Lord Rao (of Strange U) teams up with Herrmutt Lobby and Cupp Cave for this sick joint. They're about to drop an EP on Detroit Underground very soon. For now there's this dope video by Jack 'GG' Peney. SMASH!
Daymé Arocena, hailing from Cuba, is releasing her debut on Brownswood this summer (June 8). Everything I've heard from her so far (a little EP and some single she pre-released) is just plain wonderful. Just give her amazing take on 'Cry me a River' a spin, it's really refreshing! She sounds so suprisingly confident with her sound and with the music she makes, I did not really believe she's just 22 years old. Well it's true - and yes you should chek her out!
There's more details over here, and you'll find more right here, once her debut drops. Enjoy!

Coca-hiena by TheKidd EP ft. El Caetano. Big stuff.
Ep coming soon.
So, BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah (finally) dropped their long-awaited collab album Sour Soul (Lex Records). It's pretty tight, straight forward, very well produced, and just a decent record. There's some nice gems on there, like 'Street Knowledge' and the 'Ray Gun' featuring MF DOOM.
It's not too surprising, though, not really experimental, no new grounds discovered. Killah doesn't really go new places with his lyrics (not that he'd have to). And BBNG just do a very very good job at what they always do. Don't get me wrong, that's not a bad thing. But its not a game changer either.
Jason Seizer's 'Cinema Paradiso' truly is a wonderful and subtle take on film music. This version of The Jungle Book's 'Jungle Beat' is pure bliss. Also, Seizer's long time fellow - and one of my favourite pianists - Pablo Held is on there, which is a very good thing. Out on Pirouet, go check it out.
Tigran Hamasyan's MOCKROOT (nonesuch) is massive, powerful, surprising, thoguhtful, and a lot of fun! Also, this guy's just crazy prolific.
His latest one sounds like he is redesicovering his earlier records (he did some pretty heavy jazz-metal-prog-shit back in the days) and enriching it with all the insights and experiements from his later works. (Just want to point out his wonderful collaboration with Lars Danielsson, Arve Henriksen, and others from 2012, ACT). Also, it sounds like he'd really like BADBADNOTGOOD's take on jazz these days.
I really love this guy's originality. Had the pleasure of seeing him live in Berlin a year ago, you should do the same if you can. Also I wrote about him earlier: http://itsrainingblackpixels.com/post/17355299879
