i just finished watching the Strangers（yeah i have been staying up untill now！is nearly 7:30 am in my timezone）and i don't think it's as bad as the people said on Douban（similar to IMDB）. Personally, I think It's a pretty good series. The filming places were stunning, and plot was quite memorable. Hearing the characters speak Cantonese gave me a sense of familiarity and warmth,i have to say that. Which shows that the team really put their heart into it. And as far as i know, when ITV was promoting this series, they even produced a full Chinese language newspaper to distribute in UK. Plus, i really enjoy seeing John and Anthony Wong together, tbh i felt David Chen's death and his case were handled a bit too carelessly, i not sure if they were rushing the storyline in the final episode or what.

Just watching the Strangers right now cuz I'm gonna to Tian Tan Buddha the day after tomorrow with my friends and I want to take some pictures there.（maybe this is my excuse to watch Strangers in advance, sorry The Lakes 2, you need to wait. lol）

I’ve just finished The Lakes S1. What a brilliant series! First, allow me to have a quick throwback to my reaction of episode 1 : It was so impressive to me, I would say it perfectly told the audience the characters’ information, story background and twisted relationships in this place.

Then the last episode. When I saw Danny breakdown as the verdict was announced, I couldn’t help but cry along with him. What a such powerful and infectious performance that John has made. Just in that moment, all the misunderstandings and humiliations he had suffered throughout the experience were finally released. And the ending song’s lyrics 「Only you can save you—never let them break you」 seems like words that resonate with what Danny has endured.

I have to say, I really love the soundtrack, they got songs from David Bowie, Blur and Radiohead and more.

Episode3⋯⋯poor danny. I got the overwhelming sense of helplessness that i couldn't reach my hands through the screen.（sorry i was so angry, i wanna slap Lucy in the face, and the others too. i mean those related people who act like it's none of their business.😬）

Finally finished my busy FYP presentations.💀✌️I'm watching the rest of the episodes of The Lakes S1 now. What a heartbreaking scene.（the picture）There’s a subtle detail in the series that heightens the tension or captures the character's internal conflict, which is a rhythmic, heartbeat-like sound effect I guess. For example, in Episode 1, when Danny spots the wallet on the table. The sound underscores his inner turmoil as he tries to resist his gambling impulses, though he eventually gives in and takes the cash.
