Ilya parties and drinks and smokes and fucks because he's running from his problems. Enter boring, stable, affectionate Shane Hollander. And suddenly Ilya is secure enough to realise that he doesn't need that lifestyle to be happy, what he always needed was unconditional love and he has it.

Ilya's father calls him lazy. His brother tells Ilya that he is worthless. His mother is the only one who loved him. We see Ilya excited to compete with the guy who was nice to him. He won first draft because he had someone to play against. Ilya attacks the game. He wins first draft.

The next two times he plays against Shane, Ilya loses. He had to go back to Russia and face his father. What is clicking? You are the captain, you make them click. Then Ilya returns with a fiery speech and they win. Ilya use pushed and punished and that's how he treats the game. Meeting Shane was like meeting a boy scout that never grew up.

You think Ilya wasn't intrigued by that? Is this guy for real? Would he still like me if I beat him? Wait, do I still like him when I win? Ilya pushes everyone away. And this guy doesn't get mad and keeps coming back. When their relationship is clicking their game play gets better.

After the rooftop Vegas ended in Shane walking away angry. Bit of their game play suffered. The announcer asked where was Rozanov, where was Hollander?
