V-Day Commissions

In time for the special day [sentiments may vary], I’m accepting couple portrait commissions for only £60* and all you have to do is email me:

Send photos of two people and a delivery address. The photos can be of the loved-up ones together or separate, as long as they’re of good quality I can work with them. Portrait paintings make for a great present for any occasion, not just Feb 14, but these will be shipped for that day so take advantage.  And don’t think just romantic couples need apply!  A parent and child, siblings, grandparents, any two people that have a special bond, I will paint.

You will receive a full colour A3 sized art print, digitally painted by myself, hand-signed, sealed and delivered, it’s yours!  Printed on good thick 250gsm paper, sent first class from the UK, payable through PayPal.

My scribblings from the last two days. I'm reopening mini portrait commissions so played with a few faces to determine a consistent style. Going to complete my portrait of Eleven from Stranger Things after all! Thought I’d be satisfied with the rough digital sketch and move on, but her face is so lovely I felt frustrated I didn’t do it justice, so after being indecisive about stylizing and realism I went with my gut; realism is just more me and how I paint I guess! At the moment anyway. Finished piece should be up by Thursday. J.x

Beginning of my ‘Eleven’ from Netflix’ Stranger Things series. IT’S BRILLIANT! SHE IS ESPECIALLY BRILLIANT! Have you watched it all yet?!  It’s just.... lovely.  Kids being best chums, braving creepy on-goings... Fab fab fab. Anyhoos, I’ve been a bit quiet as I was away in Valencia for a needed sunshine-filled break.  I looked ghostly pale after one day back in Manchester’s grey.  Bloody northern skies!! But I’m back, with this painting now on, finishing my first short comic (buy the first part here) and just more painting and comics and paintings.  I think I’ve got a lot of great time on my hands each week to use. Use it wisely, I will. J.x

A day I get to paint is a good day! I've been using Kyle T. Webster Illustration's digital brushes for some practise, as it's been a really really long while since I painted digitally. And, Elizabeth Taylor? Hellooooo! Total inspiration! She was such a strong and caring person, the more I learn about her the more she has my admiration. I seem to end up going more realistic than stylised when I've been away from painting, which I admit I don't like, but I'm not complaining. I guess it's because it's safer/lazier doing realism from a reference photo..?  Well, anyway, it’s not filled with the most artistic integrity.  I used the Gouache Wet brush from Kyle's Mega Pack which is available here and has completely changed how I use Photoshop to paint: https://gumroad.com/l/HKgA Enjoy the rest of your Saturday night! J.x

I've been using my Pentel brush pen for the first time and it's SO much fun! So therapeutic and helps me really focus on how I make marks, which I realise I need to do and growing older isn't fixing it ;) J.x
