It feels pretty crazy to not be posting on this account with everything going on with TLOU2.. but what’s even crazier to me is how not into it I am, at all, when I still think about TLOU and listen to the soundtrack on a pretty regular basis. 

But in a way it kind of changes the way I see the end of the first game. I still don't think Joel was in the wrong for rescuing Ellie- I completely understand how he thinks that humanity is beyond saving, or didn't deserve being saved but Ellie did. It's just that it's so damn hard to watch that gameplay footage trailer and watch Ellie have to kill and be brutal just to make her way in life. To live so harshly and in constant fear. It's not that I think she would be better off having made her sacrifice (not that she knew she would die for the cause before they reached the fireflies from my memory), it's just hard to watch her and know life got no better. It's hard not seeing Joel in these trailers because even though I'm assuming he's alive, will they both make it out alive by the end? Does Ellie resent him? Even typing that sentence makes my heart hurt. I can't watch them have a falling out. Or have a falling out then reconcile on one of their death beds. I can't lmao. 

I honestly don't think I can play the second game. It reminds me a lot of Bioshock -> Bioshock 2 just in that when you start Bioshock 2, you can tell how much worse everything is. The splicers are even more deformed, Rapture truly reaching collapse. That was the impression I got when we saw Ellie kill the one guy, then her witnessing the torture of another man. Of course they're just trying to up the stakes, as they have to to keep it interesting I guess, but holy shit I actually had to look away when they were hanging that man. Brutal. It shows that humanity has taken a turn for the even worse and now we know that Joel and Ellie are still suffering just to live. 

We will almost definitely see Tommy die so fuck that.

I was happy seeing Ellie be happy with Dina but it doesn't seem like their relationship will end well. 

One of my close friends is playing the first game for the first time and she knows how much I love it, she kept asking me about the gameplay trailer for TLOU2. The truth is that I didn't watch it until yesterday. Whenever she talks about the game and asks me why I'm not so into it my response is basically the same every time: "I don't want to watch these people suffer any more."

Overall, I'm going to watch gameplay footage and get a feel for the story before I get too invested.... but I honestly do think I may be happier imagining my own ending for Joel and Ellie.
