âOh my god! Iâm so sorry!â
These were the first words that Anna told him when she accidentally hit his car from behind. She was young then, causing an accident on the very same day she got her license. Her long hair looking like a mess as the air blew. It wasnât even dark, the sun was out and yet she still made a mistake by bumping the back of his car.Â
She was sure that the driver wouldnât even consider her a celebrity just because she was part of the national team. Her thoughts were a mess just as the cars behind them that has been honking at her and making her feel more anxious and she was ready to be scolded, reported to the police even.
But even when she closes her eyes, she can still remember how handsome he was. He was mad, yes he was. Yet there she was, stunned by how good looking he was despite getting mad at her mistake. She bowed quite a lot as she asked for forgiveness.
âI..I-Iâll pay for the damages, I swear! Y-You can give me your number and Iâll get back to you!â Raising her left hand instead of her right, changing it to her right hand only after she noticed her mistake. âIâm sorry! I just got my license and.. I really didnât mean to scratch your car.â Her fingers then were over her lips as she nervously started biting on her nails. She didnât even notice the bump on her own white Kia Optima because she was more worried about his car. It looked expensive and she was sure that her parents will kill her for causing an accident as soon as she got to drive her new car.
Little did she know that he was going to be more than just a small accident in her life. It wasnât a hit and run, yet it felt that way years and years later. As she opened her eyes, it was already morning and she canât help but feel sad. âAnother dream.. why does it always have to be him?â She mumbled quietly, trying to ignore the fact that even up to this day, she misses him.
Maybe one day sheâll learn.. not to miss him. But that day didnât seem to be today.
a finger that tapped mundanely against the surface of his steering wheel, traffic was oddly gross today, not thinking of where he was, he took a turn that would inevitably lead him to the same spot he had told a specific girl that he couldnât do it anymore.Â
his car stopping against the curb, hopping out from his r8 and walking around to the rear of his vehicle, only to sit beside it, along the curb. traffic was gross, and what more, his impatience couldnât be held in much longer. cliffside. thatâs where he was, situated outside, chaerinâs number visible on his phone screen now, and he was hesitant in calling her out, he was afraid she was going to hide from him and ignore him, like she had always. and he freezes for a moment, locking his phone and putting it away in his pocket. he was completely oblivious that she had lived here too.Â
a hand came up to gently pat at the mark on his r8, battle scars that left memories indented into his lover forever, or until he wanted to get it fixed. but of course, he preferred to have the dent there, as evidence that he too, at one point did value someone more than his car.Â
and he remembers it so vividly, so clearly, so intensely that he wouldâve sworn it had all happened just yesterday. a young driver, reckless almost, rammed at his rear, and the marks were there to prove it. his almost two hundred grand vehicle, his baby and life, his wife to be and child, his everything ââ was hurt. and the one responsible was no other than the girl he had years later broken.
his back facing the complex, a sigh leaving him.
a part of him misses her, but a part wished he really didnât. and his mind kept returning to hyoji, despite his feelings were real, anna had always been in the back of his mind. the girl he had been with for the past year, and he had thought hyoji was the one, only to also abandon her because he was afraid. the same feeling he felt when he had left his brother at fourteen. the same fear, that runs through his body, the veins that pump that poisonous red throughout his entirety only to be drowned out by the sound of silence, and he was afraid more than anything to keep something he loved by his side, only to hurt them. and he let them all go.Â
he was a man of great ethics, yet his ethics never kept up to his morals, he was but a simple man, a man of great pleasure and a man of even greater things. yet his past has always lingered by his shoulder and threatened to take everything away from him.
and she, was one of them.Â
without checking, the phone was in his hand, and he decided to call for chaerin. not exactly checking for the right number but he had expected the familiarity of her voice to accomodate him as he rung.
âhey, chaerin.â
âiâm outside, are you busy?â
silence peeked, and he brought his phone down to check why, and chaerin wasnât the name he saw dialled.Â
âoh, sorry. wrong number.â
