“Well I appreciate you being so willing to work with me on this. For being so understanding.” Being sure to lace their fingers together as he looked down at their conjoined hands, a small smile spread across his face. “Oh come on, I’m not that bad! Now that we aren’t walking up a hill, it won’t be so bad.”

“If I don’t understand you and the things you’re going through, I risk losing you.. and I’m not okay with that.” He spoke as he looked down at at their hands, holding onto it tightly as he walked, making sure to keep the raven haired male close to him. “We’re going to be going up hill soon so I wouldn’t get to comfortable right now.”

ryan-s-hill:

“Now why on earth would I ever do that? I told you I’d actually be proving it, and denying you that would be the exact opposite of what I said I’d do.” Giving his hand a soft squeeze as he silently convinced himself to push himself up into a sitting position. “We should really start walking. This place is huge, and I’d really like to see all of it before it gets to dark out here.”

“I’m just letting you know that I would be okay with it, Ry. I don’t want to be that kind of person that makes you feel like you have to do something. I mean, I’ve waited all this time for you.” He spoke as he watched him sit up. He let a small groan pass his lips before standing up and brushing any dirt off his legs as he turned to look at Ryan. “Well lets go, there’s a lot more to see and a lot more complaining for you to do.” He laughed as he took his hand and started to walk down the path again.

ryan-s-hill:

“Oh I wouldn’t regret it, I just don’t want that to be how we start out. It really is nice kissing you though.” He was right, this wasn’t how things were supposed to happen, but he was glad it did. “I have a bit of a reputation I need to get away from, so I’m going to stay away from the friendly flirting for a while. I’ll be more than content just flirting with you.”

“Well then we won’t make out for awhile, I’m okay with that. As long as you don’t plan on just never holding me hand and kissing me at least once every time you see me, I’ll compromise a lot, but I won’t give that up.” He laughed softly as he shook his head. “I know your reputation trust me, it’s going to take you a long time to let that one down and gain a better one.”

ryan-s-hill:

“I was meaning with the kissing. We both know we have a hard time keeping our hands to ourselves when we aren’t trying to fight our feelings for each other.” Pulling him impossibly close to his chest, Ryan felt content for the first time in months. “Of course I’ll still flirt with you. You’re the only person I’ll flirt with.“

“Okay, we’ll take a break with the kissing, I don’t want you to get carried away and end up regretting everything. Even though it’s really nice to kiss you.” He spoke as he wrapped his arm around him. “I didn’t think this is what would happen when I asked you to come with me. I thought it was something that would help get us back on track as friends.. but, I’m really glad with the way it turned out.” He smiled as he kissed his cheek. He could just stay here all night with him. “Friendly flirting is okay, I mean I trust you enough to know that I’m your one and only, and that I am the only one that you want.”

ryan-s-hill:

“I suppose that worked to my advantage if that’s the case. I’ll show it in one way or another, because honestly, we both deserve it. I’m yours, I’ve always been yours since you never gave my heart back when I moved. We should slow down though. I don’t want this to start out doomed. Slow..we have to be slow. I need to prove not only to you, but myself that I can do this.” Kissing him once more, Ry smiled happily. “No more flirting for me.”

“I don’t want to give your heart back, I love holding it.” He spoke with a smile as he kept his gaze on him. “Slow down? All I’m doing is telling you what I want, I am still completely mindful of the fact that you still have things to work on.” Jer laughed softly as he pulled his arm closer. “You can still flirt with me though, that would be acceptable and encouraged.”

ryan-s-hill:

“Okay, I want it, but I know I need to work on a few things before I can get together with someone. Though that doesn’t mean I don’t know who would be good for me. Who would make me happiest. I know I’ve said to a lot of people I’m ready, but you..you’re the first person I’m actually going to prove it to. It won’t just be talk for you, I’ll do what I have to in order to prove it. You aren’t going to have to be in this position all over again.” Ryan admitted, turning towards him with hope in his eyes for their future. “I’ll go slow just so we don’t have to go through this again.”

“I will always love you, no matter what happens. I’ve tried to get over you and it’s just almost impossible. You don’t have anything to prove to me, you just have to show it, make an attempt. I want us to be in this together. I want you to be mine again and I am willing to go as slow as you want to go.” He whispered as he leaned forward to lightly kiss his lips.

ryan-s-hill:

“I know it never depended on me. I know you can function just fine without me, and I know we could be friends if we just tried, but with everything we’ve been through–maybe there’s a reason we haven’t fully gotten over each other?” Feeling him move towards his side, Ryan instinctively wrapped his arm around the male. “I don’t think I am either. I can stop flirting if I want to, if I have someone who actually wants to be with me, I’d make them my one and only. I just…I need to be sure im in a good place mentally. Which is why I want to do things really slow.”

“I understand that, Ryan, I do. But you have to see it like this, You can’t tell someone that you’re ready if you’re not ready. It gives this sense of false hope only to end up hurt and wanting it all over again. I want nothing more than to try this again with you, but I am terrified that I’m going to end up being in this position all over again.” He spoke as he moved to lay his head on Ryan’s chest. “I want to be the person you try with.. just.. don’t make me promises you can’t keep. I just want you to really want it like I do..”

ryan-s-hill:

Moving to lay back on his back, looking up at the sky, only to keep their hands together at their sides before speaking. “Well it will make you happy to hear that I’m pretty much over my ex. It took a big of time, but I don’t have the need to be with him anymore. I still want to go slow on this type of things, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it. Taking you on dates, just enjoying each others company. I feel like you’re the one person from my past that wouldn’t…turn their back on me. Who would actually want to date and just go slow. Very slow.” He wasn’t sure how he felt about Romeo, but between Jeremiah and Nora, he was the person who always told him how he felt. Who never hid how he felt or what he wanted. “If you’re willing to work with me, I’d be open to it. I’m ready for it.”

“My happiness never depended on you and the fact that you weren’t over your ex. I never got over you, so why would I do that to you? You know that I will never turn my back on you. I’ve been hurting so much over everything. Still being friends with you and knowing that I’m still in love with you is hard, but I would rather have you in my life as a friend than not have you at all.. but fuck.. I would love to have you as more than my friend.” He spoke as he looked at him, moving to turn onto his side to get himself a bit closer. He was in love with this man and he knew that he always would be. “I don’t think you’re ready for it.. I don’t think you can just stop flirting with everyone around you and we both know that’s going to always be a problem. Though I do want it again, I want to be with you...”

ryan-s-hill:

“That’s not where my head was, so I wasn’t expecting it.” Grabbing his hand that lightly rested on his chest, Ryan shook his head. “Please, don’t.” Allowing his thumb to lightly brush against the skin under the pad of his thumb, Ryan sighed. “I wish it was. I would love that.”

Jer looked at his hand the moment he felt Ryan grab his hand. “Sorry..” He spoke as he stopped moving his hand. He only pressed it against the males chest more. “I’d love it too, but that’s no secret, every one knows I’m still in love with you, even you know that.”

ryan-s-hill:

“Now who’s the one bringing things up.” Ryan smirked as he turned onto his side, pulling Jer closer to him as he took a chance to press his lips to the others. “I agree, it would be amazing.” He spoke once he finally pulled away.

“You asked. And we both knew it was obvious what I was talking about, so the question was pointless. He moved his hand, resting it lightly against his chest as he kissed him. “But that’s not how it is.. “

ryan-s-hill:

“Just let me know and i’ll make it happen.” He smiled as he finally turned his head towards the male next to him. “You think so? How could it be more perfect? You’re intrigued me.”

“Yeah, I think we should.” He spoke as he looked at him. “We would be together right now, that’s what would make this more perfect. So it’ll just be,,, amazing.”

ryan-s-hill:

“You think I care? If it’s something you want to do, let’s do it! It’s not like they can leave us here exactly, if anything we will have detention, which would just mean more time with you. It seems like a win to me if you ask me.” Not looking over as he laid next to him, Ry nodded. “I’m not sure how it could get any more perfect.”

“I’ll think about it.” He spoke as he turned his head to look at him, a small sigh passing his lips before he shifted his gaze back up to the sky. “Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to stay awhile.” He smiled before he lightly laughed. “Trust me, it can be more perfect, at least I think it could be.”

ryan-s-hill:

“I wouldn’t be against having to sneak back onto the ship at the dead of night as we can be out here when it gets dark. I mean I do have flashlights in my backpack–I wasn’t completely thoughtless when I was packing.” Sitting on one of the step like ledges, Ry laid back as he looked up at the sky before closing his eyes. Listening to every sound that could be heard around them. “I think I could die happy right about now.”

“You realize that we could get in a lot of trouble if we get caught. I don’t know if either of us are ready for that.. but it would be kinda nice to see what it looks like.” He spoke as he watched Ryan lay back. He sat down next to him, eyes up at the sky. “It’s almost a perfect moment in time.”

ryan-s-hill:

“Or you don’t have to.” Ryan muttered more to himself as his ex walked away from him. Maybe it was best that the pair strictly became party friends so he knew what he could and couldn’t talk about, but that wasn’t something he really wanted. “How long do you think these have been here?” He asked as he changed the subject all together, moving to walk alone as he composed himself.

“A lot longer than you and I have been alive.” He spoke as he looked around before looking back to the his ex. He let a small sigh pass his lips before he tucked his hands into his pocket, looking at everything that was around them. “This place probably looks amazing at night.” He was trying his hardest to work with the subject change and get a new conversation started, he just wanted to have one good day with him.

ryan-s-hill:

“I know and I really need to get over how much pain i’ll be in afterwards. Someone is having me get up early and do a few workouts, but I’m still dying as much as I was before I started.” As realization hit him at what he said, Ryan reached for the males arm, bringing him to a stop. “Hey, I’m sorry. I have to remember that you’re not over it. I’ll be careful on what I do and don’t say. Can we go back to having fun? I really miss spending time with you.”

“You won’t be in too much pain, all you need is a little ice and you’ll be perfectly fine.” He stopped the very second his arm was grabbed and quickly turned around to look at him. “You’re right, I’m not over it and I don’t know when I will be, but the more you talk about it..about how we used to be, it makes it that much harder.” He spoke as he kept his gaze on him. “Please, let’s drop it and pretend it didn’t happen, because I can’t go the rest of my day like it, I’d rather enjoy being out here.”

ryan-s-hill:

“I wish I had your activity level, because I literally do nothing but sit on my bed, do homework and write music.” Noticing how Jer nearly ran into him, he felt bad for stopping so suddenly. He should know better at this point with how often he’d do that. “I should of believed you. You never steer me wrong when it comes to things like this.” As his body went to block his view from the ruins in front of them, Ryan gave him his full attention as he looked at him with confusion. “It’s not like we broke up for an awful reason or anything. I moved, that was it. It’s not like I didn’t still love you. What am I doing? I’m just talking to you?”

“All you have to do is want to get out and then actually do it.” He could never fully understand how he was the one that was more active between the two of them. Truthfully, until recently, even Jeremiah had been pretty lazy. “It’s not that you’re just talking, it always comes back to the past, every time.. and I just, I’m not going to talk about it.”He spoke as he turned around and started to walk down the trail more, making his way closer to the ruins.
