rose: you're right. I probably should have avoided searching us up, but I wanted to see what Blinks thought about our final performance.
jennie: wow, i love learning things about myself through articles. jennie: people love to cause unnecessary drama and stir up problems. i swear they give me a headache.
it was no secret the idol industry was constricting in its own way; you couldn't look at someone of the opposite sex without dating rumors swirling around, you couldn't peacefully co-exist with other idols because people were always comparing, and heaven forbid an idol decided to do something that was outside of the industry norm. what was considered normal anywhere else was quick to stir up controversy in the business. nayeon often wished certain things could be considered less trouble within the industry, but she never thought about distancing herself from those she was closest to. that was why nayeon felt hurt once she realized jennie began to pull away from her in favor of her newer friends. but life happens, right? maybe, just maybe it could be water under the bridge now that some time has passed, she thought.
she couldn't have been more wrong. nayeon furrowed her eyebrows as she tied up her balloon, her eyes momentarily glancing in jennie's direction while she grabbed one of the pieces of string. any tension she tried her best to keep hidden was suddenly bubbling up to the surface. nayeon was someone that usually let unpleasant comments slide, but when it came to taehyung things were a bit different. perhaps it was because of the protective nature that developed when they first began dating and were hiding their relationship from the world, or maybe it was just the fact that it was jennie and things were already on thin ice. "what's that supposed to mean?" nayeon asked, a hint of defensiveness laced in her voice as she tied her balloon. "are you saying he doesn't deserve them?"
jennie assumed the heat would eventually cool down. that the chances of her and nayeon being friends could be a possibility, but that percentage seemed to shrink as time passed, then almost disappear out of her reach once she heard that her used to be best friend was now dating her ex. the relationship that still gave her a sour taste in her mouth when she thought about it too long. maybe, that feeling would go away with time, too. too hopeful, too optimistic was jennie’s achilles heel. anybody with a set of eyes could have told her that it was a far reach, and to start looking forward instead of pining for the past. the emotion stirred as she looked at nayeon for a brief moment then had the realization that maybe nayeon didn’t miss her like the way jennie missed her. that maybe that was just a child’s dream to reunite and salvage whatever was left of their friendship. the thought brought water to her eyes, and she was thankful that the balloons were serving their purpose by giving the girls a distraction. it gave her enough time to gather her thoughts until her eyes went back to normal without a single tear drop.
clearly she put her foot in her mouth way too soon. jennie would be kicking herself later once she returned to her cabin and thought about the words that came out of her mouth. all she had to do was hang on for a few minutes. to play nice, and all of the other encouraging words that namjoon told her. she should have apologized and slid away before things got worse, but she was too far gone, and was in too deep. her nervous scoff got mixed with an accidental laugh once she opened her mouth again. “you really think he deserves these balloons?” but it was much more than the balloons. it didn’t help that jennie and taehyung had a nasty conversation just a couple of days prior, making her more snarky. “or all of this that you’re throwing him? it’s ridiculous.” she mumbled under her breath.

nayeon was well aware of the comparisons people made when it came to her and jennie–it was something she tried often to ignore but sometimes caught a glimpse of in the comments of a photo she posted, or in an article that just so happened to include the two of them. initially, they bothered her so much that she would let her staff take over posting for her just so she wouldn't have to see them.. but what hurt her worse was when she realized jennie stopped coming around as often, or when she noticed how the younger idol would text and call less and less. at first her optimism convinced her that jennie had simply become busier as blackpink's career began to take off, but once nayeon started to realize the friend she knew was beginning to turn into someone she could barely recognize, she helplessly accepted the new reality. the irony of the circumstances that reunited them would have been hilarious if there wasn't so much awkwardness, and maybe underlying tension that nayeon did her best to keep hidden. she wasn't necessarily holding onto a grudge, but she would have been lying if she said that she wasn't still hurt by feeling replaced by her former sister. the thoughts remained pushed away as nayeon began to inflate a balloon and hum lightly in acknowledgment of jennie's words. "thank you," she replied, turning the pump off once the balloon blew up to the perfect size. "and i hope so. taehyung worked hard on his album and i just want him to know how proud everyone is of him." nayeon smiled slightly to herself as she thought of her boyfriend and shook her head. "but for now, i'll probably end up internally panicking until everything's all set." in any normal circumstance, nayeon would have extended an invitation to the party to jennie, however she was aware enough to know that would've a weird suggestion for all three of them.
jennie wished she lived in a different reality. one that accepted the friends she chose along with any significant others she picked up along the way. it still shocked her to see how strict things were when the western world had normalized costars to date or rivals as friends without so much as blinking an eye. she often wondered if that was the reason why she was more drawn to those countries when touring or traveling for pleasure. things were far more normal instead of having to ignore those who she considered her closest friends. little did she know that she, too, was being fake by surrounding herself around those that often used her for content. it was her sad reality that she struggled to wake up from.
the younger idol nodded to nayeon thanking her instead of finding the courage to say more. she was already treading awkward waves enough to tell her that inflating balloons was the least she could do. all of the favors that nayeon did for her and the kindness that the older woman showed her should be enough to set their differences aside, and begin from ground zero. the words almost left her throat when she heard that name. that bitter side of jennie suddenly rose that she couldn’t shake it off no matter how much she tried. “hmph,” she let a heavy sigh at the praise towards her ex-boyfriend, not caring that now nayeon was dating him. “yeah, because he really needs to get rewarded with balloons.” her sarcasm tone was too obvious to be shown as sincere, but jennie busied herself with the next balloon.

it wasn’t a surprise that jennie and lisa were hanging out in the living room of the cabin. most of the others had checked in earlier in the night, leaving the girls behind to their casual chit chat. one would think that the girls didn’t hang out often by how much they were talking. jennie thought of every tour or show with her girls brought them closer together. she thought of it as another memory that she would think back on when retired from this lifestyle. jennie had finished doing their mixed drinks when she came back to the couch to join lisa. the rapper joined the other by sitting next to her when the rest of the sofa was available. the closer, the better, she figured. “okay, this one, i found the recipe on tiktok. we’ll see how good it is.” she said with a cheery voice. she made no attempts in lowering her voice knowing that the others were probably sleeping in their rooms. “the gummy worms are what drew me to the drink. it looks so yummy. okay, let’s try it.” jennie tapped the edge of her glass with lisa’s before she took a sip. “yum! super sweet!” jennie exclaimed.
one of the toughest parts of being an idol was trying to find a balance between schedules and life outside of the career. in the beginning, dahyun found the task pretty easy. sure, twice had been busy from the start, but it wasn't until some time after their debut that things began to pick up steam. only then did she find herself trying to figure out how she could manage life in both aspects. luckily, things got to be a bit easier as time went on. "oh no, did you leave scratches?" a chuckle left dahyun's lips once she heard jennie's, and she nodded. "mhm, after that i wiped my hands of scary movies. i figured as much, especially when it feels like i see ads for the same movies under different names on tv all the time." dahyun gave jennie an empathetic nod as she listened, her hands slipping comfortably into her pockets. "jeju is always best before rainy season, we have more places to relax in," she started, her own smile appearing. "you deserve the time off. i always tell chaeyoung unnie that you guys are long overdue for a break. coachella and a world tour? not many people can pull that off. it's usually one or the other." dahyun could still remember her excited call to rosé shortly after blackpink's first performance at coachella. the feelings of pride and happiness for her four friends were strong then, and they still were as she spoke to jennie. "i'm enjoying a break now, but that'll be over the moment we return to seoul," dahyun admitted, "we have about 16 more shows left, and that's only if the tour manager decides not to add new ones."
what jennie had enjoyed from this trip was how easily she was slipping into conversations with older friends. blackpink’s world tour had pulled her away from the majority of her friends in seoul. what jennie didn’t realize was that she had been pulling away from her seoul friends for what seemed like the last few years now that the girls had dipped their feet more onto american soil. now that she was back home, all she wanted to do was see old faces that were once great friends. “only a few,” she said timidly. she took no joy in scratching anybody, but her nerves sparked a reaction that she didn’t expect, and it accidentally came in the form of scratching up the poor guy. “scary ads usually like to come on at night. it used to pop up all of the time before i got youtube premium, but it still comes on my tiktok ads. i wish i could put a setting on the app to leave me alone to my animal videos.”
a warm smile rested on jennie’s face, and she gave a small and thankful nod to dahyun. “it’s been a crazy year, but it’s also been very rewarding being with my girls,” there had been lots of work piled up. none of it was surprising seeing how long they took their break for, but still, jennie was growing tired with every show that came their way. “you too?” her brows rose at the similarities that they shared with their companies tossing more shows than they signed up for. “tour managers love to pile more on when you think that you’re close to finishing, don’t they? we’re going to have a few shows left before we finally wrap the tour, but i try not to hold my breath since they got into a frenzy of adding more. are you going to be traveling far for the remaining shows?” jennie knew the toll that it took to jump on a plane for hours, rest shortly before they were back on the stage before having to repeat the same pattern. “it makes it rough to maintain all of your friendships here, doesn’t it?” she said while keeping her eyes on the ground.
hyunwoo leaned into the chill side of his personality most of the time. zen was what he had to often practice when he went into the military. not so much because he grew angry or had discomfort, but because he often worried for his members. wondered if they were dealing well without him or got enough sleep or practiced hard enough. though, he believed they would be successful, he still couldn’t help but to think about them often. because of that, he learned to figure out ways to channel his emotions from getting out of place. hence his lack of being upset of jennie reacting to being surprised.
“you’re fine. i’m assuming that everyone is exhausted from the traveling around, and we’re all catching up from working hard.” hyunwoo included. he had been dealing with some of that tiredness as well since he and hyungwon had begun to perform and attend shows. “you’re not a fan of the fall season? i think i prefer the rain. it gives me an excuse to get snuggled into the blankets.” he said with a smile. “i usually wake up early. you get into a strict schedule when you’re in the military, so your days of sleeping in don’t exist except for the weekends. it’s not so bad. i learned to embrace the morning.” he answered. “do you want company during your walk? i can make sure to keep the dangerous animals away.”
when jennie met hyunwoo, she figured that he must not like her based on how quiet he was. there wasn’t much conversation that was held before they parted ways. as the time went by, jennie realized that it was his personality to be so calming. after years of knowing the monsta x leader, she was used to his chill persona. one that she could feel more comfortable with instead of making weird conversations until they parted ways.
“i think the majority of all of us are in the middle of releasing new music or touring.” it was that time of the year, jennie thought. majority of groups were at their busiest it seemed like. she knew that hyunwoo along with his member were currently traveling to shows and they were still trying to release new content. “not entirely? i mostly like the summer. just not summer here in korea,” she included. she had been used to the warm weather of new zealand. “it’s the humidity that i don’t like.” jennie wanted to be sure about including the rest of the sentence before hyunwoo believed that she hated their country. “that would be lovely.” she happily agreed into having company. “i kept thinking about wild cats jumping out at me when i first started to walk, but i didn’t want to run in case they began to chase me.”

when nayeon's relationship with taehyung first began, she contemplated calling jennie and explaining herself—to let her know that she genuinely fell for him and in no way wanted to hurt or anger her, or ruin their friendship—but then nayeon came to the sudden realization that she couldn't really tell if she and jennie were even friends anymore by that point. the sisterly bond that developed during their days as young trainees with big ambitions managed to last even after they became idols until it just.... didn't. nayeon could remember it all clearly; the pain of losing a friend, a sister. it was one she didn't ever want to experience, let alone with the one person she expected to be lifelong friends with, but it happened and she was here now.
and boy, was it harder than she thought. nayeon almost felt like she was meeting someone new, and a part of her wanted to retreat into her own world where all she had to focus on was getting everything ready for taehyung's party. "perfect!" she replied, returning jennie's smile with a half one of her own. the enthusiasm in her voice was a stark contrast to the amount of tricky emotions she was going through internally. "okay then, i'll just work on these until it's time to get more string." she carefully opened up the first pack of gold balloons and laid some out on the table before humming lightly at jennie's compliment. "ah, thank you. i wanted to make things equally fun and sophisticated. it was either purple and gold or gold and black, but that seemed too formal."
while jennie tried to stay clear from the online posts; she couldn’t help but accidentally read a few. that was her first mistake, reading what others put online instead of turning the other cheek. hurtful comments regarding jennie and nayeon had ultimately left the rapper slowly distancing herself from who she considered to be her best friend. figuring it was best in the long run to keep nayeon safe from the bullying. what jennie didn’t expect was how her attitude had slowly shifted when hanging out with a different crowd. one could see that she had taken a turn for the worst, but jennie was still trying to figure out who she was and what friends she wanted to keep now that she was pulling away from those she thought of as sisters.
the upsetting part was that jennie would have never hesitated to lend nayeon a helping hand. she would have been the first to volunteer no matter who the party was for. yet, this made things difficult knowing that she was inflating balloons for her ex. one that she still had trouble facing. she still tried to keep her best face while sitting next to nayeon, and tried to focus on the balloons at hand instead of the words and doubt that were circling around her head. jennie began to tie the end of the balloon once it was inflated, then working to tie the string to avoid it flying away into the clouds. “you chose goods ones,” jennie reassured her when working on the next one. “i’m sure that it’ll all turn out great.” she wouldn’t be here to see the full thing play out, but she was confident that those who would attend would keep it a successful party.
There was not much avoiding each other when the exes had mutual friends. They would eventually bump into each other and he figured that he was prepared for that day to happen. He just didn’t expect it to be now when there was no other person in sight to save him from the awkward encounter just now. How he wished that Lisa would poke her head out after hearing some commotion happen outside of the cabin. She’d pick up on the weird tension and be the perfect person to shift the conversation so that Taehyung could slip away and back into his cabin that had his girlfriend and best friends.
Taehyung could feel that familiar uneasy feeling that usually came up when he was starting to get annoyed. It didn’t happen often but when it did, there was no stopping him from snapping back. There had been a reason why the two didn’t work out. “And you asked me a question. I was responding to you” Taehyung was quick in responding. Old memories of them arguing during those last few weeks of their relationship were staying to flash in his head. Arguing about everything and nothing all in one. “I guess not” He responded back. That should have been the end of it. Taehyung should have walked away and headed straight into his cabin and find the comfort of his girlfriend or one of his friends. But his feet couldn’t leave his spot. All he could feel was the urge to argue some more. “You’re saying that I can’t visit my friends if you’re around? Those are my friends too” Taehyung pointed back to the cabin that he just walked away from. “I’m not telling you to stop talking to my friends, to avoid them. I’m not going to stop talking to Namjoon or not visit Lisa all because you’re under the same roof as them. Don’t be such a spoiled princess. It was never a good look on you”
Jennie should have ripped off the bandaid months ago. Their paths were bound to cross no matter how hard Jennie tried to avoid him. She figured she would avoid him just like when people tried to avoid those they went to school with, and whenever they spotted each other in the grocery store. Would it have been better had she ignored Taehyung and went straight into the cabin? She’ll never know. All the people stuck in her cabin, and neither one was popping their heads out? Or no unlucky soul was around to save her? Her eyes wanted to browse around the area in search of that one person that could make this situation far better, but she was also glad that nobody was around. She didn’t need this conversation to get back to Namjoon who would probably scold her for making things worse or another one of Hyejin’s, “you guys can be friends” speech.
Both hot heads. That had been one thing that hadn’t changed between the pair. Sweet until a certain extent before their patience began to wear thin. “I was trying to make conversation. Why are you answering me with an attitude?” Said the girl who had a snarky underline tone as she spoke. There was no denying that she was starting to get angry. It read all over her face that she lost all of her cool. They had never been great at communicating. One always misunderstood the other which caused the domino effect that then triggered arguments between them. They had one too many fights that Jennie lost count. Her eyes widened at the term ‘princess’ as the word now was a triggering phrase for the rapper. One that Taehyung would throw at her face in the middle of an argument. “Excuse me?” Her eyes narrowed when she took a couple of steps closer in her attempts to show that she wasn’t backing down from the argument. “How are you still twisting my words? I never implied that you couldn’t tal- you know, whatever. Go ahead and continue with your bullshit. You were always great at making me feel like complete crap over things I never said. I just hope that you’re not like this with Nayeon.”
Jongin had no regrets in life. He accepted the consequences to any choices he made. The idol understood the backlash he would take when the rumors of his relationship with Jennie were true. His company was beyond angry, and encouraged him to end the relationship before the situation got out of hand, but he kept on. Timing was a rare jewel in the industry with Jongin occupied with his idol career along with the acting one. At the same time , Blackpink were on the rise , and it put a strain in their relationship no matter how much Jongin tried to hang on. It seemed like the world had other plans for the duo. The last straw for the singer was when he realized how little time the two had invested once they went public. It wasn’t his mission to avoid Jennie , but he surely didn’t attempt to rekindle things. If their paths crossed , then that was a different story. And for years , he managed to wiggle away from her. The breakup had turned messier than the others he was a part of. Then her relationship with Taehyung began , and Jongin’s soul was crushed. Thinking that she didn’t care too much for the relationship or that she didn’t care as much as he did. ❛ Me ? ❜ Jongin glanced around , wondering if she was speaking with him or if somebody directly behind him. ❛ Sure , ❜ His nerves sparked when he stood from his seat to awkwardly walk over to her. ❛ Where do you want to talk ? ❜
the breakup with jongin did wound jennie’s heart. their relationship had been strong enough that they didn’t shy away from the public nor was she bothered with the online bullying she received from his fans. at the end of the day, all that mattered was that they were happy, and she wasn’t going to stress about what people behind a screen were saying. her emotions began to ran deep for the singer the longer they were an item. suddenly, the bad luck of traveling and performing had put a strain into what she thought was a powerful force. now she was having to juggle her love life along with keeping her job. at one point, she wondered if it was worth all of the stress. that’s when she knew that their relationship had ended; when she had thoughts about what life would be like without having a boyfriend.
anther messy breakup was what led jennie to now live and stay in the single life. to straighten her crap out without dragging anybody else with her. before she could do that, though, she had to get over this fear of talking to her exes. put on her big girl pants, and talk through their issues, and hopefully, receive the closure that she wanted. she nodded at jongin, afraid that her voice would break in between the word. “we can talk over here,” she gestured towards an empty bench and table that was far away from the rest of the crowds. hopefully, the only witnesses that would be around would be the birds and whatever animal lingered in the trees. she took a few steps towards the location, hoping that he was following.
rose: ladies. avoid looking anything up about us online. people have been gossiping about us spreading all kids of crazy lies.
jennie: i always avoid looking us up online, lol. i have to keep my sanity intact.
"Whoever invented coffee needs to win an award. It's the one of the only things keeping me going." He smiled as he rubbed the side of his face. Talking to someone was eliminating the fog in his brain. "The place is just outside the campsite." He pulled out his phone bringing up the map. "We're about five minutes away. For some reason, I was having a hard time understanding the directions this morning."
"My nickname might be full sun, but I'm not a morning person." He laughed placing one of his hands onto his hips. During NCT Dream's tour, his members were always having to drag him out of bed. "Don't worry, talking to you has woken me up enough to be a good navigator." He assured his friend as he started to walk down the trail. "It's hard to be tired when you're around the company of friends. How are you doing? You guys having been killing it on stage."
“I completely agree! Coffee is what makes this world a better place.” She lost count on how many times the drink had saved her from falling asleep during an important event. Seconds ago that her body was craving to go back into the cabin was now disappearing the longer she stood talking to Haechan. “Oh, then count me in. I don’t really walk this early, so it’s a new experience for me.” The weather was just above the chilly line, and Jennie was loving it. She now began to wonder if this is how mornings normally were, but something told her that she would be back into sleeping in by tomorrow.
“I’m right there with you.” She laughed when hearing him, and she began to follow down the path. “I don’t know how morning people do it without getting dragged out of the bed! So I don’t blame you for being one of those. It’ll be fine if we get lost The signal here has been pretty great that we can start blowing people’s phones up to come and save us or see if an Uber is willing to drive all the way here.” She joked during their walk. “I’ve been tired. It’s a lot of traveling, and I love visiting places, but the body needs to rest after a while. What about you?”
nayeon was excited; the day had finally arrived for taehyung's surprise party, and everything seemed to be going smoothly so far despite the occasional worry that perhaps her boyfriend would accidentally stumble upon everyone as they were preparing. after doing some early morning shopping with jimin, nayeon decided to busy herself with decorations that hadn't been worked on yet. she was cutting ribbons for the balloons when she caught sight of namjoon, and she returned his wave with a smile on her face and acknowledgment of his task before her eyes landed on jennie. a slight raise of her eyebrows indicated her surprise at the younger woman's arrival, and nayeon mirrored jennie's expression as she watched her walk over.
"hey," she replied, doing her best to swallow any feelings of awkwardness that now seemed to fill the air. it had been a long time since nayeon had spoken to jennie that the woman who she once considered a sister was now a stranger. "oh yeah, sure. thank you. wanna blow up some of these balloons with me? i think i underestimated how many i'd need." nayeon moved over slightly on the picnic table's bench in order to make room for her. "you can take the purple ones, and i'll do the gold ones." she grabbed the four packs of balloons and placed them down in front of them before reaching across the table and grabbing the electric inflator. "i think i cut enough string for now, but if not we can just cut more as needed."
awkward wasn’t close to what jennie was feeling. there hadn’t been much conversation between the women since jennie learned that nayeon was dating her ex-boyfriend. there was much and very little that the blackpink member had to say. thinking it best to have their space, jennie kept at a safe distance until she could gather her thoughts. she would have preferred not to be dragged along, but namjoon kept pressing how they need to talk and try to get the sister bond that they had back in their trainee days. leave it to namjoon to deliver the perfect brother speech. it did cross her mind that perhaps he only said such words because he, too, was close to nayeon. it was inevitable that the ladies would have to cross paths despite jennie’s best efforts to avoid the reunion.
“baby steps, jennie,” said the voice in her head to remind her that she had to keep civil. her optimistic side thought that they’d slip into their old flow once the conversation started between them. “yes, i can do that.” she confirmed with a light smile when she took the spot next to nayeon. busying herself with balloons shouldn’t be a difficult task when the inflator would do most of the job. she began her first task of unwrapping the balloons from the packs to keep the inflating go much easier with all of them laid out. “okay, i’ll try to guesstimate when we’re running low on the string.” jennie offered when she went through the first pack and was starting on the next one. “the colors are nice.” she added in attempts to keep the talk flowing.
Tae was content with his life. He was about to hit a lot of milestones in his life with the release of his album plus he was in a perfect relationship with Nayeon. Their anniversary would be around the corner and that usually brought up the idea of a future together. The only thing that was difficult to accept was his leave to the military which was unavoidable. His time was coming and he had no choice but to serve his time. That didn’t matter now when they were in Jeju and Tae wanted nothing more to do than to enjoy his time with his girlfriend and friends. Talking about friends, Tae was on his way to the cabin Namjoon was in to invite him for a small hike. Anytime Tae wanted to do anything with nature, he never failed to try and drag his fearless leader. After speaking with Lisa, Tae was informed that Namjoon left a while ago and wouldn’t be back for a few hours. Probably went with Jisoo was his first thought. Tae thanked Lisa then said his quick goodbyes before he began to head out when he stopped in his tracks.
He didn’t want to say that he avoided Jennie since their breakup but he did his best to. It was uncomfortable and resurfaced the irritation he felt during the last few weeks that led to their breakup. “Nope... not Namjoon” Tae slid his hands into his pockets, feeling the air thicken between them. Now he was regretting coming to visit Namjoon at all. He knew that his friend was staying with the girls of Blackpink but Tae figured that the chances of running into Jennie were slim. “Well…. I’m walking away with no Namjoon so that should answer your question” He mumbled under his breath.
Keep things peaceful was how she wanted to spend this trip to Jeju. There had been so many flights and shows that had been on Blackpink’s agenda that all Jennie wanted to do was enjoy her freedom. She should have known how awkward things would get with not one, but two, exes running around the cabin area. All of her plans were to stick alongside those closest to her like Lisa and the rest of her girlfriends and their partners that were staying in the cabin. Besides that, she would keep things amicable with any other living soul she crossed during her stay. That thought didn’t process now that she stood in front of Taehyung, and she felt the air shift into a heavier one once they had an exchange of words.
Jennie did a brief check on the ground to avoid making eye contact for long. The nerves she had bubbled in her stomach was now switching to a different one once Taehyung responded. She clicked her tongue to express her irritation that quickly grew. “Thanks, think I would have eventually figured that out,” she snapped back. There was a quiet moment between them before her mouth pulled the following, “I guess we’re still not in the talking phase of our breakup? A year later, and you still want me to avoid talking to you?” They had broken up a little over a year ago, and it still seemed like their breakup was recent by the way they were behaving. “You’re the one that came to my cabin, and I can’t ask a simple question?”

This was awkward, this was awkward, this was awkward. That was the only thought Jennie had during the walk from the cabin towards where Taehyung’s party set up was located at. Namjoon had convinced her to lend a hand even if it was for an hour. Had it not been for her close friendship with him, and the love she had for Jisoo, then she would’ve turned him down, and continued to binge watch the newest K-Drama that landed on her Netflix home screen. She tried not to think about this being Taehyung’s party, but instead, of Jennie reuniting with an old friend. They were close years ago that she owed Nayeon some of her time. Even if it was to blow up balloons or put other decorations. Jennie almost wanted to cling onto Namjoon during the short walk, and make him vow not to leave her alone. To much her surprise, Namjoon did exactly that when he waved to Nayeon, then pointed to the area that Changkyun was in and said he would help with moving tables around.
There went my plan, she mumbled to herself. Jennie forced a small smile on her face when her and Nayeon made eye contact, and very slowly walked over towards her. “Hi,” she said so quietly that it almost came out like a whisper. “Do you need any help? I had some time on my hands, and thought that I could use it to help.” She left out the part that Namjoon convinced her to come.
"it happens to the best of us," dahyun reassured her, an amused smile tugging at her lips once she heard jennie's revelation about being so scared that she nearly crushes the hands of whoever her watch partner is. "having someone there always sounds better than watching alone. i tried watching the conjuring by myself a few years ago and nearly broke my leg trying to run out the room." to anyone else, the fact scary movies are 99.99% fictional was enough from creeping them out, however it seemed that dahyun and jennie were two major exceptions. "i haven't seen another scary movie since." dahyun appreciated all the commonalities between idols, whether they were friends or not. being part of an industry that kept them busy longer than not could be exhausting and overwhelming at times. it was small breaks like this that maintained a balance–just enough to keep one from falling completely at exhaustion's mercy. "ah, you don't have to thank me," dahyun replied, gently waving her hand. she'd known the women of blackpink long enough that she knew if the shoe was on the other foot, they'd hope the same for her. "new places and fans are a saving grace when it comes to touring. other than that, i'd rather be back in seoul." dahyun admitted. "the absolute worst! but on important days i need it, it doesn't work." once jennie agreed to accompany her on the walk, dahyun took a small step forward. "we could scare them off if they see us." dahyun heard of animals in the forest, but she couldn't remember if wild cats were mentioned. "how have you been?"
there had been a time in jennie’s life when she was glued to other idols. she was great at her communicating skills, and would make time for her friends. that began to thin out over the years. jennie’s time got consumed by the busy schedule given by her company. it was one thing that she was envious when it came to her sisters. they knew how to keep things well balanced while jennie struggled to focus on other things. “that movie was horrifying. i saw it with an ex of mine, and i think i clawed my nails into his leg the whole movie.” it was funny now that it got a small giggle out of her. it probably wouldn’t have been so funny to her ex. “that was the last scary movie? well, you’re not missing out on much.”
such an innocent question that’s asked between friends. jennie always debated about answering when the stress of traveling around for months was beginning to weigh her down. what begun as excitement had now turned into a fatigue that the blackpink rapper wanted to wash her hands from the responsibilities. she let a small sigh when the response finally came out of her lips, “mostly tired. i’m happy about having time off, though. i forgot how beautiful the island is, and i’m happy about coming now instead when the raining season begins.” her cheeky smile appeared on her soft face when they continued into their walk. “what about you? i remember seeing that you were still touring or are you enjoying your break now?” jennie was bad at keeping up with her friend’s tour schedules. she already had a difficult time keeping with hers that she was horrible remembering others.
