Entering my leaky space blob era (aka enduring my first cold of winter)
Remember when U2 forced their album onto everyone's iTunes for free and it was impossible to get rid of and kept downloading and playing and it drove everyone nuts because they didn't ask for it but they were being forced to listen to it?
That's what AI is starting to feel like. No Google I don't want Gemini turned on, no I don't want to choose a voice for a tool I'm not going to use, stop trying to force this feature on me!!!! I'm over it!! The more you try to force it on me the less I want to use it!!!
Literally, we have movies and tv episodes and books and so much other media about how AI is bad for the human race and it's probably going to be the end of the human race. Look, I don't think AI is going to rise up and kill the human race like it does in movies. But it will bring about the end of humanity as we know it if we let it. It will take over thinking for us. We will end up relying on it to answer questions or come up with ideas. We need to stop it from taking over our minds, our skills and our creativity.
Okay! Rant over. I'm just so over big tech companies trying to force me to use their AI tools.
My version of girl dinner is butter bread covered in cinnamon sugar
I love that different components of the US Space Program are spread out across the country. The JPL is in Pasadena. You have the Kennedy Space centre in Florida. And the LBJ Space centre in Houston Texas. And the NASA headquarters are in D.C. NASA really making it inconvenient to get anything done efficiently.
I'm gonna need world leaders to stop picking fights with oil rich countries so I can afford to buy petrol
Just casually spending money I don't have on books I already own the ebooks for so I can have hard copies to mark and annotate properly
A totally normal thing to do...
My hottest take:
I'd like to live in a world where child stars do one amazing thing, retire early to grow up as normal as possible and then come back to their industry if/when they're ready.
The answer to "And what's this gap on your resume?" should be "I was developing my frontal lobe before making more life changing decisions about my career."
Being talented at something shouldn't mean being forced into that career before learning how to function as a human being.
But also instead of just one kid getting all the limelight we share it around a bit. You never know mow much talent is in the world until you go looking for it.
I worry that if I stay single and childless too much longer I might become that grumpy old man yelling at kids to get off the lawn.
I'm not far off it really. Like the neighbour kids are out the front of my flat bouncing a ball and I just want to go out there and tell them to not hit my car with that ball.
I remember when I was learning to drive, my parents engraved headchecks into my brain. To this day I still headcheck before changing lanes. Even as a passenger in a bus. Which I'm not driving...
There appears to be two main types of folk songs:
First is the sad tale set to an upbeat rhythm and tune so you think it's happy until you really listen to the lyrics
The other is a definitely sad tune but the lyrics are so obscured in poetry (or another language) that you're now unsure if the story is happy or sad
That said if anyone knows any amazing folk songs that will definitely confuse the heck out of me drop them in the comments below
Thanks!!
I love the universal constant of men gathering together to solve a problem. You see it most often around the open bonnet of a car all of them observing the engine. But occasionally you see it in an office setting, a gaggle of men crowded around a complex thermostat trying to change the temperature. Good on ya boys!!! I love the unspoken agreement to work together to achieve a shared goal!!!
Did you ever executive dysfunction your way into staying up late? Because like my bed is like 10 steps away but here I am rotting away on my couch instead of literally just getting up....
Hi IT team,
Requesting a universal update to all operating systems over 50 years old: "You don't need yell into your phone. The person on the other end can hear you. I promise"
Please advise when this update will be installed.
Kind regards,
Office workers who share their space with lots of loud people
This might just be my dumb neurodivergent brain but I think music might be necessary for social events. It just seems to make events more tolerable. Maybe it helps dull the roar of a hundred conversations happening at once or maybe people hear music and speak quieter. Whatever it is, music is lacking from this engagement party and I am struggling.
It is so wild eating actual grapes and then drinking a grape flavoured soft drink
Like these two things are supposed to taste the same so why don't they....
I'm gonna switch careers. From now on I'm a soft drink sommelier. Need a soft drink to pair with that vanilla raspberry pannacotta? Might I suggest a brown cream soda? Our house Schweppes is renowned for it's subtle carbonation, which will definitely not overpower the smoothness of the pannacotta.
Halfway through reading a mystery novel and I know who the killer is. Literally. Not guessing. Not bragging about solving the mystery. Just the author deciding to reveal it half way through. That's so ominous. Like I'm relieved that the case is solved but what is in the rest of the book!!!! Half of the book can't be epilogue. So something is gonna happen but I don't know what and that scares me a little bit.
