Of the many lessons I've learned in the past year, the most important one is that people grow apart, can have healthier relationships with others than they might have with you, and deserve a chance to grow in an environment that lets them.

Losing friends sucks and it hurts and there's no easy way through it, but if you care about someone, you want them to have that opportunity they couldn't have with you - and hey, it's good to learn how to get that opportunity for yourself, too.

So sending that care to the people I've cared for and lost this year - a bit of light in a dark period that just seems to keep digging deeper in the wrong direction.

Ever associate your favorite thing in the world with pain?

I love hockey so fucking much, especially the Stars. A while back I shared that love with people I love and it was the best thing in the world.

And then it wasn't. Then it was feeling like this great big amazing thing suddenly was too small - and I was the odd man out.

I've been dealing with that for months. Literally the only reason I haven't deleted this is because it's a primary blog and Tumblr won't let me delete it without losing my side blog.

But when I get a chance I'm privating my entries and basically decommissioning this account.
