it blows my mind how people can dislike tolkien because his writing is “stuffy.” in the hobbit, bilbo gets so intimidated and excited by thorin and his dwarves that he just starts fucking screaming. and gandalf just looks at this three-foot tall screaming hobbit idiot and goes “haha yeah he’s just a little excited.” in lord of the rings, the fellowship gets snowed in and legolas tries to be helpful, so he tells gandalf “hey, you’re a wizard, why don’t you conjure up a flame or something and melt the snow so we maybe don’t die??? cause you know that’s literally your job” and gandalf goes “WELL YOU KNOW WHAT LEGOLAS, WHY DON’T YOU GROW A PAIR OF WINGS AND HARNESS THE SUN AND MELT THE SNOW??? HUH??? HUH???” like tolkien is actually hilarious but go off
