Each moment would bring a new and exquisite agony, as fierce and startling as the last, and the pain would never let him die, or grow numb, or escape into catatonic oblivion. He understood all this, and still he clung to the knowledge that he was Ben Skywalker, son of Luke and Mara Jade Skywalker, cousin and onetime apprentice to Colonel Jacen Solo, who is the murderer of my mother.

The young Jedi Knight is covered in blood. Lightsabers cauterize when they slice so being covered in blood is not normal. But here he is, hunched over his mother's form. Blue eyes, the SKYWALKER BLUE eyes, observe the figure a few feet away, hands clenched into fists as he takes in the figure a few feet away. He takes in a few deep breaths, slowly standing to his feet, lightsaber sliding into his hand from its holster on his arm.

Jedi don't kill. But Ben never proclaimed to be a good Jedi. He had strayed from the Jedi path before, his time in the Galactic Alliance Guard had demonstrated that. Although his father hadn't agreed, his mother HAD. He had always been closer with his mother.

Orange lightsaber ignites. "I'll kill you."

hi but reminder that Ben can always always always feel his dad instantly in the Force. not only bc he’s LUKE SKYWALKER, who Ben describes as a bright light in the Force, but also bc he’s his DAD and he knows him

    “ I thought we had talked about this already. ” Despite hearing the telltale sound of Ben activating his lightsaber, he had turned his back towards him, almost DARING him to strike, to make the mistake of believing him to be careless or distracted but Ben was too clever to fall for something like that and Caedus knew it. There was something he enjoyed about forcing Ben to admit that even with his back turned — his cousin was still as dangerous and capable as ever. Perhaps a sick sense of superiority mixed with PRIDE over the boy’s bravery of facing him without his father by his side to protect him. A foolish decision but Caedus could respect the courage put into such a gamble.

   He sighed, finally turning around to look at his cousin with a chastising look. “ Why do you insist on sticking to these delusions? Do you think it will make her death EASIER to live with if you strike me down in revenge? ” He resisted the urge to reach for his lightsaber, newly put together after his uncle had taken his old blade from him during their last confrontation. “ I hate to disappoint you, Ben, but my death would not bring you the peace you seek. I had nothing to do with Mara’s death. ” His continued denial was more an excuse to further stoke the rage burning inside his cousin rather than to actually try convince him of his innocence. He knew he would never be able to convince Ben he wasn’t guilty of this particular crime but he wouldn’t need to anyway if his plan worked out. “ And now I’ll repeat myself: I do NOT have time for this argument right now. ”

he had thought this was over. that ben wouldn’t seek him out perhaps. this was stupid. and ben knew that he more than likely wouldn’t survive a confrontation with his cousin. he was weak and really, ben skywalker was not a match for darth caedus. not at this moment, perhaps not at all. Jaina was meant to destroy Darth Caedus, after all. perhaps a part of him knew that, knew that he wasn’t the one supposed to kill the other. 

but it wouldn’t stop him from getting the answers he wanted. now that he was clear of the torture, clear of the mental haze that his cousin had put him in...it was easy to pick out lies. even if jacen liked to think he was an expert of lying, he had taught ben MANY things and how to spot an expert lie was one of them. 

“because i’m not stupid.” he spits in his direction, the yellow of his lightsaber illuminating the green in his eyes. the same green that had belonged to his mother. the thought of the woman makes his heart hurt and perhaps clouds his mind just a bit.

“you dont have time. of course you don’t. you’re a coward.” he hisses. “I’ll make sure everyone knows what you’ve done. I’ll prove it.” he doesn’t know how. but he knows he will prove that Jacen killed Mara. there was no one ELSE. he knew his father suspected lumiya. and YES, it was possible. 

but ben....knew deep within himself that it was Jacen. “you failed. to turn me to the Dark Side.”

"You're my what now?" An eyebrow raises as he looks down at the teenager, arms cross over his chest. Anakin looks tired, worn down by the years he has fought in battle after battle. His fight still isn't done. The Emperor was still in charge and the Empire was still at its peak. He wasn't going to stop until he fulfilled the prophecy and he finally balanced the force. A sigh escapes his lips. He does look like Luke. Luke, who is in the early years of adulthood. He's barely a man himself. His son is off somewhere on base training, trying to better himself so when he faced Palpatine again, he wouldn't lose. Of course, he was not going to let him do that alone cause technically killing Palpatine was Anakin's destiny, not his.

"I believe you, but, you need to slow down. I can't focus with you going a mile a minute, kid."

“i’m your grandson.” the boy, although young he might seem, was aged well beyond his years. the future had not been kind to him. having grown up in the midst of the yuuzhan vong war, he’d cut himself off from the Force and only through his cousin (who later turned sith) had worked his way back into being a Jedi. although he was freshly recovered from the TORTURE Jacen had inflicted upon him, he’d now been thrust into this, thrown back into the past just as things were seeming to go back to normal. he had to get back. the luke skywalker of this day was not his father and he knew that. but this WAS his grandfather, if not a different version of him. alternate reality, perhaps?

“I’m sorry. I was just...so excited to meet you.” the Jedi Knight straightens himself, listening to the lessons his father had taught him. “and I need your help.”

“The Dark Side can foster evil- but sometimes people can be worse. Those who created the Death Star were not of Sith… they were simply people. Bad people exist no matter if one is force-sensitive or not,” Breha commented, her eyes dewy with emotion. But even in death, she was monarch-like, her eyes fluttering to wipe away the tears. “Remember this, Ben.”

“i understand.” he mutters. the Dark Side had a way of affecting those that weren’t in tune with the Force. there were many people that he’d met over the past few years, when he’d been on the run from his cousin, that were simply EVIL. “I understand, grandmother.” he wishes she could wrap him in a hug.

“It’d be a whole lot easier and safer if you just told the General where Luke was,” BB commented, rubbing the back of her neck. She had been briefed on this grand mission she was going to go on with Poe - one to find the whereabouts of Luke Skywalker. Despite loving any mission alongside her best friend, it was dangerous. She quirked her lips into a small smile. “Why won’t you tell anyone where he is, Ben?”

it wasn’t that he was trying to get anyone killed. the last thing he needed, or wanted, was anyone else to die due to the Skywalkers. How many people in the galaxy had perished because of one of his family? “I made a promise. to my father that I wouldn’t tell anyone where he was. and I won’t. I’m sorry. My mind has been made up. the more that know, the more danger he is in.” it was bad enough that ben had to always be on the move.

Ben is 14-16 regardless of what verse he is in. he’s just a KID !

“You look just like your father,” Beru commented, smiling fondly. “Except for the brown-red hair.” She chuckled, pointing at her own head as if to remind him of his own hair. “The sun on Tatooine would bleach that easily,”

HIS cheeks flush. it wasn’t the first time that he hated the fair freckled skin that he inherited from his mother. the skin that BURNED under the sun. “the sun on Tatooine would also burn me to a tomato.” he replies, a small smile peeking out.

“Punch it!” @fliestars​ says in agitation. in response, the young skywalker clenches his jaw just a little bit tighter. “i’m doing my BEST.” the boy pulls back on the controls, slamming his hand into several of the buttons. clutching at the wheel, he jerks the ship to the side, pulling them out of the way of an incoming blast. 

he supposed he had an advantage. the Force guided him, allowing him to SENSE what moves were going to be made. perhaps that was why he’d gotten so far. a slow exhale escapes from his lips as he shoots a blast at the fighter aiming for Briggs’ ship 

“we’re getting overwhelmed!”
