Some of the people on this site need to check their fucking racism towards latine people. It's so clear that some of you (including other POC!) see us as POC lite or basically white. Tired of all these fucking acronyms meant to "prioritize" the people who are suffering most excluding latines when I live near the goddamn border and I see the pain and harassment and discrimination. With how american focused this site is you'd think people would be able to at least conceptualize latines as a deeply marginalized class of people with how much discussion of central and south american immigration there is, but no, instead I see takes almost implying we're Priviliged over other POC for this or that reason. It's like people can only conceptualize us in theory, but it's not a theory, we're a people and we're suffering and I am begging people to care. We get worse education, we get worse pay, we are less likely to get jobs or go to college, our labor is exploited across the states with impunity, we are harassed by ICE in our schools and our neighborhoods, fishing to find those undocumented people to detain and deport, our men are demonized and our women fetishized, the latter of which make up a large amount of domestic labor human trafficking victims, our cultures mocked and appropriated, we are viewed as dirty, lazy, uneducated, criminal, and we are used as a scapegoat by a racist government who hates us, but doesnt truly want to get rid of us because this country is relies on the exploitation of our labor. I'm tired of living in one of the poorest, most consistently poorly ranked states (in constant competition with Missouri every year), and getting asked if New Mexico is part of Mexico by people who don't live here, watching as billions get funneled into walls and security and border patrol and ICE which we see, we watch those changes firsthand, while our people suffer under poverty and exploitation. I wonder why funding is like that, perhaps it's impacted by the fact that we're one of the only minority-majority states in the union where latine people outnumber white people.
Dont forget us in your activism, please, we need help, not to be erased because we "dont have it as bad" as other groups in this country. There is room for us and for solidarity, but you have to think about us first.
