america is such a final destination ass hellscape. i got a news alert saying “cause of death revealed for woman who fell into open manhole in New York City”. and obviously, i assumed the cause of death was “fell into large hole in the ground” but no. actually her death was so much worse than that. apparently, the hole in the ground was full of steaming hot pipes, and the steam straight up cooked this woman alive until her heart finally gave out. the poor lady was awake and fully conscious while being steamed alive like a lobster. my god

seeing people talk about the new movie Obsession and how incredible it is, and all the respect in the world for the cast and crew for their hard work but I simply cannot watch it. i saw the trailer and the moment i realized what the premise of the movie was, i was filled with such an intense, bone deep feeling of dread and anxiety that i actually had to leave the room.

for those of you who are unaware, the premise of Obsession (2026) is that this Nice Guy is trying to do the classic young adult cishet male with a female friend thing and Kill The Fucking Vibes by confessing his romantic feelings. (ladies, we’ve all been there. sometimes a dude just confesses he has a crush on you and now the whole friendship is weird and awkward). obviously, it doesn’t go well, and this Nice Guy decides that he’s going to wish for the object of his affections to love him and only him more than anything and everything else in the world. and his wish is granted.

unironically i think that found footage is a tragically underutilized style of filmmaking. like yeah they used it for horror back in the early 2000s and 2010s, but there’s got to be more that filmmakers can do with it now, right? literally everyone’s got a camera on them nowadays, and filmmakers just… aren’t doing anything with that? it’s literally easier than ever to justify a “found footage” narrative. and it doesn’t even necessarily need to be horror! it could be a drama! A comedy! A disaster movie! A coming of age story! A romance! Action! Sci fi! Fantasy! you could do almost anything with it, and nobody could question how realistic it is for someone to be filming because we’re all constantly under surveillance and surveilling each other in a way that we really weren’t during the heyday of found footage films
