Rocket Project Proposal Template
Follow this guide to the letter. This is a key part of your grade.
Set your word processing program for 1” margins top and bottom and 1” margins side to side (this is usually standard in Word).
Choose either Times Roman, Arial, or Courier type face in 12 pt.

Arial: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 123456789 10
Courier: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz 123456789 10
Once you choose a type face, you must stick with it through the entire project.
In the upper left corner type the name and period of each person in your group. Last name first, first name and period (X). Like this:
Skip four lines (use single spacing unless instructed otherwise) and center your project name. Use all caps. Underline but do not bold. Skip two lines and begin.
Flush left and in caps write: GOAL:
Skip one line, indent one tab and state the goal or goals you and your group intend to achieve. You may use bullets, but are not required. If you have multiple goals, do not skip lines between them. Include here, the role each person is going to play. Skip one line and then list, for example,
Transportation Coordinator: Tommy Jones
Treasurer and Accountant: Suzzie Smith
Project Manager/Team leader: Areveg Garmazian
Skip three lines and write in all caps, BUDGET: Drop down to the next line (HOWEVER, NEVER PUT A HEADER AT THE BOTTOM OF A PAGE, AND THEN LEAVE THE REST ON THE NEXT PAGE. IF THAT HAPPENS, PLACE THE HEADER AT THE TOP OF THE NEXT PAGE!!!).
Indent one tab. Now list the budget, line by line in an Excel table. Include food, gas, glue, model, engines, tools, paint, paper, copying expenses, etc…. I want you to list any thing you are going to consume while working on this project. Be specific and estimate as carefully as you can.
Skip three lines and write in all caps, MAN HOURS: Drop down to the next line. Now list the Man Hours, line by line in an Excel table. To the best of your ability, estimate how much time you will spend planning, shopping, building, driving, writing etc. Total up the effort of each person in your group. If you have three people painting for ten minutes you have .5 man hours.
Two people driving for one hour is two man hours.
Skip three lines and type, PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS:
Drop down to the next line and one by one, numbering each individual problem, list the problems you expect to encounter and the methods you intend to use to overcome them.
Optional. Skip three lines and enter Drawings and Diagrams:
At this point, you may wish to include a drawing of what you intend to do.
At the bottom of the last page, flush left, write Cc: and the initials (upper case) of each person who will receive a copy of this. This includes me. Drop down one line and flush left write in lower case, the initials of the person who typed this proposal.
Staple the pages in the upper left and turn in.
Pages are numbered on the bottom of the page beginning on the second page in the middle as a footer. Put the numbers in parenthesis (2), (3) and so on.
