Without it they were just as lost as humanity; nothing that would set them above what little the average man had.
But now he was even beneath man, only deriving his power from corrupting souls. And yet, he would say that he was only finding a new way for the unclaimed souls to worship their God. He would help the ones whom he deemed not true believers to turn themselves to life’s simplest of pleasures, letting themselves free to the beautiful nature of acting on instincts and desires, because what beauty is there to life if the needs and wants that were given by the Maker was to be ignored? Weren’t they denying God’s creation as it was made if they didn’t appreciate the lust and greed and wrath that was built in them as they were created? What is more powerful than to appreciate what your God has given you to the fullest extent? It was Yunho’s perspective that there couldn’t be a way to worship more powerful than living every sense of their humanity to the fullest.
But as he was stripped of the servants’ powers after his Fall, he would need to find other ways to seek out the poor unfortunate souls that needed his guidance towards the Lord, which was how he ended up travelling from to neighbourhoods every once in a while when the richer had all been turned where he had stayed. He was still immortal and with that came some perks, even if he had lost many powers that he had relied on earlier. Perks like heightened sensitivity to sounds, which is useful when walking through a bustling farm town, looking for that one weak little soul to latch onto. you sighed. today, of all days, why did everything have to be so difficult?
you took cover under the bus stop as rain began to fall all around you. your lips worked itself into a permanent pout as you pulled out your phone, fingers flying across the screen as you sent a quick text to update intak that you arrived at your meeting spot, and to apologise for being late.
you were meant to go on a date – the first in two weeks. a date to unwind after the exam you’ve been studying and preparing and dreading all week. a date to walk around seoul forest and be one with nature and take in the greenery, the ponds and the birds chirping. a date to spend time and be with your boyfriend, intak.
who, speaking of, was calling your name from across the street.
“y/n!!”
you looked up, and felt your tense shoulders and furrowed eyebrows relax itself upon meeting his eyes. the weight you carried around all day gradually lightened. there he was, your boyfriend, hwang intak – happiness personified, million-watt lopsided smile, umbrella in hand. if he had a tail, you were absolutely sure it’d be wagging excitedly by now.
“hold on!” he shouted before looking both ways and sprinting towards you.
you watched, transfixed, as your happiness spread and unfolded before your very eyes. you couldn’t help but to feel your heart tug and pull you towards him.
“hey,” intak saw you and his excited smile shifted into one of understanding and empathy. he could tell, by your body language and facial expression, that today hadn’t been the best for you.
instead of exchanging greetings, you just hugged him. you wanted to; no, needed to recharge your batteries by being close to him.
intak just smiled quietly while hugging you back. as your boyfriend, he knew that you needed time to soak in the present moment and enjoy being in his embrace. he realised, as you snuggled closer, that he liked the thought of being needed like this.
after a few silent moments, you peeled away and looked up at him.
he looked back expectantly. “better?”
“so much better. i’m all recharged.” you placed a sweet kiss on his cheek and he replied by pressing his soft lips on your forehead. “but the date is ruined.”
“what do you mean?” he followed your line of sight, which was shooting daggers at the grey skies above. “we have an umbrella, y/n.” he chuckled.
“but…”
“c’mon, it’ll be a little uncomfortable, but we’ll have so much fun. trust me! here.” like magic, intak conjured up two cans from his pocket. a hot latte for you, and a can of soymilk for himself. “have this, it’ll warm you up.”
the two of you linked arms and walked around the park. while savouring your warm drinks, you pointed things out to each other. the little things, like how the water droplets gathered on a single petal or leaf, or the buds that were ready and eager to bloom into flowers, or the funny shapes of the puddles, and jumping over said puddles. you both huddled close as a chilly wind blew over you, coaxing the trees into a flamboyant dance and the leaves to rustle in a calming song, accompanied by the gentle pitter-patter of rain on your shared umbrella. you closed your eyes and took a deep breath, letting nature wash away the remnants of your tiring day.
intak couldn’t resist the urge to take photos of you – you standing in the rain, you crouching down to admire the flowerbeds, you chasing the ducks around the pond. inevitably, he got himself wet in the process.
“it’s just a bit of rain.” intak shrugged and shot you his signature smile. he shook the droplets off his hair and sprinkled you with raindrops in the process.
and you know what? he was right. before you met him, you used to be really set in your ways. you were not particularly spontaneous, and would feel uncomfortable if things didn’t go to plan, or worse, if there wasn’t a plan. but since meeting intak, who had a completely different outlook on life, you’ve been exposed to a new perspective. you learned to go with the flow – to let things go, to focus less on the outcome and to just have fun in the process. it was like something inside you shifted.
you found a dry patch under a big tree. using a stick, you began to draw shapes in the dirt. intak quickly caught on, and tried to add his own drawings to yours. the two of you tag teamed, taking turns drawing each stroke of an animal that the other had to guess. you failed miserably, given your lack of artistic skills. the game concluded when intak drew a heart with your names in the centre. it was so cheesy, and it made you feel like the main character’s love interest in a high school romcom, but you loved it.
intak didn’t mind being a huge cheeseball, as long as it meant he got to see that pretty smile of yours. yes, definitely worth it, he decided as you leaned in for a kiss that tasted like a mix of coffee and soymilk– a perfect combination, he thought. after all, the boy is in love with you.
“shall we get lunch?” he asked.
“yes, but i’m craving pancakes. kimchi pancakes, vegetable pancakes… and makgeolli.”
intak shot you a knowing smile. the initial plan was to try this new viral pasta restaurant close by. that was the reason why you met near seoul forest in the first place.
but it just wasn’t the right weather for pasta – it was raining, and the only correct answer for what to eat on a rainy day in korea is pancakes and makgeolli. the sound of oil splashing and splattering when frying the pancakes, or jeon, resembled the sound of raindrops.
intak was happy because he knew you were becoming more open to trying things, and learning to adapt. he felt his chest blossom with pride.
wrote this bc i have been craving for some junseo softness and i think that it's a crime that there isn't more of it. also because i have that one moment of sleepy junseo with no shirt on seared into my brain, so that was the inspiration ig (also pls this is so self-indulgent)

Junseo knew it would have to be a day of hell for you. Not only did you have your job that you, of course, had to do, and do well, but you were also in the middle of moving out of your apartment and into a new place. He had tried to come over more to help you pack, and you were grateful for the times that he had helped you, but he had his own schedule that was tightly packed and unfortunately didn’t have the most time to help out, much to his dismay.
One day he had managed to carve out a whole evening for you. Giddy, he picked up the flowers and the takeout he had planned to bring with him, knowing that you didn’t leave yourself much time to eat and your meals had mostly been cups of ramen. He smiled down at the plastic bag hanging from where he held onto the handles; he could smell the amazing food as he walked to the apartment that was still yours for a few days. He was wearing his black bucket hat and a facemask, as DKB was finally garnering some attention after Peak Time was aired and he had experienced more frequent times of being stopped on the street for an autograph or a selca, and as much as he loved his fans’ support, that day he just wanted to go straight to his love to help out with something as mundane as packing things in boxes and eating good food out of containers.
When he got there, he knocked, as he usually did, but as you sometimes did, the knocks were ignored. He chuckled to himself, thinking that you were probably just zooming around with headphones on and couldn’t hear him; it wouldn’t have been the first time that would happen, so he did what he had permission to do; he went to your mailbox and searched for the little nook in it where you hid your keys. You had a bad habit of forgetting your housekeys either at Junseo’s dorm or in your personal desk at work, so you decided that it would be good to have a backup plan for when that would happen, which you had told Junseo to take advantage of whenever he wanted to, since you trusted him with your home, even if you weren’t there with him.
He snatched the keys from where you’d hung them inside the mailbox and unlocked your front door, opening it casually like he would usually, thinking you’d hear that and come running to the front door to see him. But not this time; this time the apartment was silent. Junseo’s brows furrowed, worry invading his thoughts. You should’ve been off of work by then and you had said you were way too busy packing to go out with your friends at the time being, so why was your home so quiet that he was feeling as if he was doing something disruptive just by rustling a plastic bag? He toed off his shoes quickly and moved in to put the food and flowers in the, mostly empty, kitchen, walking swiftly into the bigger space. He stopped in his tracks and felt a smile creep onto his face as he saw your form lying on your couch. Your hair was wild as if you had literally just thrown yourself onto the cushions, with no regard to your hair possibly falling onto your face, which he wouldn’t be surprised if that was how it went down.
He looked you over; you had your big dress shirt on, something he loved about your style. When you got the job as a middle school teacher, you wanted to portray yourself as more professional but didn’t want to lose your personal style in that, and so your brilliant idea was to bring some of your love for street style/casual wear, with the oversized tees and huge jeans, was to buy oversized dress shirts, something Junseo had quipped at, mentioning that they were probably his size. You also had your tight slacks on, which looked considerably less comfortable than the shirt. Analysing the place, he could see that you had already devoured the cup noodle you were relying on for sustenance, and so was probably not that hungry. He quickly went out to put the food he’d brought into the fridge, always available to heat up later, and fill a big cup you’d sometimes use as a vase with water and a little sugar and put the flowers in there too, to make them at least look just as fresh when you’d wake up.
After making sure that the front door was locked and all the unnecessary lights in the apartment were off, he scooped you up with ease and walked you to your bed, making sure to put you down on your mattress as gently as possible, as to not wake you up from your needed sleep. He undid and slipped off your slacks but kept the dress shirt on you so that you could be comfortable, but also while making a mental note to wear more dress shirts himself, liking the idea of you borrowing them to lounge around in like this. When he had tucked you in, he went out into the kitchen again. He had come over to help you pack, and he still felt too energised to knock out with you, so he ventured into your kitchen again. You had specifically asked him to help you with the kitchen wares, feeling much better about there being an extra person there to help you handle the fragile glass and such, so without making too much noise, he wrapped up your plates and glass and packed them neatly in the box you had set out for it. One thing less for you to worry about when you woke up the morning after.
After getting the kitchen stuff packed it was an hour later and Junseo could feel his day catch up to him, exhaustion settling into his body. Pulling off his shirt but keeping his sweatpants on, he slipped into the bed beside you, softly wrapping his arms around you, humming to himself as he could feel your familiar warmth against him. He had always thought that you were made for him; you fit perfectly into his arms, into his heart and into his life, and he wished that he had more time to spoil you like he wanted to, but instead, he got moments like these, and well, he could never complain about that. He soon fell asleep, always finding it easier to do so when he had you safe and sound in his arms.
You woke up first the next morning as you had been the one to pass out first, feeling warm and content. You opened your eyes slowly so as to not blind yourself from the light coming from the window but found something casting a shadow over you from said light. You knew exactly who it was, even if the logical part of your brain that said that he’s the only one who it could possibly be hadn’t even woken up, you were sure; that was your Junseo lying with you. You could tell especially from the form of his body’s silhouette and from the arms wrapped around you, and then you could smell the lingering of his cologne mixing with his natural Junseo-smell that you adored so much. You nuzzled your face further into his body, taking in the fact that he was there and seizing the opportunity to enjoy every single second of it. You took your chance to place a few kisses on his broad chest, being the place where you could reach while being in his arms, wrapping an arm around him as well, giggling a little when you could feel his arms tighten around you. You had had a few mornings like these in the time of dating him and you knew all the right buttons to press by now to get Junseo to wake up the gentlest (with some help from his group mates who learned the hard way). You let your fingers travel up and down the expanse of his back, your nails dragging lightly, and you began talking to him softly, only stopping to place another kiss on his warm skin.
“Good morning, my love. Thank you for coming over and for caring for me like this. You're really special; I have no idea how I got so lucky as to get to be with you.” You were about to go on, knowing that Junseo loved waking up to the sound of your voice speaking to him, but it seemed as if it had worked a lot quicker than you had anticipated this time; “I’m the lucky one here,” Junseo grumbled, his morning voice hoarse and, not that he’d ever agree that it was; cute. A smile spread on your lips, blinking up at him with all the love you could muster. “Agree to disagree.” You kissed his chest again and felt one of his hands come up to brush your hair out of your face, looking down at you with a sleepy smile. “When did you come over last night? I don’t remember letting you in.” You questioned and he groaned, digging for the memories in his still sleep-hazy mind. “I think it was around 7:30 or 8 pm? You were knocked out on the couch when I got here.” You took in the words said in his raspy voice. “Sorry about that, I don’t know what happened,” you said in a light-hearted tone. He smiled down at you and loosened his arms around you to stretch them and give you some of your space back. “What happened was that those kids you love teaching so dearly are energy vampires,” he whined and leaned down to nuzzle his face into the crook of your neck. You laughed at his words; “energy vampires?!” He nodded and you could feel him pout against your skin. “Yeah, and when I finally get to have you all to myself, you’re sucked energy-dry!” You laughed even harder and brought your arms up to hug his head even closer to your body. “Oh no, I am so sorry, honey! You know I’m a sucker for those small creatures,” your puns just made him groan even more and suddenly he was escaping from your embrace with you giggling and fighting to keep him hugged to your body. “No, let me go! You're awful for punning me when I've just woken up.” He finally broke free and swung his legs over the edge of the bed. You ended up hugging around his waist, smiling up at him as he looked down at you, your head peeking just around his body.
“You know I’m gonna hold on and be dragged after you if you try to walk away,” you had a certain tone when you told him so, making him think that you were absolutely not bluffing but also knew that he wouldn’t do that to you. What you didn’t know was that he had woken up with an abundance of energy, ready to deal with your silly attitude. With one swift motion, he somehow grabbed a hold under your arms and lifted you up while turning you in the air, placing you over his shoulder, all the while standing up from the bed, making you yelp out in surprise. You knew he was strong and that your weight was really not a big deal to him, but it still surprised you when he just did stuff like that. He walked and spun around with you on his back, mostly to hear your squeals and giggles, only to grab you and throw you onto the bed again, making sure not to throw you far enough so that your head would hit the headboard, throwing himself on top of you, snaking an arm around your body again, to hold you close, while using the other arm to hold himself up. As your giggles died down, the two of you just looked at one another, smiles growing softly on both sets of lips. Junseo leaned down slowly and tenderly placed his soft lips on yours, kissing you properly for the first time since he’d seen you this time. The kiss was delicate and infused with love and went on until the both of you were lightheaded, and by the time you’d separated, there were ten fingers in some hair, four cheeks red with heat and two foreheads touching each other.
The first one to utter any words was Junseo; “let’s just melt into the sheets together for a little bit more.” And you had no objections whatsoever.
A/N: i know that some details or behaviours of the reader were probably oddly specific but as i said before; this was incredibly self-indulgent. when i started writing this i was in the middle of moving out and was so stressed out so this was written with myself in mind a bunch. but i hope whoever reads this enjoys it also! (i am now putting the finishing touches on it in my new apartment on a makeshift bed on the floor so there you go lmao)

of course he shares the job with dongil, which he is so grateful for, since dongil is the best at keeping the kids entertained
but when he sees you show up in the background, he forgets everything about being professional right then and there
you can see his face light up from the serious and beautiful expression he has on as he does his part in the video
you giggle as he sprints over to you and lifts you into his arms, holding you close as he spins you around
he's laughing, you're laughing, some of the members are giggling in the background
the only ones who aren't laughing are the staff who had to pause because of this little interruption

he's serious when he needs to be
but when the camera cuts for a new take or a change on set
his cute and goofy nature turns on
when he has a break in shooting, either from the crew needing to change some things or another member having to do solo shots, he usually goes and hangs out with some of the members
or do stretches slash rehearsing for something coming up in the shoot
but dongil thought up a devious little plan
(devious in the way that isn't devious at all, but the scheming and sneaking around makes it feel like it is)
he has been messaging with you, figuring out when was the best time for you to come and surprise your boyfriend
so when you arrive, you're hurried into a spare room and told the game plan, dongil ending it with a "fighting"
you remember thinking that he's having way too much fun with this but that thought went away as soon as you saw seongsik
you looked back, getting a thumbs up from dongil and then sneaking up behind your boyfriend
you quickly jumped onto his back and put your hands over his eyes, trying your hardest to hold in your giggles
"wonnie, not again!" seongsik whined, thinking you were dongil
apparently, the schemer had done this all day to prepare to surprise your boyfriend as much as possible
you both let him struggle a bit before dongil called out from the other side of the room; "i'm not doing anything!"
with that seongsik stilled and slowly put his hands over yours
as soon as his vision was freed and he could take a look at you, he squealed with excitement
after that, the shoot went pretty much like it had, only now seongsik hung out with you in the breaks
and turns up his cuteness for you (who's behind the camera), waving to you every time he gets a chance

as one of the leaders, dongil tries his best to be one of the least troublesome on-set
but of course, dongil is gonna be his silly self
and every time the time calls for it, he pulls a goofy face or does something funny

but when he said it wouldn't be a good idea for the nth time for you to come around and watch one of their practices, you had confessed that it made you feel like he was ashamed of you
which absolutely broke his heart
he tried telling you that it was because he wouldn't want to stay away from you, but you didn't seem convinced
so he folded and invited you to come see him at the music video shoot
he said to come at a specific time, when there wasn't much left, mostly filler shots of them walking or sitting around
he thought that would be the easiest to handle
but alas
when he was supposed to look all stoic and idol-y, his eyes drifted over to you, bringing a smile to his face
he mentally slapped himself every time they had to call for another take, knowing the makeup team would be on his ass if he messed up their work, but no

you always grew worried for him during this time, wondering if he was eating and sleeping
and gwanghyun knew so, so when you asked him if you could have lunch with him, he kissed your cheek and accepted with a smile
the others knew that he preferred to spending a little quiet time with you and therefore stayed away until they had to call him back

You had come home from the longest day at work of your life. You were exhausted, irritated and just plain grumpy and in a bad mood. The only thing that lifted your spirit was the fact that your lovely boyfriend, Seonghwa, was waiting for you at your apartment. The two of you had dated for a few months, and with his busy schedule, it hadn’t made sense to move in together, him spending his time partly at his group’s dorm whenever he was in the country, which wasn’t a lot, sadly. He tried his best to be there with you when he was home though, spoiling you rotten with his sweet attention whenever he could. But of course, you knew he had off-days too. That day had apparently been one of them, as you could feel the second that he greeted you.
“Welcome home, my love.” His tone was soft and inviting, lulling you into a state of much-needed comfort. You let out a hum and softly crashed into his chest, his scent enveloping you, the scent of home. You felt his hand come up and stroke your hair, your curls wild, reflecting the day you’d had. He let his fingers run through your soft curls, easily undoing any small knots that had found their way to your hair. You sighed and dropped your shoulders, leaning further into your boyfriend’s form.
The both of you stood there for a while before he placed a small kiss on your forehead, breaking the small bubble that had built around you. “I had something planned for tonight, but I'd get it if you aren’t up for it,” you shook your head. You loved all of Seonghwa’s plans, they always managed to lift your spirit and bring warmth, happiness and a sense of belonging to your soul. “Please, Hwa, I’d love whatever you had planned.” You looked up at him and saw his eyes shine for a split second before a smile spread over his gorgeous lips. You found yourself staring at them, reminded that you hadn’t even kissed him yet; “I want a kiss first, though,” you pouted, and he chuckled lightly, leaning down to gently place his lips on yours, pouring every bit of love he had reserved for you into the connection. He pecks your lips a few times after, leaving you satisfied with the affection for the time being.
He grabbed your hand, looking down at it as he intertwined his fingers with yours, loving the feeling of your warmth and his becoming one, and then started pulling you along to your living room where he had lit a sea of candles, some of them scented if your nose wasn’t playing tricks on you, though the same scent, thankfully. There had to be over two dozen candles, they lit up the entire room in a warm glow that cocooned you in serenity. You looked up at Seonghwa, who had his eyes trained on you the entire time, taking in every little way your face changed with every little piece of happiness you found in his display. His lips spread wider in a more pronounced smile, and he took a small step towards the coffee table where he had two boxes of LEGO flowers ready. Your face broke into an expression of pure happiness and excitement, and you took his hand again when he reached out for you, helping you down to sit on the soft and fluffy rug that was just beside the coffee table.
You couldn’t help but think that you hadn’t ever known peace like you had, sitting on the floor in silence as you and your lovely boyfriend were building your own little LEGO set of flowers, only giggles disturbing the comfortable silence as you saw when each other were struggling to fit or even find a piece on the rug, helping one another out with the search for whatever was needed.
Seonghwa was the first to finish, as you had expected him to. It wasn’t that he was better or that you didn’t like to build LEGO sets, but he simply had more practice with the mechanics of building sets than you had, absolutely geeking out about LEGO, which made it that much more special when he wanted to build something with you, letting you into his little world of wonder, trusting you with his childlike joy for creating. He took your non-dominant hand and started kissing the back of it, until you, in a fit of giggles, had to tell him that you needed both of your hands to finish building the flowers, only then letting you go to let you continue building as he burrowed his head into the crook of your neck instead.
When you were finally finished, you held the flowers up for him to inspect and he held up his own flowers and brought them to yours, like you were holding glasses and was cheers-ing with them, which brought you both into a fit of laughter. While you were recovering, hand on your stomach, he was retrieving a glass vase, putting his own flowers in there on display, leaning down with the vase in hand for you to let your own creation join his, together where they belong.
You had expected him to walk away to put the vase down on a table somewhere in your apartment, but he just looked you in your eyes with the sincerest look he had given you all evening; “the day these flowers wilt is the day my love for you is no more.”
