Teaching Their s/o Korean//Chan
Who knew learning a language could be so difficult? Here I am a grown adult struggling over pronunciation. If I had known it was gonna be this hard I would’ve just given up. Too bad I was stubborn and dang it I was too far in to back out now.
I don’t even know how long I had been going at it now, but the words began to jumble together. I felt like I had been staring at this word forever. Was it an ‘eo’ or an ‘o’ sound? The world may never know.
I whined laying my head on the table. I let my eyes flutter closed and enjoyed the silence for a bit. I must’ve looked calm and serene which could be equal to easy prey.
The hands on my shoulders caused me to jump completely startled in my chair. The familiar laughter and Aussie accent was what let me relax.
“You alright sweetheart? You seem tense.” Chan questioned kissing behind my ear as his hands gently massaged my shoulders.
I leaned back so I could look up at him. He looked at me with a soft smile, but I could see his exhaustion.
“I’m just struggling with some Korean….” I sighed rubbing my temples.
Chan hummed pressing his lips to my forehead before heading into the kitchen. I turned my head when I heard him placing various things on the table. “What are you doing love?”
Chan smiled chopping up various fruits. Strawberries, bananas, peaches, you name it. Once they were all chopped he brought all the fruit over in a large bowl. “Here’s the deal baby. We’re gonna play a game. For each one you get right I feed you a piece of fruit. If you get it wrong I get two pieces.”
“But why do I only get one?” I pouted.
Chan chuckled brushing his thumb over my lip. “Fine, fine for every one you get right I’ll feed you two.”
With the conditions set we got to work. I was determined and for each word I got right I was rewarded a piece of fruit or two. Each sentence that I got right Chan would reward me my two pieces of fruit and a peck to my lips.
I was nearing the end of my lesson and therefore the hardest part. I mouthed the words slowly until I was sure I had the pronunciation correct. I opened my mouth to repeat the phrase to an expectant Chan when the phrase was said allowed before I could even make a sound.
I turned to find Jisung smiling sheepishly as he slowly slid the bowl of fruit away from Chan. Before either of us could protest he handed me a strawberry and took off down the hall with the rest of our fruit. We both looked at each other in a what-the-heck-just-happened way.
“Yah! Han Jisung get back here with our fruits!” Chan shouted standing up.
“I don’t know what you are talking about!” Jisung replied.
Chan glared down the hall. He tilted my chin up and pecked my lips and ran down the hall screaming “I slaved over those fruits! Give them back!”
