Outside the hostel he was staying at, Myles was sitting at a bench, checking his phone. He and Kate had agreed to meet up so now he was just waiting.
It felt weird having to trust comeplete strangers to not mess with him or try to kill him, but with literally having no identity, all he could do was trust the world and the people in it. Which was scary, but what else could he do.

Kate was walking as quickly as she could down the street. She had promised a time but life did what it always did; fuck up her schedule. She had still done her best and was on the street a minute late.
“Myles?” She asked as she saw a person. At least it was a person that seemed to have normal body parts. Still didn’t mean the danger was over.
It never was.
Okay, so maybe the job fucked her up more than she thought.
Myles looked up from his phone, toward the voice. He had this sense of nervousness around him, like a deer in a way. He quickly stood up and put on his best smile.
"Yeah, that's me. Kate, I assume?"
She smiled back. Glad her work forced her to actually look put together instead of the tired mess she felt like at the moment.
“Yes I am.” She held out a hand. “Lovely to actually meet you.”
Myles took her hand and shook it.
"It's lovely to meet you too"
He pulled his hand away and put it in his hoodie pocket.
"So, how are you? Is there anything you wanna discuss?"
Kate shrugged. Trying to think of something to ask.
“Well, can’t ask about you…” She said outloud. “Sorry.”
She stayed quiet for a bit. Before deciding to just say a bit about her flat, should be an okay conversation.
“I still got a bed, wardrobe and tiny desk in your room, maybe a bit tight but at least we don’t have to carry that up. I don’t have food restrictions but we’ll figure out if you do later…”
"Well, I know I'm not allergic to anything, they did tests when I was at the hospital, so there's that. If I was vegetarian or something before, it clearly hasn't affected how I eat, considering I've eaten meat multiple times now since I've been awake."
Maybe Myles could add 'using humour as a form of coping' to the list of things he knows about himself.
"Also, I should be alright money wise, I got an email set up when I got to the hostel, made an application and I think I might have an interview for a job"
At least that would make buying food easier.
“That’s great! What’s the job? I hope it won’t take too long from home.”
They had started to walk and Kate made a right turn. Normally she’d take the underground but felt that right now, assuming Myles didn’t have a card for transport, walking would be easier.
"Some research job, I think. It's pretty near the home actually, I'd only need to take a bus but I think I can walk there, honestly."
That was another thing he knew about himself, he had pretty good stamina and seemingly a high metabolism.
"Honestly it's weird that the only things I know about myself is how my body works, you'd think I'd have figured out something I liked or disliked by now."
“Oh! That’s great! Do you know what they research? You probably do, if you did enough research about the place.”
Sometimes Kate wished she had gone into research instead. It sounded way better and cooler than being stuck with books no matter how much she loved her job.
“Not surprised. Don’t think you’ve had a lot of time to explore things to like or not. We can have like… Movie nights, look at some episodes from different series and some movies to explore some genres… a lot of different snacks and food…”
"That sounds fun! Is there anything you recommend we watch first, any personal favourites?"
“There’s too much…”
Kate spent perhaps a bit too long trying to think of the best movie or series to introduce him to.
“Supernatural is a must at some point, oh maybe Doctor Who too. There’s a lot of seasons but we can just watch a few episodes, maybe from different seasons- At least if we watch Doctor Who… Oh, Lord of the Rings are a must too.”

My previous just packed her stuff and left while I was at work? Her handwriting is so horrible I can’t understand the note…
Anyways, since I don’t really get paid enough to live all by myself in times like this; anyone in London in need of a place? Would like it if you don’t plan on killing me or throwing me into supernatural trips I didn’t ask for

Kate wasn’t sure how much time had passed since it all started. She wasn’t sure how many turns she had taken without properly thinking. At one point she had started taking out books from the familiar shelves, only to be met with blank pages.
Eventually, at one of the turns, there seemed to be some light. At first she thought it would be another dead-end, only to see a park. She went through the… door? Though it wasn’t a door. Finding herself next to a bench. Whatever she had come out from, no longer behind her.

Casey was sitting on a bench in the park, with her dog by their side. She'd been getting used to walking outside on her, partially, own ever since she got out of the hospital, and spending time sitting in the park became a part of their new routine.
Casey Knew before they heard Kate appear next to the bench she was sitting on, and turned their head to face where she was.
"Kate?"
“What the fu-“ Kate whispered as she looked at the place she just came from. She then turned to the bench.
“Casey!” She smiled. “Fun meeting you here. Hope you don’t mind me sitting down I’ve been walking for… some time…” With that she sat down on the bench next to Casey.
"I don't mind at all"
As Kate sat down, Casey still looked at her, like they were observing her for a moment
"So, what happened to you?"
“Well…” Kate started.
She thought over what had just happened. ‘Just working’ perhaps, but that wasn’t completely true. Even though it looked like the institute’s library. ‘Looking at books’ was perhaps a bit closer to the truth. Despite the fact that there were no text in the books. Perhaps it would be easier if she knew how long it had been…
“Do you know the time?” She asked, realising her phone was probably still on her desk.

Kate had never done much for Christmas. The past three years she hadn’t even gone out properly Christmas shopping. Well, apparently this year meant changes.
She had just gotten out from a bookstore, putting something in her bag as she did.

A familiar cat walked up to her, rubbing against her legs.
Kate quickly closed the bag as she noticed. She smiled and crouched down to pet Willard.
“Hi, what are you doing here?” She asked. Was she close to Amelie’s place? Kate wasn’t sure.
Willard chirps happily, enjoying the pets. Soon enough, Amelie follows.
Kate was too busy focusing on Willard to notice Amelie.
“Probably not a great place for me to stop though.” She said after a bit, finally standing up. “Oh! Hi Amelie.”
"Hi Kate. Seems like Willard has found you, huh?¿"
Amelie waves, smiling slightly.
“She has!” Kate smiled.
“What are you doing here?” She asked Amelie this time. “Asked Willard but… well, cats don’t exactly talk.”
"The princess wanted to go on a walk."
Amelie explains, rolling faer eyes playfully. Willard chirps happily, as if not realising Amelie is talking about her.
“Ah, of course, of course. Walks are very important.”
She pushed the shoulder bag a bit to the side without thinking. As if Amelie had some x-ray vision through the bag.
Willard stretched, leaning onto Amelie's legs, asking to be picked up.
"What about you¿? Running errands¿?"
“Me?” Kate unnecessarily asked. At least it gave her a few seconds more to think over an answer.
“Just… Just last minute Christmas shopping.” She said eventually. Lying to Amelie would probably not work well.
