Ryan’s full photoshoot for Folie magazine April 2025 ✨✨
3x08 // 5x01 // 8x10
help i've been staring at this screenshot for 30 minutes
8x09 fulfilled both Buck and Eddie's love thesis statements imo.
'when you're at your worst and they're at their worst and you have every reason to give up and you still try' - Buck had every reason not to do this. He has already experienced being a ghost in someone's house. Eddie won't come back to his knowledge. They were already on the verge of drifting. And he chose to try. It was the most painful choice he could make for himself emotionally but it was the easiest he did. because it's the love that persists.
and for Eddie? THIS is magic. Magic is when the impossible comes true. objectively Eddie cannot do anything for Buck here - he can't have his back here anymore, he can't promise to come back, he can't apologize for leaving, he knows this is his own choice, he also has guilt that he lied to Buck (8x06 confession). fully and completely in a situation where Eddie is prepared for nothing and can only offer a sad anger because that's his last line of defense. in return, he is loved. THAT is magic. this is why Eddie cries. because he finally gets to see that magic he was looking for and he knows he has to leave. worst part is that Eddie can't even tell Buck not to do this because he knows this is the way. he knows this is the way to Chris. he can't ignore what is given to him because well, it's the love he wants. he has it. it's his. and he has to leave.
so they've both reached the statements they believed is love. and the sky is gonna cry on them soon.
literally buck always does grand gestures to try and get people to stay while in this episode he did a grand gesture to allow eddie to leave him. its fine im fine
Well..... x x

They say the cold goes away if you infect other people. Then infect me.
i said this on discord but i want to put it out into the world on tumblr too: imagine eddie and buck, post 8x05. buck is complaining about the boils and how tommy won't even kiss him until they go away. eddie (miserable, still being a bit of a dick) is like, well, no offense but i wouldn't want to kiss you right now either.
that doesn't count, buck says impatiently, because you don't want to kiss me the rest of the time anyway.
and eddie is all of a sudden just sitting there at buck's kitchen table feeling like he got whacked by a two-by-four, because that -
that actually isn't true.
Without you, time seems to drag on. Without you, comic books aren't fun. Without you, the playground is quiet, too. Without you, every day feels bland. It's like eating unseasoned soup or dumplings without soy sauce. Without you, it's like not drinking banana milk after going to the bathhouse. So I was wondering... do you wanna go drink banana milk with me?
LOVE NEXT DOOR (2024)
I really like that in the end, seok ryu realizing her feelings and her subsequent confession wasn't "dramatic" or anything, and instead just this moment of clarity that being with seung hyo makes everything better and interesting, and that what she likes is spending time with him, no matter what they do. at least that's how I understand her speech. I just love how simple it is, especially after all the turmoil of the past episodes. maybe some people wanted something more grand, but I really liked the scene and how it came about
Honestly have no idea why people are so mad with CSH. Do I like the shouting? Of course not, but that’s how the two of them talk to each other. We see it when he injured his leg and she shouts at him. I’m glad she called him out on it though. And I’m also glad he shared with her why he was so angry.
People getting upset with him cos he didn’t answer/reply her texts really don’t know what it’s like to get over a crush/love huh. It was obviously not mean spirited. He needed to draw his lines and not answer/call/message her, whatever it takes to get over his feelings. It was bad timing for him to choose to do that then, but seeing her with another guy was probably the last straw for him and so he did what he had to for himself. I do not think that that is being a bad friend or that he was unhappy for her or anything…he just needed time to settle his feelings (cos it’s not her problem, it’s his. So he needs to manage it first, no?)
We, the audience, saw what was happening at that same time with SR. That’s why we feel bad for her and we’re all like, he should have been there! And yes, of course I’d have loved if he was there. But that’s how life works sometimes - bad timing.
just 1 hr and 30 minutes of pure crying !
Love next door is not a poorly written show. Lemme scream it , the writer had flaws in some scenes true. But the characters are not shallow please. It is actually a very well written show.
If you are siding with either Seukryu or Seunghyo after every scene it means that as a viewer you need more grasping skills.. cause clearly ep 9 and 10 were more than just pointing out who is right and who is wrong. Was she wrong? Maybe to some part and maybe not , was he wrong? Maybe to some part and maybe not . Was the ex wrong? Maybe to some part and maybe not .
We need to understand the dynamics of the characters , the reason the writer took 8 episodes to build that narrative right? Her illness is not a misfit plot- because that drives her reason of returning to Korea. She was rude yesterday, yes, but that's her idea of caring for her closed ones. Seunghyo was the first person whom she wanted to express, but he did ghost her at that time, but can you blame him? No . He should have been there as a friend but he saw her moving ahead in her life , he thought tangling to her is not the right thing to do- the timing was off, but that doesn't make him a wrong person. Similarly Seokryu expecting him to be there is not selfish.
Their reactions were animated, exaggerated, immature, ignorant and expressive. It's because he wanted to be part of her bad times . He had his own family trauma, but she was always his comfort, he wanted her to lean on him. He was shaken that she didn't trust him enough for that, she did have her reasons but he has his reasons too. As a viewer can't we see them completely as characters , characters who have been part of each other's life forever, their expectations and reactions might not follow regular lines and behaviours.
This drama deserves to be perceived well. It has a lot of depth- and gave the characters a lot of space to make mistakes, be confused, be miserable and still hold on to what they want. We are finally back to the happy side and thats what why the darkness was needed.
I need to have a conversation with danho I think it would be therapeutic
