I have reason to believe the sword on Kuyo's hip is Rei's. Let me explain

first i need you to understand the concept of daisho. the traditional samurai practice of carrying two blades at once: a long one (katana) and a short one (wakizashi)

wakizashi ⬆️ (note: the wakizashi can have grips like katanas, but uru draws them like this.)

John and kuyo both do this in their solo arts

In the duo art, John doesn't have a second blade, and while Kuyo does, we can see its a katana based on the grip style and, most damningly, its length

Now lets draw our attention to the color of the grips. John's is black, of course. Kuyo's is a dark blue. And our mysterious third katana is a beautiful seafoam.

When color picked, falls in this range

Now who does kuyo know with a color palette in this range. With such a profound impact on him that he carries around their katana after theyre gone 🤔🤔🤔

Random note: the average weight of a katana falls somewhere between 2 and 3 lbs (1-1.5 kilos) which, like, isnt a lot but will become burdensome to carry around. How many 2.5 pound accessories do you wear?

This color choice is clearly intentional. It would’ve been easier to make them all the same color, or omit the third katana entirely.

I considered Kuyo having 2 katanas because hes awesome as fuck, but then how do we explain the solo arts including wakizashi? The color choices? The breaking of tradition? (And frankly "the curtains are just blue" is really boring)
