really didn’t expect this thing to blow up….A few people have brought it to my attention that some of the nutrition here could be wrong/not work for everyone. I apologize if I caused any harm. I think I stressed enough that you shouldn’t starve yourself to lose weight. That’s very dangerous, and if you’re prone to such habits I suggest don’t count calories, etc, and just make sure your diet is very nutritious. I just provided a way to lose weight that my doctor told me about. You don’t need to lose weight if you don’t want to. Obviously if you’re already thin there’s no need to make a goal to lose weight; that’s dangerous. Also, some of this may or may not be helpful depending on your body type. I was underweight before working out so I have no idea how it would affect someone overweight! Please don’t hold this post to such a high standard; this was just my own routine and things I do to stay in shape, I obviously can’t cater to everyone. I literally didn’t expect this post to blow up like it did, this was literally just for a few people. Sorry for any harm it caused!

When I hear the term hooded rat, I always think of this.
I made capped rat and masked rat too, and now we accidentally have a series.
Oh, and…
Champagne rat.

Worst thing you can say to any content creator:
“So it’s like…”
This is seriously the most disheartening thing to hear. Not only because it makes us feel like we’re unoriginal, but also like we’ll never be as good as what we were just compared to.
Speaking as a content creator, I think rather than running away from the idea that we can never be original, we need to embrace it. People are ALWAYS going to be reminded of other things because thats how our brain works. We look for patterns. Use it to your advantage. If someone says “That reminds me of _____” go “Yeah, its similar but xyz is different!” Because I guarantee you they will be more likely to look into your content that way. If someone told me “Yeah, Im writing a book about a woman who unwillingly ends up in the world of the fae and slowly learns some things about herself she didnt expect.” Id be like “Oh, so kind of like A Court of Thorns and Roses?” And they could easily go, “Yeah, but without the gross abusive romance and the transformation thing.” And I’d be like “Cool! I’ll check it out!” Because now I have a better frame of reference.
You’re ALWAYS going to be unoriginal. There isnt a single idea that hasnt been done before. Learn to embrace it instead of run from it. In the long run you’ll be more productive.
T h i s. I have NEVER understood this post. If you compared my artwork to someone else’s, I’d be damn flattered, bc you know what? Chances are I look up to that artist, and the fact that my inspiration is shining through means I’m doing something right.
Humans have a way of working where we operate by pattern. Every single thing humans do, not just in creativity, is operated by pattern. Even the way our brains all work. There may be differences, but they all work pretty much the same (brain patterns), and to compare how two different brains work leads to advancements in science and knowledge.
Every single piece of media is based on a pattern or a format, and that’s how it’s more recognizable and easy to consume. There’s so much media out there that it’s impossible to create something that’s completely uninspired by something else, whether that be one or multiple sources of media you’ve viewed previously.
This concept that unoriginality is an inherently bad and offensive thing to point out is harmful to creators, because, whether it was OP’s intention or not (and I doubt it was), it pushes the notion that getting inspiration from other people’s work is a bad thing and all work must be completely original and uninspired, and to do otherwise is wrong, and to have someone compare your work to someone else’s is also wrong. This can completely hinder or halt someone’s creativity.
Also, please, don’t beat yourself up if your work was compared to someone else’s, because if you’re having that much self-doubt, you really need to take a step back and figure out why that is. There’s an underlying issue there that needs to be looked at.
Unoriginality is not a bad thing. Don’t treat it as such. That artist’s work yours was compared to? Their work isn’t original either. No piece of work can be 100% pure and original, because it’s all inspired by something we’ve seen before. All those famous classic artists? They took techniques from other artists and created their masterpieces that way. Their originality is based off of something unoriginal and it worked out very well in their favor. An art teacher of mine told me once that the way these artists got famous was by essentially “copying” other artists, in a sense they used the same styles (not like, y'know, plagiarism, cuz that’s bad don’t do that). If they could get away with it, then why is it a bad thing if today’s artists get away with it? It doesn’t make any sense to me.
Ah man, flash from the past!
My favorite art teacher in college would always repeat this mantra:
Copy
Emulate
Create
First copy the masters. Like literally copy. It’s the best way to learn how the masters manipulated colors, values, composition, etc.
Then, emulate other artists. Like those “do this in your style” challenges! Take something you’ve learned from copying the masters, or take the style/composition/color-palette (or whatever!) from an artist you admire, and make something based on it.
Finally, and ONLY after the first two steps: CREATE something, taking into account everything you’ve learned from copying and emulating the masters. (Like the above posters have said: it will not, can not, be totally original. This is a practice of appreciating that fact)
The same teacher who taught me the above was also fond of saying:
“What’s the difference between a novice artist and a professional artist? The novice copies. The professional STEALS.” Meaning: the professional still emulates others works, but they may it their own 😆
