Have you voted yet?! Scot & I voted this morning. I think it took us around 45 mins from parking to leaving. Election Day has always been such an exciting day for me because I grew up very active in the local political scene. This year feels different though. There’s so much anxiety in the air & I don’t know about you but I’ve felt it in my body since last night. The things at stake with the outcome of this election are just too high. I’m struggling between wanting to stay glued to the news or distracting myself until tonight when I know I won’t be able to distract myself any longer. I hope you will vote today. When you think about body positivity what comes to mind? To me being “body positive” is personal. It’s about accepting your body & loving it shamelessly. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin & owning it. I believe people of all shapes & sizes can be body positive but when you internalize negative thoughts about others bodies you’re not doing it right. Body positivity is inherently harder for plus size people because society has made it that way. Someone somewhere decided that the worst thing a person could be, was fat. I’m here to tell you, your weight doesn’t define you. Don’t let anyone tell you different. Easier said than done right. It helps to remember that no one is sharing every single detail of their life on social media. We all pick & choose when/if we are going to be vulnerable and with what subject we are willing to bare all. For me it has helped to not follow people I know I am going to have a comparison problem with. In the same regard as only following people who look like me, it’s a choice I easily make for myself & my own mental health. Right now it could be especially hard on people as we’ve all been sequestered away from “normal life” for so long. This year hasn’t been kind to anyone though. Remember that everyone is going through things whether they talk about it or not!
