“Ah but green tea is really good, specially if it’s made by you, so maybe after we play and after you pay for drinks, we can change to herbs and make sure to detox our bodies from all the alcohol you’ll buy” He told her with a chuckle, reminding her that this bet would be her loss. “I know right, I should change my profession and become a soccer coach, you know, then become famous and be hired to train some fancy team in Europe. You’d miss me, of course, but I would fly you there and introduce you to Messi” He joked, a plan that was definitely not in his mind. Being a firefighter was his life and he wouldn’t change it for anything in the entire world.
“Maybe I have. I don’t know, I mean, my life is not changing, is it?” His life was still the same, he just was acting weird around Mirae but that didn’t mean anything, did it? “Ah, she’s not a one night stand” She was much more than that, their past had a weight on his heart that no one had ever came close to, so maybe she would be the one that… Shin shook his head, wanting to get rid of those thoughts. “I’m not made for a girlfriend. You know a fire will kill me eventually and then what? Why would I make someone go through all of that?” He asked her, shaking his head. “No, no, I think it will be good for you to kick and try to score, you know, so you practice your control over the ball, or maybe we could just do some passes, try practice that first” He offered. “What about you? Is there any boyfriend around? Anyone I need to scare? Kick? Punch? Make his body disappear?”
“Of course, I make the best green tea,” she said, although really, it wasn’t that hard to make. Anyone could do it but if Shin was going to compliment her on it, then she would definitely take it and praise herself too. She deserved to do that for herself. At the mention of her buy drinks, all she could do was scoff. That much seemed obvious already. “No need to rub it in oppa,” she grumbled, kicking the ball lightly from side to side in front of her. “What will you do if I end up winning, huh? If you keep talking like that karma might decide they want to teach you a lesson and let me win,” she said, but the threat was an empty one and she knew luck wouldn’t be on her side. “Aigoo, of course I’d miss you. You should just hire me as a personal assistant and I’ll follow you around. I can make a webtoon based on you and your travels.”
Chaerin shrugged. “I don’t know, that’s a question only you can answer,” she said. “But the reality is that everyone changes, even if we don’t see it, right? So maybe your life did change, you just...haven’t realized it yet.” Chaerin looked at him as she spoke, as though the changes that had taken place were written all over him but of course, she wasn’t even sure what would have been going on in his life. “She isn’t? Then...isn’t that a good thing? Isn’t that something to follow up on?” she asked. A part of her was curious as to who it was, but she figured if he wanted to tell her, he would have already. “If you think that way then of course not but like I said before, things change, people too so who knows? Maybe you’ll be boyfriend material if that’s what you want,” she shrugged. At his suggestion, she paused for a moment before nodding. Practicing would probably be better if she had any hopes of beating Shin, let alone score against him. “Okay, lets do that then,” she agreed.
“A boyfriend? No, no, no. No boyfriend. Not now, not ever,” she said, perhaps getting a little defensive about it. “...But...but I did like someone...I mean, I do but...I confessed and they didn’t feel the same way so...there’s that,” she shrugged, but in all honesty, that was the least of her worries and problems given Cheonsa was back now too. “But it is what it is. I’m over it, I just need the time to heal me now so no need for you to waste your efforts and get your hands dirty.”
