Thinking about how we seem to define natural as anything made without human influence (even if I'd personally argue humans themselves are natural & so are our actions) & divide it from artificial, meaning created with human influence & intent, but how anything generated by AI is somehow more artificial & less natural than like. Anything else. Generative AI, outside of its few good uses (take medical work for example), is largely a blight on the modern era, but the philosophical questions you can ask yourself regarding it are definitely interesting.

ive been reading BLAME! recently and ive had a lot of thoughts on this since the manga is exclusively about life that is outside the natural to an extreme degree. there are "humans" but even some humans are not alive -- they are robots by our standards. and this distance from humanity is the main driving force of the protagonist and his quest to find a human that has a "net terminal gene" and a genetic material that allows humans access to the net (which they have not had access to in many many generations). "natural" is not something that exists in the manga, but things... feel bodily at the same time. there are races born from an evolution of a machine -- which is technically natural the same way mutations occur but instead they exist because of tiny errors in code that have been expanding their presence over the course of centuries if not millennia. AI is technically natural simply because it is a culmination of many different images, texts, and our human thinking and thus technically an evolution of sorts. however, the interesting aspect that is presented even within modern ai and this manga is that it naturally cannibalizes itself. the binary of natural and unnatural is simply not a proper word for ai. i think a better understanding would be an extremity of evolution. an evolution in the sense that we have created it just in a general sense, and more in the sense that it evolves on its own though it cannibalizing its own code. the speed of ai evolves itself over and over and over again that it forgets the original and that is what is so bizarrely unnatural about it. with human thought and understanding we can view the world though other people's eyes through art and its beautiful. ai has based itself on those originals and has slowly cannibalized itself into thinking it knows what we want. it doesnt know or understand the original and it couldnt -- ever. it's gone too far in cannibalization of itself to even remember what we wanted in the first place
