yeah okay like six months post dmc1 in the middle of the devil never cry era dante taking in his dead murdered (he murdered him) brothers son is probably the funniest scenerio. nero 9/10 years old.

when his arm began mutating, nero, convinced that he was cursed, snuck onto the ferry off the island and ran away. credo and kyrie were both quite distressed, but in his heart of hearts (and to his deepest darkest shame) credo was also relieved— he didn’t particularly want to take on the responsibility of caring for the child his parents had been fostering on top of suddenly raising his own sister.

the longer dante doesn't specify how he's connected too (related too) nero (who he picked up on a job) the funnier it is. in the middle of devil never cry era even. he's living with his mom's clone and leaving nero alone to determine what the fuck dante and trish's relationship to each other is too

dantes early relationship to trish is really interesting to consider. she's just not got much experience with anything... leaned on him quite a bit before getting her bearings and i think dante really needed to be needed at that time too

“being raised by dante au” nero YEARNS to be a big brother and patty loves being fussed over after the initial speed bumps they’d get along great. dante definitely feels a certain way seeing vergil junior over there do the big brother thing though.

okay so my opinion in all this in summation is that dante is insane sexually traumatized and loathes nothing more then introspection, no matter what’s going on with him he has accepted that he’s “single” and that’s that on that. vergil’s inability to self reflect hit its peak last month when he ate several hundred thousand people and he has since been forced to self reflect on literal pain of death. he isn’t really socialized enough in Society(tm) to have any particular issue with it tho honestly he just casually tells nero he’s “possibly bisexual” after nero finally decides to at least attempt to explain his polyamorous throuple to him. nero: w— HUH?
