Old West Jayvik - Viktor's the disabled son of a farmer out in rural america (likely Texas at the time), does what he can to help around the farm but is (unfortunately) limited by his health conditions. He has a bright mind, but his parents can't afford to send him anywhere reputable to learn with it past what's needed for farm-work without compromising the rest of the farm.

It means that while he's bright and would be academically capable, given the circumstances, he's stuck with what he's got.

Jayce would likely be the son of a late gunsmith (don't quite know enough about the Old West to really say if his father would be a smith like in Arcane's canon). His dad died early on, and Ximena, trying to keep the two of them afloat without income (and being disabled) ends up plunging them both into debt.

Trying to work off the mountain of money they both owe, Jayce takes to being a farm-hand. Luckily enough, Viktor's father is looking to hire more hands around the farm, and Jayce is nothing if not built to fix things.

Both would probably be in their later teens (17-19). It'd be a horrid slow-burn because farmers aren't exactly known for being friendly and open about their feelings and Jayce is denser than steel post.
