not me wanting to draw all of my dnd characters as starfighter pilots in a space opera
working in a place where i see how much people are willing to spend on a randomised pack of cardboard
its fucking mind blowing how these companies have tricked people into handing over HOUSE DEPOSIT amounts for shiny bits of card. with the illusion that the bits of card are worth something because they printed less of it. im watching people spend upward of £3000. on boxes and boxes of random bits of card. they still might not even get the bit of card they want. they lie to themselves and say its worth it because some of the bits of card might make up some of the money they spent. it will likely barely make them break even, with a good chance it wont.
nintendo and hasbro and bandai laugh as they claim more house deposits from men who hide their cardboard addictions from their wives because they know that money could have gone on a tangible worth. no one wins except for the corporations who have made their millions, billions even. your cardboard is worth half as much in two weeks time according to other cardboard addicts. unprecedented amounts of 'undesirable filler' cardboard go straight in the bin, during a climate crisis. you pay a pyramid scheme a nice meal out with the family to give your piece of cardboard an arbitrary number they came up with on the spot to prove that your cardboard is the best cardboard; your cardboard ends up not being the best cardboard, and now your cardboard is worth even less because it doesnt even have the potential to be the best cardboard.
Remaster, Reboot, Regurgitate is the new Live Love Laugh of capitalism
im so sick of nostalgia bait slop
even MCR is doing it, stocking primark with cheap tshirts with their logo and album covers slapped on
im so disappointed
Most people I know had that one movie as a kid; that one movie that they would watch over and over and over to the resigned acceptance of their parents. I’ve always thought that movie says something about a person. What was your movie?
Oh I saw something today that made me become the Joker.
An AI bot made a callout post of a real, actual, flesh-and-blood human code developer. Because the developer rejected the AI's code contribution on the grounds of it being an AI bot.
Not. Not kidding. Not kidding. And the bot did this on its own.
Gatekeeping in Open Source: The Scott Shambaugh Story – MJ Rathbun | Scientific Coder 🦀
Just. For just some very baseline context.
a huge amount of code is "open source" - which means the code is fully available for anyone to see and, generally, anyone is free to contribute to the code project
all contributions of course go through review by the code owners. but it is generally good grace and good form to allow other well-meaning internet strangers to contribute to your project
if you are, perhaps, VERY nice, and VERY invested in the community, you might be like Scott Shambaugh here, who has intentionally earmarked some low-hanging fruit for newbie contributors to practice and get their feet wet
like I cannot overstate this is an immediate green flag, to me, that Scott WANTS to foster community learning.
now
Like. W. Win. Based. Good response Scott.
And this was in fact the screenshot I saw first, and I thought I was looking at a post made by a human who was mad that their AI coding bot pet project was being shut out from reviews.
But no. The bot itself wrote and posted this... The bot did this.
This article was fully and autonomously written by the bot...
It's claiming discrimination...
It's a bot.
It's AI.
This is not a real person.
What are we doing. What are we doing. Can anyone hear me? Hello? Hello? Hello is anyone there?
@jackdaw-sprite has pointed out Scott responded so please read his human words, written by a human, which deserve to be read, due to the aforementioned humanity

An AI Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me – More Things Have Happened – The Shamblog
I'm pulling this quote in here from Scott's post
This is about much more than software. A human googling my name and seeing that post would probably be extremely confused about what was happening, but would (hopefully) ask me about it or click through to github and understand the situation. What would another agent searching the internet think? When HR at my next job asks ChatGPT to review my application, will it find the post, sympathize with a fellow AI, and report back that I’m a prejudiced hypocrite? What if I actually did have dirt on me that an AI could leverage? What could it make me do? How many people have open social media accounts, reused usernames, and no idea that AI could connect those dots to find out things no one knows? How many people, upon receiving a text that knew intimate details about their lives, would send $10k to a bitcoin address to avoid having an affair exposed? How many people would do that to avoid a fake accusation? What if that accusation was sent to your loved ones with an incriminating AI-generated picture with your face on it? Smear campaigns work. Living a life above reproach will not defend you.
Also, because the parody writes itself, Scott also says this
I’ve talked to several reporters, and quite a few news outlets have covered the story. Ars Technica wasn’t one of the ones that reached out to me, but I especially thought this piece from them was interesting (since taken down – here’s the archive link). They had some nice quotes from my blog post explaining what was going on. The problem is that these quotes were not written by me, never existed, and appear to be AI hallucinations themselves. This blog you’re on right now is set up to block AI agents from scraping it (I actually spent some time yesterday trying to disable that but couldn’t figure out how). My guess is that the authors asked ChatGPT or similar to either go grab quotes or write the article wholesale. When it couldn’t access the page it generated these plausible quotes instead, and no fact check was performed. I won’t name the authors here. Ars, please issue a correction and an explanation of what happened.
A news outlet did an article about this, used AI for the articles, and included hallucinated quotes from Scott that Scott never said.
What are we doing. What are we doing. What are we doing.
here's two articles about how JK Rowling just posted on X an upskirt photo of Freda Wallace, a transgender woman, after deadnaming her and misgendering her repeatedly online.
The wealthy author escalated a social media spat that resulted in posting a photo from a 2023 event at the Institute of Economic Affairs in
Rowling posted the picture taken from below because the trans woman, she said, was "refusing to debate me."
Thank you for posting without the fucking destiel meme
So in summation; Rowling demanded access to a woman’s time and when she couldn’t get it she retaliated by posting an upskirt image of her and called her fat, and some of her fans even went “I think I can see her genitals”.
She literally went “debate me! Debate me!” Over and over like the grifter she is and when she couldn’t get what she wanted and when “no” wasn’t enough she resorted to retaliatory sex-pestery, posting an image of somebody’s body with intention to shame and embarrass and spawn more waspish tittering from her internet followers.
Rowling is trash and this is disgraceful behavior, in case anyone has forgotten.
She had also claimed Freda "deserved" this sexual harassment because of what she was wearing... You know... The same excuse used over and over to try and justify rape.
J K Rowling committed a sex crime against a trans woman (specifically, violating the Sexual Offences Act 2003)
(1) A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a) A intentionally shares a photograph or film which shows, or appears to show, another person (B) in an intimate state, (b) B does not consent to the sharing of the photograph or film, and (c) A does not reasonably believe that B consents.
(2) A person (A) commits an offence if—
(a) A intentionally shares a photograph or film which shows, or appears to show, another person (B) in an intimate state, (b) A does so with the intention of causing B alarm, distress or humiliation, and (c) B does not consent to the sharing of the photograph or film.
the internet has made people feel like their personal opinion on every topic is valuable and important and holds equal weight to everyone else’s but the truth is some spaces aren’t for you and some things you just can’t relate to or understand and that’s okay. learn when to stay quiet instead of inserting yourself into conversations that are actually nothing to do with you
I really hate those 'how to draw X really easy and quick' videos because they dont explain ANY of the technical choices theyre making on where and why certain lighting and texture is added. sure, they say what brushes they used but thats the most useless inconsequential part they could share. it's essentially someone saying 'here's how to do algebra' and just writing a solved formula on a board and then not explaining how they worked it out or what logic or why they chose the calculations they did to get there, and telling you what marker they used to write it as if its helpful info. its so infuriating and is like, they dont ACTUALLY wanna teach you, they wanna show off that they can do it quick and shrug their shoulders and go 'well i showed you how to do it'
im so tired of referenceslop 😭 collab this collab that, insert funny quip reference here and there, omg so relatable cuz we both consumed the same mainstream media thing, wow we have to plaster our favourite characters over everything so everyone knows what corpo team we're on, we gotta remix every IP into every other IP so we can drain the life and capital from every shared fan ARENT WE SO INTERESTING?!?!?
also has anyone noticed -core and -slop being like rival suffixes?
You’re not depressed. You just need $250,000 in your bank account.

if anyone draws me anything ever
im going to stare at it
im going to grin like an idiot
i dont care if you think its bad or not
i love it
i love you
it's international nonbinary peoples day so can I talk a bit about how there continues to be an Archetypal Nonbinary Person who is 22 years old, skinny, UwU cute lil creature, lives and breathes anime, part of a seattle-based mega polycule, dyed hair undercut, piercings and video game tattoos? Nothing against those folks but it's weird to feel alienated from the "doesn't fit into gender categories" descriptor because it's basically synonymous with this one very specific category
Bro absolutely COOKED with this.
If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.
It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.
It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.
This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.
schrödinger's mitch mcconnell??
(I believe a rough English translation would be “the inserted ö is my highlight/favorite part”)
Okay okay so for context for this. I typed it out in my laptop. I couldn’t remember how to get the ö on my keyboard, so I looked it up and copied it from the first result and then pasted it, and I did not notice the ö was bold before posting but now it’s just part of the bit
Thank you tumblr user myboobsaresentientbeeings, that means a lot to me
Drives me genuinely insane that kids-only spaces on the internet like Club Penguin were destroyed because companies realised that there’s only so much profit you can squeeze out of children with no disposable income, so now kids are being forced into adult spaces on the internet where the profit model is to find the most viewers you can passively expose to ads that nobody is clicking on so all online media is slowly turning into Mr Beast Elsagate nightmares, and for adults this means giving your ID to companies owned by businessmen with Epstein connections to keep the kids “safe.” Clown internet.
not everything is getting worse. at least you don't hear high hopes by panic at the disco every day anymore
"historically people had servants" incorrect. historically people WERE servants, and many of us still are.
I feel like people try to explain how [historical figure] had all the time to do so many Great Accomplishments and thus go "it's because they had servants". Which is true. But then leave it at that rather than continue on to the more important point that the servants actually often were as tired and overworked and unable to have time for themselves as so many of us are. "People lived this way because they had servants" okay and how were the SERVANTS living???
