Anyone have any opinions on clown spaying/neutering?
My girlfriend tried to neuter me, please don't do this to your clowns. I did get a vasectomy done though.
oh my 0.o

There is an epidemic in clown shelters of spaying/neutering before they are fully mature and it is KILLING CLOWNS! Spaying and Neutering are fine but they absolutely need to be done the proper way, which means waiting until the clown is fully matured, going to a reputable clown doctor, and make sure your clown properly heals after the surgery.

does anyone know what species clowns originally decended from? And are fools an ancestor of the clown? Also what does a clown look like in it's larvae state? Are they mammals?
[introduced my boyfriend to clown husbandry and he has these questions, any info would be appreciated!]
Yes, actually! All clown genuses are descendants of the Homo jokehonkulus. While Fools and Clowns are related, neither is descended from the other. Fools and Clowns are both branches from the Homo jokehonkulus common ancestor. Yes, they are mammals! As for their larval states, the appearances vary vastly from species to species, but generally, they just appear as a smaller version of their adult selves, but without pubescent markings and traits. Hope this helps!
thank you!

hi fellow clown husbandry guys - I will admit, I am pretty new to the clown husbandry community and have little to no experience on the subject, but I have been doing some research on this topic and well -
about a week ago I found this little guy [pictured above] roaming the neighborhood, and after asking around for a possible owner and coming up with nothing, I took him in. None of my local shelters have the proper accomodations for keeping clowns and I do not want to send him to a kill shelter, so I think this little guy is here to stay.
Can anyone help me figure out what breed he is? I'm thinking toy circus clown [toy because of his size]? But I have no idea, as I said before I'm pretty new to all this.
Some info to help identify him:
He loves cotton candy, but sometimes gets sick from eating too much of it. Loves bells and has a small collection of them hidden under my bed [I have no idea where he gets them] he tumbles and jumps and is very active, but also gentle when playing with me. He is very vocal [honking, squeaking, jingling, etc] but mostly at night. he gets scared around other humans and is wary of other clowns when I take him out for walks.
Any advice for a new clown owner?
It does sound like a circus clown, or maybe an acrobat clown. That could explain the tumbling. I’d recommend taking him to your local clown doctor to get him genetically tested just so you can properly care for the little guy!
Thank you! set up an appointment next week for him - he's getting a checkup to make sure he's healthy and a gene test to confirm what breed[s] he is

Hello there! Welcome to the community.
To me, this appears to be a jester/pierrot mix. Possibly with a little bit of circus clown included in, but jester seems to stand out the most. His shyness and part of his appearance seems to come from the pierrot breed. his hat, and love for bells and jingles and activity feels very jester!
Circus clown definitely is in there the more i think about it, looking at the shoes and nose! So i would say a mix of those things.
Please feed him a range of fruits, peanuts, and hot dogs and see how he does!
Thank you for the info!
The more I look into jesters, the more I feel his personality is a match, but I have booked an appointment with a clown doctor next week to check him out and find out his heritage [we are so exited!]
I gave him some fruit which he loved, and picked up some peanuts/hotdogs for him today - again, thank you so much for the info and I will keep posting any updates :D
