OOC NOTE. wassup babes! here we are with our second update for this boy and wow oh my is it a big one. needless to say, the mgas will be referenced a lot here and has bettered him in a way. he’s sad to go but excited to see where his ambitions will take him. aaand to anyone who read this far, thank you and to those who read like... ALL of it extra kudos to you ♥
RELATIONSHIPS
the mga’s have left him with quite a few new faces in his life to name a few: jinhee, jonghyun, hyunjin, yerim, junmyeon. he enjoyed his time at the mgas and will continue to support everyone from afar. GO BABIES GO!
his family was originally excited for his participation in the mgas, but now that he’s been eliminated his parents have gone on a pity fest and he’s not happy about it. he’s like “i was eliminated, it’s cool. i’m fine.” and them just constantly consoling him over it is making it kind of hard for him to move on :( so he’s just kinda sticking to himself and hanging with hyunjoon whenever they’re home.
he and yerim have grown closer after their not-so-great first encounter. he might have also formed a tiny crush on the girl. maybe...
jaemin and jeno have moved on passed that awkward, tense position they were at and are relatively okay with each other at the moment.
he has removed himself from social media completely, deleting his instagram on thursday, july 26th.
HOBBIES
the mgas had a lot of influence on him, even more so since his elimination on july 22nd. his desire to expand his talents increased as he began to take interest in other areas besides dance and guitar.
after some thought, jeno has decided to begin vocal lessons. he will begin them under teacher seo ( npc ) on tuesday, july 31st.
his time spent on the show has also opened his eyes to the fact that he shouldn’t let his guitar skills fall behind so he begun practicing on his regularly.
he frequents the arcade less often and instead as taken up liking to a particular underground band, making himself a groupie of some sorts.
and in turn of sort of abandoning the arcade, he’s looking into online gaming as well as buying a PS4? is it a no go? should he?
his busking days have been halted as he wishes to expand his vocal abilities more before continuing.
DAY TO DAY
you can probably find him at more parties now, still not as bad as he was his first year of high school but he’s wanting to let loose some.
his job at cho bloom is seeming to go fairly well but since his time during the show took time away from some of his hours, he’s picking up whatever he’s offered right now.
he’s doing okay since his elimination - it hasn’t even been a week yet but!! he’s refusing to let it push him into a slump. he’s trying his best to get out and do things, to occupy his time with whatever so he’s not stuck at home with his parents.
jeno’s hair is blonde thanks to haechan and he is Living.
he entered the mgas without much thought, mostly due to jinsoul’s encouragement, but he is very happy to have made it as far as he did. his intentions were a bit hazy during the show but he’s confident now to say he wants to better himself. maybe being an idol isn’t for him, but he wants to make music and be proud of whatever he does.
when jeno gets home after the recording of the most recent mga episode hyunjoon can tell something is of but the older male doesn’t let anything out. Then Sunday rolls around and he finds himself watching the episode and hyunjoon can own frown when his brothers name is called to be eliminated. Later, after searching for his brother a bit the teen finally finds him and he’s wrapping his arms around jeno. hyunjoon isn’t the affectionate type, he loves his brother yes but he has never been one to show that with hugs or anything. Just right now he felt like it was needed.
it was difficult to keep it hidden, to not spoil everyone before it was time. the first night he cried, shed a few tears deep in the depths of his blankets as he took in what had happened only a few hours prior. he still wore the stage makeup, still worse the clothes he had felt so good in when he had first slipped it on. but everything was a mess - his hair, his tear stained face, his emotions. but he knew with time he would get over it, the boy always did. and so he let himself cry as quietly as he could.
when sunday rolled around, jeno wasn’t ready for the pity that would more than likely follow the show. it was embarrassing. the boy watched the episode alone with his phone somewhere far away from him in the room, ignoring the few texts that had rolled in when his name was announced. his heart clenches but he doesn’t cry. he hears hyunjoon’s footsteps but he doesn’t cry. he feels his younger brother’s arms wrap around him and he lets a sniffle pass his lips.
hyunjoon who doesn’t really show affection, hyunjoon who experienced the exact same thing only a few weeks prior.

the slight color to her cheeks, the attractive curve of her lips - somehow he had found himself riveted by the pretty face with the sharp tongue. how had it come to this? their first meeting was one jeno would like to erase, the harshness on both of their ends so unlike the pair who currently lounged in harmony beneath the shade of trees in the park. the boy began to entertain the thought that they both were just having a bad day, ignoring any negative thoughts he previously held of the girl.
she seemed nice enough but jeno had proven a fool to beauty. “enjoying your free time?” he asked the girl, cocking his head as he shot her a grin. the two had previously been contestants on the mgas, but due to different unfortunate circumstances - here they were. “still can’t believe you left willingly. they practically had to rip me from the stage.” okay, that was a complete exaggeration but whatever.

( ✄ ) ... she furrows her eyebrows and displays a frown on her face. “uh, hello? what’re you looking at?” she looks him up and down and nothing about him suggests to be that special or interesting, especially as far as looks. yerim wonders how average looking people think that they’ll be idols – or at least popular ones. then she wonders what his so called talents are, she hopes for his sake that they’re able to make up for everything else. “you’ve been staring in my direction for like three minutes straight. it’s kinda creepy.”
this whole process was absolutely exhausting, and in jeno’s mind rather agonizing. what was the point in making all of the contestants show every crevice and inch and nook of their skills, what was left of the imagination? what was left to discover? not to mention that most of those auditioning are just as tired as he is, they don’t have the energy to put the same amount of effort into their first performance. they were tired and they certainly needed more than this tiny break. jeno sighed as he pushed all of those negative, useless thoughts away - leaning his head back against the way from where he was sat slouching against the ground. he always got irritable and whiny when he was sleepy, no wonder he was such a difficult child.
caught up in his previously thoughts, the boy hadn’t even noticed his gaze had fell upon a girl not too far away from where he sat. he really didn’t mean to stare and he wouldn’t have minded to tell her that if she wasn’t being such a bitch. jeno rose a brow at her judging eyes, feeling a tad bit uncomfortable as she scales his body. freaking weirdo. “jeez, calm down. i was just thinking, all right? you familiar with the term?”
similar as she had done, the boy takes a moment to glance over her form. he raises a brow and decides that yes, it’s best to egg her on. “by the looks of it, i’m gonna say no...”
for some reason, donghyuck has become a one woman hair salon in the matter of weeks. ever since jaemin dropped boxes of bleach and hair dye on his lap, he’s been given more opportunities to potentially burn scalps. though he’s not been able to cut anyone’s hair yet, which he’s sure everyone would gladly leave to professionals. he isn’t sure why, however, scowling at the mistrust of his friends and boyfriend.
today happens to be lee jeno’s turn and it’s mostly because he’s had some left over bleach from jaemin’s beautiful dye job ( he’s quite proud, boasting still ) and when jeno had expressed a want to be blonde – platinum blonde – donghyuck explained he had all the hair destroying bleach to make that possible. “okay, sit still,” donghyuck says crossly. “you keep moving your head and i swear, i’ll pinch you if you don’t stop.”
almost the entirety of team a had dyed their hair or at least changed it for their upcoming performance. and perhaps it was the part of jeno that constantly desired to fit in that conjured up the idea hey, let’s go platinum blonde. why not? it certainly was a bold statement, eye catching to say the least - especially since he was going from such a dark color to something so dramatically different. but he needed some change in his life and apparently some bleach and entrusting his scalp to his best friend was just the fix.
“i am being still, you’re just yanking my head.” the boy frowns, back growing stiff for how long he’s been seated in this position. jeno briefly wonders why he didn’t consider going to a professional for this because if this turns out badly, he still has to go up on stage tomorrow and look good. but then he remembers how much a hair salon visit costs his mother and suddenly he’s okay again. “how much longer? because this shit burns, is that supposed to happen?”

jeno doesn’t let the exhaustion weighting down his form slump his dancing - forcing his mind to concentrate, to focus because last week can’t happen again. he supposed it was an eyeopener of sorts, his time here in this competition having been too easy for him in a way. there were obviously those who struggled more than he, especially with dance, but that could have to do with the fact that they were applying themselves more so than he. and that wasn’t okay.
it was embarrassing all most. lucky enough to be this far in the mgas yet here he was, contemplating - was this really all he could do? his best? hyunjoon deserved to be here.
the boy wiped the sweat from his brow, eyes following hyunjin’s movements in the mirror. they had been nonstop at this choreography thing - desperate to give this song that extra wow! factor that it needed. it was rather difficult trying to incorporate two people’s ideas into a smooth choreography but they would make it work.
they had to.
the boy’s hair still reeked of chemicals but he couldn’t complain too much. haechan had done a pretty good job surprisingly jeno feared for his scalp; he was looking fresh and new for the episode four recording and he prayed it looked even better on camera. jinhee had helped him out when it came to styling for their performance, having had gotten caught up in practicing and his new hair color to even think properly about his outfit. the mom of the group of course had his back and made him look hot as fuck, no offense.
team a sat backstage awaiting their turn and unlike jeno’s last performance, they were first. he wasn’t too keen on that fact, but he supposed it was a good thing as the pre-performance nerves wouldn’t have time to full settle in, to build up in his chest as if it was to pop at any moment. normally, he’d be okay, just as relaxed as the past group performance. but he had something to prove to himself - that he deserved to be here, that he could show all of the talents he hadn’t previously been able to.
“starting soon, team a.” he held a hand to his chest, closing his eyes and taking deep breaths as they prepared to go up on stage.
“let’s go!”
“hit you with that pink punk! hello, we are team pink punk!” the audience is as always stunning, so many people with their eyes solely on them. it was intoxicating. unconsciously, the boy found himself smiling - waving at the members of the audience and feeling his heart clenching beautiful as he notices a few signs with his face on it. jeno has done a pretty decent job at going relatively unnoticed by netizens, a few comments about him here and there. but seeing their support in person, that was almost breathtaking.
he feels his cheeks ache from how hard he’s smiling, eyes crinkling into tiny crescents as raises a hand to slightly cover his upturned lips. this was certainly a great way to begin their stage.
PINK PUNK takes their starting positions, the stage lighting darkening slightly above them as the music starts. jeno’s smiles drops and his eyes get this gleam - creating an aura of confidence as the dance calls for. they left the choreography for the beginning of the song unbothered, the simple movements accompanied by some adlibs from their leader.
alongside the task of creating their own choreography, his rap part was a challenge for him. not because the rap itself was difficult but because there was so much movement during his part that it proved to be rather challenging to keep his breath.
“i don’t know if i can do this,” jeno was breathless, talking to himself in the mirror as he stared at his sweaty reflection. once they had completed their choreography and pieced everything together, the boy’s live talents were lacking compared to the others. he lost his breath quickly, his voice cracked and wavered with movement. it was disheartening, but he would manage. so he stayed a bit later after the other had left, practicing his part in the mirror - perfecting his expressions, practicing his breathing throughout his movements.
his verse was first, the audience’s first impression of their stage. if he couldn’t do good, they could all suffer and jeno didn’t want that on his conscious. they needed to do well and if that meant going the extra mile, losing sleep, putting it all into this as if it was his last - then that’s exactly what he’d do.
he isn’t a great live performer vocal wise, but his efforts seemed to have done him some good. there were parts where his voice was solid, where his breathing wasn’t obnoxious or taking away from his dancing. his husky voice sounded from the speakers, rough and seductive as his face contorts to match those of his voice.
PINK hamyeon PUNK urin yeppeujanghan savage
jeno’s eyes have a way of finding the camera, holding it’s gaze and flashing it slight, close lipped smile. his confidence soars throughout the performance, especially since he can focus fully on the dancing aspects now that his part has ended. he glides through the movements with practiced precision, finding himself looking forward to the dance break the most.
he has well as the other better dancer on the team gravitate towards their positions in the front, their formation created in order to conceal those who might be lacking or less comfortable in their abilities at such a part. eventually, they move into their ending positions - giving the camera time to capture their expressions and the audience to show their delight. applause is a sound he loves, one that he could most definitely get used it.
No - that wasn’t the way to think. There wasn’t time to dwell on the past, if Hyunjin wanted to do his best during this upcoming stage, he would have to look steadfastly into the future. Shaking his head, he rights himself from his position, addressing Jeno once again, “Let’s choreograph something flawless so we can leave the stage as a full team this time”.
it was heartbreaking to watch someone leave the stage - whether it was teammate or not. perhaps jeno was too soft hearted, after all it only meant his chances for success were only increasing. but yet his heart still ached - he couldn’t image how it felt to be the one leaving ( and he hoped he never would ). moonbok was hardworking, it wasn’t like he didn’t try. they all did as a team - which made his leaving that much harder. “neither do i,” jeno answered the other, chest heaving as he fought to catch his breath.
the two had been at it nonstop - starting their day earlier than jeno was used to but time was everything, if he had to sacrifice sleep for their success he would do it in a heartbeat. sweeping the damp hairs that had matted down to the moist skin of his forehead, the boy planted his free hand against the wall and pushed himself from his relaxed position slouching against the mirror. his legs ached in protest, feeling as if they were made of lead as all of his weight was once again centered to his feet.
“we will, don’t worry.” it was times like these that he valued his optimistic nature the most - otherwise he didn’t know what could keep him going. “i think what we’ve got so far is pretty good, anything’s better than what it originally was.” jeno joked lightly, hoping to bring even the tiniest smile upon hyunjin’s face.

it was almost too hard to continue, to go straight back into practice after watching his brother get eliminated from the show. the two were supposed to get through this together and to see hyunjoon leaving so soon... it was upsetting to say the least. but his words of encouragement left greed in jeno’s heart, the want to do better powering his every movement he made. perhaps it was a bit overdramatic, but hyunjoon was his inspiration for however far jeno managed to make it.
preparations went by fairly quick and in his opinion, rather smoothly. their team was a bit of a odd ball compared to the rest - their styles and looks so different it was hard to imagine them all paired together. but their teamwork proved to be fairly decent. team d chose kyungri as their leader quite easily and where jeno was more of a follower than a leader, his week proved to be pretty chill for him. not to mention they were training at NOVA and while it was not his first choice in company, it was certainly one of his favorites.
before the dawn was a dance centric song, something that jeno found relief in during practice. he picked up the choreography with time - not too fast but he made sure it wasn’t to the point where he was holding the others back. jeno was a dancer, he shouldn’t have trouble with keeping up - the boy had been complimented countless times on his impeccable ability to pick up choreography quickly. but before the dawn was a challenging dance, even more so when performed live.
it was enchanting how flawlessly myname performed the song; jeno had never really paid that close attention to how challenging the song was and they made it look effortless. they were sporting that classic dark 2011 look and although jeno almost wanted to laugh at the hairstyles and outfits, it was almost impossible not to admire how good they looked performing.
now all they had to do was do exactly the same.
jeno tapped his foot impatiently against the floor, eyes never leaving the television screen before them. he watches team c move across the stage - their rather alluring performance beckoning for some whistles and cheering from the waiting room, jeno hollering occasionally for their sexy performance. the boy was nervous but oh did he love watching the performances from the other teams.
it was easy to lose track of time; his attention constantly being held by the television showcasing the stages before theirs. but as time approached, jeno found himself becoming anxious, ready to get up onstage before his nerves got to him.
he was lucky they weren’t too far down the list - being the fourth to perform allowed some relaxation time to enjoy the other teams as well as not having the pressure of being first. when their time came, jeno’s anxious tapping from his leg slowly died down into the fidgeting of his fingers - playing with the hem of his black shirt before trailing down to his belt loops. “we got this!” slinging his arm over his nearest team member’s shoulder, he passed them a smile and gave their shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
he prayed they would do well.
the group led themselves to the stage - mics in hand as they moved to stand in a line, taking turns giving short introductions to the audience. “wassup everyone, i’m team dream’s eye smile, lee jeno!” the boy pauses for a moment, smiling wide - allowing the audience to take in his words before continuing. “i hope you enjoy our performance today!” pulling the mic away from his lips, he relaxes and waits for the others to finish their intros - rocking back on his heels and allowing his eyes to take in the audience eagerly watching their every mood.
it wasn’t long before they were preparing to begin their stage, everyone moving into their beginning positions as the music started up. choreography started right off the bat, his team members moving about the stage just as they had practiced countless times before. admittedly, picking up the choreography aspects for some was more difficult than others. jeno himself proved to be having some trouble at first but that only made him that much more willing to help anyone who was struggling. after all, before the dawn was no easy task.
their performance was no doubt far from perfect - it was the first time most of them had ever performed live while having to sing or rap at the same time. jeno struggled with his breathing the most during the middle, but the fact that most of his lines were sung with everyone else was reassuring - hopefully masking his shortcomings as to not mess up the song. he slowed down his movements as both the scorpion and his rap solo approached, wanting to make sure each were impactful and powerful as they were what he focused most on. if you fucked up the scorpion move, the whole performance loses its effect - at least that was jeno’s mindset.
the boy was breathless as their stage came to a close, the music dying out and cheers erupting from the audience. jeno’s face lit up, heart warming and ears perking at such a sound.
