I just remember that it went something like - Stiles went missing, Derek wasn’t in BH anymore, Scott called Derek (who was with Cora) to let him know and they came back to BH immediately to help look for Stiles… I barely started it so that’s all the details I have. Thank you!!

Derek jumped, having momentarily forgotten Scott was on the phone with him because Stiles had started moving. He’d stalked over to the other side of the cave, still eying Derek warily and growling, then settled protectively over a mass of clothes, leaves and animal innards. It was probably where he was sleeping.

Lovely. No wonder he smelled like death.

“Stiles,” Derek said, answering Scott’s question. Or, one of them, at least.

“Stiles? What do you—Stiles is making that noise?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“How fast do you think you can make it to the south lot of the Preserve?”

So we all argee that Derek listens to stiles heartbeat yes? Yes. Anyway headcannon.

At first Derek founds stiles annoying. Even in his resting state, stiles was loud. His very state of being demands attention. And Derek hates it. Until the day stiles has a panic attack in front of him. Derek is afraid, listening to stiles having a panic attack, hearing Stiles’ heart sound like a cacophony of screams. It’s wrong, it’s far too fast and far to loud. Hearing his lungs struggle to breathe. Derek has never hated a sound more in his life.

Derek can’t get the sound out of his head. It haunts him. Playing over and over like a reminder of morality. It sounds like death.

So he starts to pay extra attention to stiles and his heart beat, allowing it to wash over him. Listening to the rhythm — reminding himself that stiles is alive and okay. He can identify when stiles starts to panic and stop it before it becomes anything. He know stiles heart beat like it’s his own, so he notices when the rhythm changes. Even if it just skips a beat.

He doesn’t realize that he beginning to use it as an anchor, as stiles as an anchor, until the day they’ve been kidnapped and stiles heart starts to slow.

my all time fave type of sterek fic is when derek is unapologetically obsessed and possessive of stiles. and stiles eats that shit up. and they dgaf if it’s healthy or not cause they’re happy with it.

The absolute sheer brilliance that would have been stiles and Lydia being bitchy best friends is super underrated. It’s diabolical/mad scientist friendship that sends people running in fear.

Like instead of falling in love with Lydia because she says something super smart, stiles just squints his eyes and rebuffs her. Bam Frienemies until they commit a crime together and instant best friends/siblings.

Ignore the whole Lydia being a banshee thing, like Lydia getting bite in season one instead and turning into a werewolf and best friend stiles. The dynamic would be unmatched. Her and stiles would have had that shit packed up in under an episode and maybe a half if they stop for coffee.

The only thing I’m not sure of is if Derek would have remained alpha because Lydia could have easily killed Peter herself. (I’m going to go with yes Derek does, as hale puppy pack has a special place in my hearts)

Derek wouldn’t have had the chance to even remotely fail because 1. Lydia knows that stiles is in love with him and refuses to let her best friend date a loser. 2. That is her alpha and she refuses to have a loser as her alpha.

Overprotective Werewolf Lydia and jealous Derek also would have been the funniest dynamic. Werewolf lydia and magic stiles would have been so so good.

Derek was totally stressed out as he barged into his apartment, his partner right behind him. He slammed the door so hard it echoed the intense turmoil he was feeling. Swearing under his breath, he stormed into the kitchen, yanked open the fridge, and grabbed a carton of beer bottles. He slammed them down on the countertop, his actions fueled by the stress eating him up inside.

“This is total crap! How long are we supposed to be grounded for just doing our jobs?” Stiles shot back, frustration dripping from his voice as Derek tossed him a beer bottle. The irritation was palpable; they were just trying to get the job done, yet here they were—stuck in limbo for who knows how long. Stiles took a swig from the bottle, hoping it would help drown out the frustration swirling around them.

Who initiated the first time having sex, Stiles or Derek?

Oh, to me there's really only one answer if we're talking about canon and it's for sure Stiles. Derek would be SO overly concerned with not taking advantage of him and not wanting to push him into things and convincing himself that there's no universe where he could really be what Stiles wants that he's fully incapable of making the first move.

Flirting? Oh he's got that on lock, as we've seen. He's the sort of guy that flirts almost as a hobby. He just really likes doing it and he knows he's good at it and it makes him feel like he's in control of a social situation because he knows exactly what the other person wants and how to dangle it in front of them without actually ever promising a piece of himself. It's this mask that he can put on to be confident and to feel comfortable in his skin, which is not the truth at all.

Derek very much gives me introvert in an extrovert's body. Everyone thinks he's gonna be this super easy going and fun and boisterous guy because he looks like one, but in reality he wants to spend every evening at home reading or fixing cars or watching documentaries. He actually hates being around big groups of people, going to events, having to talk for long periods of time and be 'ON'.

I also feel like it's something that he probably evolved from his family life too. I could one hundred percent see him as the quiet and sullen kid in a family of really loud and over the top people. Always yelling and rough housing and with energy through the roof. All of them eager to jockey with each other and enjoying confrontation and just being a lot for a kid that's super introspective and sedate. Which he would get a little bullied over. So he always made the effort to push to be more like his sisters, his parents. He faked it at school to the point where no one really knew the real him.

So all that to say, when Stiles starts flirting with him, he finds it easy to volley back, until it starts getting more and more obvious that it's not a joke. It's not that weird game of gay chicken that so many men play with each other. Stiles keeps making it more than clear, keeps dropping so many obvious openings for Derek to actually close in on him. He's all but leaning forward with his eyes closed and his lips pursed.

And every time Derek panics and flees the scene. Not because he doesn't want to. If it didn't matter, if he didn't care, it would be easy to snort, roll his eyes, push Stiles away and call him stupid. But his face flushes and his heart starts racing and all he wants is for this to be real. For it not to be a ploy for once. But he can't take that step.

Stiles doesn't know the real him. Stiles doesn't know what he's asking for. He thinks he's interested in this playfully abrasive but hunky jock. He has no idea what it's like intertwining your life with a werewolf's in that way. He has no idea what Derek's like when he's not performing for the others.

Which is a lie. Derek shows him those things all the time, without even meaning to. Stiles is perceptive enough to see it, to understand, to not call attention to it and make him curl back up into his shell. Those are the bits of Derek he loves the most. So he doesn't even care that it makes him look stupid, desperate. He'll let the others in the pack call him a simp all they want, he knows what he sees. That tender, aching need in Derek's eyes begging him to reach out, but still too scared to close the gap.

They're probably like that for over a year. Until something where they have to travel as a pack and end up in a room together. The others head back to Beacon Hills before them, their flight is supposed to be later in the evening but they keep dragging out their packing. Stay in bed. Get coffees and pastries downstairs and just sit in chairs and watch the people go by.

"We're not gonna make it if we don't go now," and Stiles just shrugs.

"Let's not then." Derek can't reach out to hold his hand. Doesn't cross the room to kiss him. But he does call the airline, changes their tickets. Hangs up and just stares across the room at Stiles for long, long seconds.

Pleading. I can't do it. I need it. Please.

Then and only then does Stiles walk over and straddle him, push his hair away from his face, thumb softly at his chin. He leans down and kisses Derek and Derek can't help the way he flinches, but Stiles just stays put, waits for him to slowly drift back. And he does. Falling into his atmosphere.

Whining when they finally collapse together, slow but eager.
