Fans are happy that Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer received Emmy noms for Killing Eve, but they’re even happier that the show itself didn’t.

I just realised why I find the bathroom scene where they first meet so special. For villanelle, eve’s hair caught her attention so her first real interest in eve polastri was her appearance. But she was oblivious to her line of work in MI6, so she had no clue eve was hunting her down. Meanwhile for eve, her first interest in villanelle was her line of work (as an assassin) but she was oblivious to what she looked like; her appearance. So they initially knew of each other but in opposing directions.

As eve learns of villanelle’s face, villanelle learns eve’s name. they fill in eachothers gaps perfectly and (here’s the best part) they fall for what they discover about the other person.

Eve was fascinated by villanelle’s job (assassin) but became even more fascinated by villanelle as a person. Villanelle was fascinated by eve’s looks (hair), but became even more fascinated by eve as a person. It’s a funny but beautiful equilibrium.
