Been such a pleasure being able to go out and about with @jonbodhi here in #kyoto. Butterfly Whisperer . Went to #北野天満宮 (#kitanotenmangu) today with my mom to go look at all the different food stalls (only one vegan friendly...) and antiques (which were amazing). While we sat down at a table to relax on this hot hot day, this butterfly flew by, landed on some hot fabric and dropped to the ground. Wanting to rescue the butterfly and bring it to shade I went to pick it up. It hesitated at first when I brought my hand near. I sensed the hesitation, calmed and grounded myself, whispered "It's OK..." then proceeded again. It was amazing. Not only did the butterflies hesitation stop, but it just chilled out on my hand for minutes. Thinking it was thirsty, walked over to a nearby food stall to see if they had any sugar, got some water, and made some sugar water. Didn't want any so wen close to a shady bush and it came right back to life, climbed on the bush to relax. . One of the many things I've become aware of by eating a #plantbaseddiet is my capacity to connect with animals. Change is never easy, and neither is letting go. This is one of the last photos I've taken with my van, Ka Wa'a Nui. My great canoe that's taken me all over NZ and what I've gotten more attached to than I had expected. . There's a saying in Japan that goes "あらゆる者に神が宿る" (arayuru mono ni kami ga yadoru) which directly translates into "God is in everything", but the actual translation is closer to "spirit inhabits everything". I felt like a part of my spirit is in this van. I bought the van as a regular commuter and built it up from there. Went through two designs, and lots of work to get her to where she is now. During that time, my heart and my soul went into Ka Wa'a Nui. She is more than a van, more than a camper, she is a part of me now. . So tomorrow is going to be tough. Tomorrow, she goes to a new home. Took a while but I found someone who appreciates her and the work that's gone into her as I do. A good home was the most important thing to me so glad I found that at least. . Mahalo nui loa, my Ka Wa'a Nui. With my time in NZ is slowly coming to an end, and my van up for sale, it dawned on me that I don't have a single photo with her! So the next couple of photos are going to be of me with my beloved van, Ka Wa'a Nui (The Great Canoe in Hawaiian). . She has taken me all over and I feel we've both grown in our time here in NZ. . Back towards the end of 2017, I went to a personal development seminar called Wizard Training and I made a commitment to myself. That within a year, I would be living in a van traveling all over the US. Well, it took a little over a year and definitely didn't do vanlife in the US (for certain political reasons), but I did it. I bought a van in a foreign country, did the interior myself, and lived out of it traveling all over. It has been an absolute journey living out of her and has taught me so much about how much I actually need (cuz there's VERY LITTLE space 😂). I'm a little sad to have to sell her, but I know that there's someone who will take great care of her as I embark on the next chapter of my life. . Mahalo nui loa, ありがとう, and thank you, Ka Wa'a Nui!
