Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
"To be honest,Ā mon dame, my favorite activity so far has been relaxing under the sun,ā he replied, grinning and gesturing at what he was doing at the moment. āWhere have you been, then?ā
"That is a nice thing. I'll have to try it more often." She grinned and tucked a strand of hair behind her ears. "Oh, I had to go home for a little while, and then when I flew back I flew into Paris and just sort of ended up wandering around there for a few weeks. It was incredible!"
"ā¦"
Yes.Ā
I better run. Thomas is probably mad I didnāt tell him. Oops. Iāll see you around Jenny. Love ya.
Ok! Have a great day Peter.Ā
Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
"Youāre welcome,Ā mon fleur,ā he replied, bowing his head slightly. Then, the man smiled at her and tilted his head. āI tend to be everywhere,ā he replied. āSince I try to stay off the routine. That usually means more outside than inside, when at camp. How about you?ā
"That sounds wonderful. So you try a little of everything then? Do you have a favorite activity? Oh, me? Usually more inside, although I've been trying to get out a bit more recently. I tend to be either reading or playing piano and the piano at least isn't particularly movable. Although I can't really say about camp since I've been away from here for most of the camp's duration."
I'm lost.
Iām lost and itās going to rain. Lovely.
Are you all right? I couldn't hear what you said but you sounded upset.Ā
Thanks Jenny. Love you.
I love you too.Ā
āI have to admit, it was a wonderful experience. I may just do it again, given a good bookā
"What book was it that you were reading this time?"
Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
Lumiere kept shielding his eyes with an extended hand while he looked at Jenny, rather amused. āWhy, thank you, mon belle fille,Ā for what I assume is a compliment. Nothing youāve said has been wrong, at least as far as Iām concerned, even if you keep pretending it is. All these words have done is give your cheeks a beautifully lively color.ā
"I...oh well, thank you." She smiled briefly, trying to relax all the way. And probably stop apologizing so much since that was clearly one of the things making her sound like an idiot. "So, do you come out here a lot? Or are you usually more inside?"Ā
Ugh why do you have to be so difficult. Um um um. Silly string!
Ok, ok. Silly string and fancy candy it is. Happy late Birthday Peter.Ā
Hawaii is the most beautiful place in the earth! You need to visit. You can do everything there!Ā
I don“t know⦠Can I try everything at the same time?
I plan to some day. I just haven't really had a chance yet. But I promise I will!
Well, at the same time might be hard. But you have the whole summer to try everything, so that helps.
Ā«
Thank you⦠Yah. I can see it! It“s much colder than Hawai but I like it. And this is my first day! YEY!
That's good. I've never been to Hawaii, but I've heard about how beautiful and warm it is. But your first day is exciting! Is there anything you want to try?
Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
"You look queen-like to me," he replied. "More of the kind sort of queen than the ones that oppress their people, which is always a point in your favor," Lumiere concluded.Ā
"But yes, youāre right. I suppose it all depends on oneās attitude, no? Iāll try not to beĀ stuffy, as you put it,Ā mon belle dame!ā
"Oh, really? Well, thank you. That's very kind of you. You certainly look like you could be a prince or a king, whichever suited you best at the time." It was that charming smile and confident air. He clearly couldn't be anyone else.Ā
She put one hand to her mouth, feeling the fading blush come back out of embarrassment. "Oh I didn't mean-I'm sorry. I don't usually talk this much so I seem to keep saying all the wrong things. I'm sure it would be fine if you were stuffy, it could just be me that can't usually talk to them. Not that I talk to many people generally, school is sort of new for that."Ā
Yes, I“m from Hawai. And yes, Aloha means Hello and goodbey but I like more hello. It“s okay! My name“s Lilo.
It's nice to meet you Lilo. Welcome to camp. I've only been here for a little bit so I don't actually know it that well, but it seems really nice, although it's probably very different from Hawaii.Ā
Aloha? Are you from Hawaii? That means hello right? Sorry, I'm asking a lot of questions. My name is Jenny.Ā
Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
Lumiere assumed the girl had been made slightly uncomfortable by the approach, causing her to step away slightly, so he kept hi hands to himself from then on. Even so, he still looked at her with a smile on his lips.
"Jennifer sounds like the name a queen would have," he commented. "At least thatās what it feels like to me. It has a powerful ring to it,Ā nāest-ce pas?ā At the comment on considering meeting someone as a formal situation, the man chuckled, before gesturing towards his current (Or lack there-of) outfit. āNothingās formal if youāre dressed like this, Iām afraid. But no, I donāt believe that meeting someone would have to be formal. After all, it would become a bit tedious if it were always like that, wouldnāt it?ā
"Hm, no wonder the name never seemed to fit me. I'm not particularly queen-like." More, peasant like. But with fewer useful skills if she was entirely honest. Turning invisible and reading books weren't exactly winning qualities. But she found herself relaxing slightly at the calm smile.Ā
"You'd be surprised. I've been to a few pool parties that are almost more intimidating than the official balls that people would hold. Some people can pull off formal no matter what they are wearing, and you seem like the type who could do that if you put your mind to it. But you're right, it would get terribly tedious to be that stuffy all the time. You'd probably only ever meet other stuffy people and then you'd just get more bored."
Bathing in the Sun || Jenny and Lumiere
As the girl shook his hand, Lumiere was slightly pleased by the sight of a slight blush on her face. He raised her hand slowly and kissed the back of it in an old-fashioned manner, before releasing it.
"Both Jenny and Jennifer have wonderful rings to them, in as different a way Ā as two separate names would," he observed, before nodding. "Of course, if you prefer Jenny, thatās the only reason Iāll have to call you that."
Lumiere raised his arm and used his hand to shield his eyes from the sun as he gazed at the camp that surrounded them. āWell, itās a wonderful place. Iām sure youāll find it to your liking even if you havenāt been here long, from the looks of it. Iāve already spent a pair of weeks in my cabin here.ā
`Jenny felt her heart flutter slightly at the brush of his lips. He most likely didn't mean it, considering that they had just met and this was her they were talking about, but it was still lovely. It sort of made her feel like a princess - or the society girl that she was supposed to be like and had always failed at being.Ā
Still, for her own sanity she took a slight step backwards so that there was a little more space between them. "Oh certainly, Jennifer's a nice name, but I usually only hear it in formal situations and that doesn't really apply here. I mean, unless you consider meeting someone new to be something formal." She could tell she was babbling slightly, so she forced herself to take a deep breath.
"I'm sure I'll enjoy it, although it is nice to have a separate opinion on that. I've discovered that I like exploring new places and considering that I've met so many wonderful people at school before, it'd be hard to dislike. It's all the fun of seeing something new without the difficulty of dealing with new people who might dislike you."
