The Sopranos Cast & their queer roles
Noticed a running theme here, so decided to make a thread of the Sopranos cast and their queer roles in other movies/TV shows ~ if I missed any, please lmk!! And also, please lmk if you'd like the link to any of these films, as I know where to watch them all, mostly
James Gandolfini ( Tony Soprano)
🎬 The Mexican (2001)
He plays a gay hitman, I honestly love him in this film he's so good 💬Jerry Welbach, a reluctant bagman, has been given two ultimatums: The first is from his mob boss to travel to Mexico and retrieve a priceless antique pistol, known as “the Mexican"… or suffer the consequences. The second is from his girlfriend Samantha to end his association with the mob. Jerry figures alive and in trouble with Samantha is better than the more permanent alternative, so he heads south of the border.
Michael Imperioli ( Christopher Moltisanti)
🎬 River Made to Drown In (1997)
In this movie, he plays Allen Hayden, a struggling artist and ex-prostitute who, in the past, had a romance with Richard Chamberlain. Richard Chamberlain's character comes back and pretty much messes up his current life and relationship.. This film is weird, but I lowkey love it... , Plus, he kisses a man in it so extra points 💬Thaddeus Mackenzie, a wealthy lawyer, learns that he is dying and decides to sell all of his property and visit his old friend Allen Hayden. Allen is a struggling artist with a passion for life who once survived by working the streets, but now is romantically involved with Eva, a wealthy European gallery owner living in L.A. Thaddeus implores Allen to find Jamie, a young street hustler that Thaddeus had once tried to rescue. Allen returns to the streets to face the dark corners of his past where he must choose between what he left behind and the uncertainty that lies ahead.
🎬 Postcards From America(1994)
He plays another gay prostitute in this film 💬Inspired by the autobiographical writings of David Wojnarowicz, “Postcards From America” chronicles the abuse the artist suffered as a child at the hands of his father and his subsequent running away to New York to become a street hustler.
🎬 The Deli (1997)
His entire cameo in this film just features him talking about how he and his friend hooked up with drag queens. paulie walnuts, phil leotardo, pussy n bobby bacala are also in this film too 💬A hard-luck gambler who gets in over his head when he starts putting his store's profits on the line.
Lorraine Bracco (Jennifer Melfi)
🎬 Switch (1991)
She's lesbian with Ellen Barkin in this film and has an on-screen kiss with her 💬Steve Brooks, a sexist womanizer, is killed by a group of his angry former lovers. In heaven, he makes a bargain with God for redemption and agrees to return to Earth. Once there, he must have a sincere relationship with a female and make her fall in love with him. If not, Steve’s soul will become the property of the devil. But the devil hedges his bet, and Steve is reincarnated as a woman named Amanda Brooks.
🎬 Mulaney (2014)
She plays another lesbian in this TV show
Tony Sirico (Paulie Walnuts)
🎬 Mob Queen (1998)
not even quite sure that to call this film it's so strange like i can't believe it's a real thing.. but he does have a 4 second long kiss with richie aprile's actor lmfao but anyway here's the plot: 💬In Brooklyn of the ’50s, small-time mobster George and his sidekick Dip realize they’ve forgotten the birthday of mob boss Joey, so they engage the services of prostitute Glorice. Joey’s reaction to Glorice gives George a promotion, and he’s installed as Joey’s assistant. George makes the discovery that gender-bent Glorice is not exactly a woman after all. The problem gets worse: Joey intends to marry Glorice, who plans to blackmail Joey after the wedding.
He also kisses fucking Gibby from iCarly in Nicky Deuce (2013) but i'm not counting that help
Steve Buscemi (Tony Blundetto)
🎬 Parting Glances (1986)
He plays a gay man with aids, and i found out Michael Imperioli actually loves this film from the Talking Sopranos podcast, i recommend it
💬Michael and Robert, two gay men living in Brooklyn, spend their last day together before Robert leaves for Africa on work assignment. Michael still has feelings for his friend Nick, who has AIDS.
🎬 Love in the Time of Money (2002)
not quite sure what this film is but i do know he kisses a man so there you go 💬New York serves as a backdrop for a cast of characters in search of love, lust or lucre including a woman who makes awkward moves on the man renovating her SoHo loft, an embezzler, a sleazy artist and a phone psychic.
🎬 On The Road (2012)
Can't find any images, but he has a short cameo in this film as a gay man, then has a very explicit scene where he gets railed😭😭😭
Jamie-Lynn Sigler (Meadow Soprano)
🎬 I do (2012)
Not sure what it was about the Sopranos cast in 2012, but she plays a lesbian in this film 💬A gay Brit living in New York is deprived of his immigration status, and risks losing his family and life in the U.S. He marries his lesbian best friend to remain in the country and stay with his family, but things get complicated when he meets the love of his life and is forced to make an impossible choice.
Edie Falco (Carmela Soprano)
🎬 I'll Be Right There (2023)
She plays a divorcee questioning her sexuality
💬Wanda wants to take care of everyone in her life. She barely has time for herself, not that she would know what to do with it anyway.
🎬 Tommy (2020)
Apparently, Edie plays a lesbian cop in this TV show so there you go 💬A former high-ranking NYPD officer becomes the first female Chief of Police in Los Angeles.
David Proval (Richie Aprile)
🎬Four Rooms (1995)
Apart from kissing Tim Roth in this film, I'd rather not describe what his character does and says 💀 wtf 💬It’s Ted the Bellhop’s first night on the job…and the hotel’s very unusual guests are about to place him in some outrageous predicaments. It seems that this evening’s room service is serving up one unbelievable happening after another.
Drea De Matteo (Adriana La Cerva)
🎬Sons of Anarchy (2008)
Haven't watchd this show but someone told me Drea's character turns lesbian
Anyway guys if i missed any please lmkk,, i know steve schirripa mentioned playing a gay cop or something in talking soprano's but i couldn't find anything on it
i think the way breaking bad fans feel about transfem jessie pinkman, i feel this way about transfem chris moltisanti.
woe, pensive trans pride crochet blanket carmela soprano be upon ye
I think every movie regardless of time period or tone should have at least 1 (one) trans person in it. Like at the beginning of The Godfather some Sicilian tgirl should come to Vito and be like “Godfadda, I need money for my breast implants” and Vito should be like “I’ll never forget what you’ve done for this family. I’ll find you the best surgeon in New York”
